  1. S'okay, but getting back on topic, we should probably start getting some outlining done. Commander, you said that there were a bunch of questions you would ask each character to flesh them out, can you type us up a list? I'm not sure what Jacob has planned, but it'll be a helpful starting point

Generally, I start with basic scenarios to see how a character would react. They all start out pretty generic then get into more personal ones. I'd make a list of ten questions now, but I have a few errands to run, but will do one when I get back.

Also, please nobody take the Ground leader while I'm gone. I have a pretty good idea how to fill that one (and it won't have Garchomp, Flygon, nor Excadrill).

  2. Jacob I don't know how you'll deal with 17 conflicting stories without some plot holes and... Gaps. I think it would be cool if this worked out how you plan, but ultimately the person who invents the personality and feelings of characters should be you. That means its easier for you to relate them to other characters, rather than them being purely standalone. That being said, I'm sure this would be really cool if you pull it off how you're planning.

I can already tell you there are plot holes and gaps without even having a full grasp of the story (I don't even know what the region or world he has is like). I don't know what Ultima Admin/Aces' roles are, but it'd be nice to have something outside of a generic battle to progress the story (same with Gym Leaders). A while back, I used to do writing a lot of novels so the planning stage is something I have a bit of experience in the planning area. I am NOT writing this game's plot, but here's a good example of everything I'd need to even begin working on it:

-80% of the characters fleshed out as well as all of the important characters fully fleshed out (as well as trying to get a very good understanding of them. Trust me, I would flood you with questions on each of them)

-Goals of the project as well as important plot points that are required in the storyboard

-A fleshed out world with any important features/towns (I could make my own, but I need to have a good grasp on the region and what it's like)

-A fully committed team who are dedicated to this project through thick and thin

-A scheduled 2-3 month planning period (I prefer longer since I consider that rushing) before even beginning development

It might seem like a lot or tough, but that's general standards for doing the planning stage. When you're going solo, you can kind of mix these things a bit more together, but this is a community project (or should be). Based on that, it's probably best to start fleshing out your own characters instead of discussing plot or plot ideas.

May I also suggest somebody edit one of their earlier posts to include all of the current info on the leaders (you guys can decide what to include). It's a cluttered mess trying to search pages and pages for all this info and having one spot to refer to will make everyone's life easier.

  3. oops I made a mistake in my team. Instead of mega-sharpedo, change it with greninja and make the scizor mega scizor because I forget I'm spy role so I need my aces to be ninja-y so scizor and greninja will be so. :D

Commander you do raise some good points but what works in your reborn hardcore might not be so effective or useful here because of different field potentials, etc. Therefore, you might provide a good team, I'm going to provide a team I think would be useful to use based on my experiences sorry to say. Okay if mega-aero needs to be removed, what flying mega do you suggest then because Jacob is giving him one flying mega.

About the story, I really think this format of throwing ideas and seeing what people think is good and easy as opposed to letting 2 main people have control over the whole story. I mean each gym leader person on this thread should have creative control over some of the story for their character. I don't know if Jacob agrees with this or not but this is just my opinion. That's the point of a thread and I believe it's the perfect place to talk about anything game related.

Also, I would appreciate it if you stop making yourself out to be the greatest person alive with your suggestions and knowledge by saying hey PM me in secret somewhat so I can come up with all the story ideas because it's kind of offputting to be honest. Sorry I don't mean to be rude or mean but I'm just saying my peace.

If I'm misunderstanding you, let me know but I have read your top half of the post multiple times to make sure i'm not saying anything not valid.

It's 1am which is pretty much the point I'm a little out of it. The idea is more to keep this place from being a cluster of random ideas and have better hammered out ones put on the board. It honestly doesn't bother me whether people PM me or not, but I find it easier to discuss things over a topic like this because it's easier to read and respond. To each his own though.

As for the whole story, I don't know how Jacob is handling it. 17 people writing a single story will not work. You can throw ideas, but somebody has to be drafting the final picture. What worries me is that the game is already in development and how fast this "story" seemed to develop as most of you created your own characters for it. I'd like more clarification on how this idea is going to be planned out. Everything is moving unusually fast for something in the idea stage.

I'll limit myself to moves with 60 bp or below and status moves, since that's pretty much the highest attacks go at that point.

The problem now rests in the number of options that can resist ALL of its attacks. An evolved Pokemon that early in the game can barely stand on its two feet against this (usually two shotted) and Aerodactly does not have laughable defense being fought that early in the game. You don't want to force people to run Marshtomp/A Water Starter just due to one Pokemon's difficulty being that unbalanced.

I can't judge the situation too well as I don't know what will be available at the time. Right now, I'm basing it off of a typical main game's options (ie stuff before Brock in Kanto, Pokemon before Cheren in B2/W2, etc) and there'd need to be quite a handful of good water types to consider this fair. This is kind of off putting as there'd be no point in picking a water starter then due to the diversity. That's something that'd Jacob and his crew would have to decide and design as they know the game better than any of us.

  4. Also I had this one story idea, feel free to reject. Gym leaders are all supposed to be connected and know each other, right? So what if the leader of gym 7, the split personality one, was once a friend of my character, but something (his growing affiliation with Scorpio) drove them to hate each other? Just a bit of character background.

And thus the hell breaks loose. Part of the reason I'm only playing on the sides is how convoluted and confusing this story is going to get considering it's being based off characters from 17+ different people. I'd probably pick someone in the group to kind of take charge of the whole story, but one who is a bit open and knows how to weave ideas together (but also know when to say no).

But generally, both people have to reach an agreement before accepting or denying an idea. Personally, I'm for people trying to get the leaders a bit more connected to each other (something that was unheard of until B/W), but try to not leave anyone out. I can rarely create good characters without building off of another.

I don't suggest doing all that here, but on PMs because it'd just make this one big clutter mess and ideas take time to develop. I'm pretty good with character and team building so you can PM me if you want, but generally feel it's more rewarding to think of things yourself so I'll usually only give advice or options.

    --------------------------------------------------

And Pbood, theory is just theory and that's what we're doing. I hate to pat myself on the back, but I'm definitely in the upper half of the competitive battlers on here along with experience using a modified version of essential's AI to create those Reborn Hardcore leaders (who all still had to go through at least 4 revisions, sometimes 15) along with basic knowledge of programming. Basically, I can pretty much back up anything I say with ease.

What your saying is something that occurred during Hardcore Corey. Jamak may have given him a Scolipede. That Scolipede was so broken that it had to be nerfed twice and was still way too strong to handle and was moved to his stronger team to replace Mega Beedrill (another problematic Pokemon). It would be axed entirely if it weren't for the Flame Burst OHKO. Even now, it's really high on my list to axe because barely anything can handle it (and it runs some really weak moves to boot). Aerodactyl and Scolipede both have similar stat spread, but there's a 15 level difference when comparing those two (not to mention Corey is the third leader while this is the first gym leader we're talking about). Aerodactyl as an offensive Pokemon is way too strong for that early in the game and even heavy nerfs is pushing the envelope so it might have to be removed.

  5. Alright. So Fletchinder, the most evil pokemon of all(Vivillon), Murkrow, Golbat, Drifloon and Aerodactyl. Okay then.

I'd like to get a level cap on what the first gym would be, but I highly suggest getting ready for some edits. Aeordactyl might be way too strong (and Mega is outright unfair) so if you run it, make sure it runs a weaker set of moves (or make it a defensive one by giving it stuff like Sandstorm.

What I love about early game teams is that you can really personalize them to suit the trainer compared to later ones. My general impression of this one is that the leader likes to use status moves and tricks over sheer power slowly killing their opponent (kind of like Florinia). Murkrow, Vivillon, and Drifloon suit that spot perfectly (and Aerodactly can be redesigned to be like that with a bit of work).

You haven't covered for electric weakness so Gligar, Rotom-F (that's a first), or Emolga can fight that spot. Natu or Sigilyph are fun to play around with if you want to get creative as well. There's a little something missing though that I like to call the trump card (aka the WTF Pokemon). If you want to make a fight unique, don't bound yourself to what you think is good. Make it good. Mantine/Mantyke, Tropius, Togetic, and Delibird are great candidates for this. Yes, I said Delibird.

  6. I like that team that you made. Really well done. You have balance being sp bulk, physical bulk, sp atk, physical attack. Defog on Skar and you're safe from SR for a bit. I find noivern is actually really good unlike what others are saying, especially with that speed and sp atk stat.

Milotic's suggestion is ok except I don't find yanmega and especially mandi (I guess defog but skarmory has that) to be useful and talonflame is great but who knows what gens Jacob will be including in this.

Everyone else seems to say the trainer card team is better so it's up to you which team you want to use.

Oh for the love of Arceus how many times to I have to say Stealth Rock isn't as big as you think it is. Besides, AI won't bother with Defog (unless you have a very high talent and want to completely rewrite essential's AI which would take a very long time). I get annoyed when people recommend competetive strategies as essential AI is not a human player, but a machine.

Generally, I'd like to see an early game Flying leader because there are a ton of underrated Flying types that would perform well there such as Mega Pidgeot, Masquerain, Chatot, etc. It's probably one of the most fun when your not a late game leader. If you are a late game, Mandibuzz is a must as that is the only tank flying type out there (well outside of Skarmory). As for Talonflame...dondon was right saying it wasn't that much of a threat. I actually had to axe it on Ciel's team for the pitiful damage output (even with a Life Orb) for hardcore. Early game it'd be a threat, but Charizard is a better option imo.

Tropius is another one I can recommend for an early game team. That thing can be an absolute nightmare to the point I might have to axe it for a certain leader. Seriously, don't limit yourself for Flying types due to its huge diversity. Pelipper is another one people forget about as well. It evolves very early making it eye catching for a leader team in the early stage.

  7. Aren't entry hazards pretty much pointless vs the AI because they aren't likely to switch anyway? Or am I missing something here?

Yes and no. Leaders will switch based on certain scenarios. If their current Pokemon can't do anything (or crap damage...that's important) they will switch into something that can damage the Pokemon. Leaders aren't programmed to function well under stalling unless you pick a certain moveset to work with. Still, the damage from stealth rock is pitiful and really won't make that much of a difference (I think stealth rock is useful...just overrated).

For most Pokemon games, hazards are worthless, but they can be useful in a few scenarios. Toxic Spikes has the most uses due to poison scaling, but the others aren't as useful due to being harder to obtain. Stealth Rock has uses, but I wouldn't bother covering for it because the typical player doesn't use it.

  8. Alright, I'm gonna try this now.

Name: Snow should be fine. Gym title is Cryokinetic.

Appearance: About 18 years old. Dark skin, sliver-blue hair and eyes.

    Team:

    1.Cloyster w/ focus sash

    Jolly/Adamant nature

    Skill link

    Shell smash

    Icicle spear

    Rock blast

    Razor shell

    2. Weavile w/ Life Orb

    Jolly nature

    Pressure

    Knock off

    Ice shard

    Icicle Crash

    Low kick

    3. Glaceon w/ Brightpowder

    Modest nature

    Blizzard

    Shadow Ball

HP fighting/ water pulse (you chose, though I think hp fight works best)

Hail/Mirror coat (depends on if perma-hail is a thing)

    4. Mamoswine w/ Life orb

    Adamant nature

    Thick fat

    Earthquake

    Ice shard

    Icicle crash

    Knock off/ Iron head

    5. Rotom-Frost w/ Choice Scarf?

    Timid nature

    Thunderbolt

    Volt switch/

    Blizzard

Trick/ Confuse ray (if not scarfed)

    6. Glalie w/ Glalite

    Naive Nature

    Double-edge

    Freeze dry

    Protect

    Earthquake/ Crunch

This is where Metagame =/= good in game (and half the reason leaders like Ciel are laughably easy). I've done this enough to give decent advice on each.

Cloyster: Waterfall is better for flinch hax (and is slightly stronger). I'd make it Adamant because not much is going to outspeed you after a Shell Smash (outside of a priority move).

Weavile: Life Orb is fine, but Scope Lens is something to consider. Not everyone uses items (I think I only run 2 or 3 with them) so Night Slash is often better then knock off considering item selection. Low Kick can be a little weird with the AI so I always feel brick break is more reliable and effective. Ice Shard is worthless most of the time considering Weavile's speed and is better used for another move like X-scissor or Poison Jab.

Glaceon: If you have to use it, double team is a must. You're gambling on dodging as Glaceon usually can't one shot anything which is devastating. Hail lasts for a very short time which is why I don't recommend it. Glaceon isn't bad, but it doesn't suit your team design (you'd need to drop Cloyster as a lead and have something with Hail...Cloyster can be used outside of a lead though).

Mamoswine: Again, Ice Shard is worthless on something fast. Not much else to say (I've run mixed for Serra and that works fine for me)

    Rotom: Choice Scarf...

I think it's honestly the stupidest tactic people use in OU (and sometimes pretty much makes it an auto win for me). Ranting aside, go with either a ultility or tank by giving it Light Clay with Reflect/Light Screen or Leftovers with Will-O-Wisp/Pain Split. It's got bulk so you may as well use it. (I gave Blake's a Magnet for Hardcore because Rotom doesn't really need an item half the time)

Glalie: Personally, I run a Timid one, but to each his own. Don't run protect because the AI won't use it half the time. If it's your ace, don't run explosion, but I like explosion on this baby because of the sheer amount of damage. Shadow Ball isn't bad if you decide to make it special based. (Super Fang is also fun to run on it).

  9. SnowGlaceon. Currently your team has 4 physical (m-aboma, weavile, mamo, cloyster) and 2 special attackers (glaceon and rotom-F) and I think cloyster is not very good and would honestly suggest the walrein option for bulk because it can also be a huge attacker with blizzard if has it.

Dude...Cloyster is like the best Ice Type and second to Weavile. It's also a fantastic coverage to Fire along with Mamoswine. Those are the deadly 3 ice types as I call them. Mega Abomasnow...is pretty bad for games which pretty much makes Glalie the surperior mega (and that thing is useful). Aurorus is a little underrated and has an amazing movepool making it the special version of Abomasnow.

Jynx isn't a good fighting coverage as that thing will go down to any fighting move. Avalugg is probably the best defensive wise against that. But what to use pretty much depends on where the leader is placed in the game. Crygonal is godly in the early game and can be a major threat due to its speed. But the first draft is a really good hyper offensive (outside of Glaceon who is a little slow) while the second is a little more balanced.

  10. YAY FIRST REPLY!

Here are my maps, some of them have small errors, I know, but here we go

    Map 1, Transport Plane: http://prntscr.com/86o6qc

    Map 2, Magnolia Forest pt. 1: http://prntscr.com/86o744

    Map 3, Magnolia Forest pt. 2: http://prntscr.com/86o791

    Map 4, Magnolia Town: http://prntscr.com/86o7gw

    Map 5, Route 1: http://prntscr.com/86o7k2

Even for a first area, those maps seem very uneventful. If you're going to have that little amount of wild grass, I'd make that area completely full (kind of like route 1 in b/w) as that is the only place to catch and grind stuff. The rest just seems like a long walk and battling trainers.

I know X/Y did something similar to this on their route 3 (or whatever one has the fountain), but there was a lot to look at such as a garden maze, a fountain, and the fact is was huge. But yeah, don't be afraid to throw a couple little extra stuff for treasure hunters and explorers (because there are plenty of people like that).

As for the Town, it's not bad for a first or starting town (but it'd be bad for later on areas). I'd at least connect that bottom path connecting the two houses to the other path and remove the connection to the road because it looks a little weird.

  11. Number 10 Black Sludge

I don't use it often, but sometimes I run this on Trick Alakazam on my playthroughs as messing with my oppenents is fun (and trick is one of my sig moves)

    Number 9 Heat Rock

Ever since Gen VI made the change, weather rocks are valuable on weather teams and can do quite a bit. One trick I tend to do is keep Ninetales alive in the red if I can and switch him out at one point to keep the sun up. Very underrated item (and quite fun using it on those Hardcore teams...especially Victoria)

Number 8 Exp Share (the old one)

You don't know how much use this thing gets when I play through a grinding session. It makes getting those weak pokemon strong a breeze. I know the new one is better, but at least I don't have to box switch with the old one. (Or be overleveled).

    Number 7 Focus Sash

If you know what you're doing, this can make a glass canon last a little bit longer. Usually its made for leads, but sometimes I run it on a member who doesn't necessarily need one. Sash + Blaze is an amazing combo

    Number 6 Sitrus Berry

My general rule of thumb when gym leader/boss building: "When in doubt, Sitrus Berry." It's a very useful item when you don't know what else to use.

    Number 5 Choice Band/Scarf/Specs

I put them all about the same because different ones have different uses. It's hard to manipulate the AI to use one effectively, but when they do, you better run.

    Number 4 The Mega Stone

I have mixed feeling about this one. I like a lot of the "weaker" megas because it makes useless Pokemon useful (such as Bannette) and can really be made memorable. Mega Glalie on an Snowy Mountain is scary as hell. If that thing uses Explosion, everything but a Thick Fat Walrein is probably going to die.

    Number 3 Power Herb

It's kind of sad how forgotten this one gets. It's actually helped when designing hardcore leaders such as Charlotte making the laughable Solarbeam typhlosion back into a major threat. I do play this item on Xerneas, but I wish I used it a bit more outside of that.

    Number 2 The Life Orb

This item is godly no matter how you put it. A boost in power plus the freedom of moves can help out so much. I love this item so much and I probably use it a bit too much.

    Number 1 Flame Orb

Considering Trick is my sig attack, you can imagine why I like this baby. It has many uses such as guts and completely stopping your oppenent from being a threat. Burn is my favorite status due to how useful it can be when well played so an item that creates burn is useful for me.

  12. Le sigh...I guess I'll throw some more about this whole issue. Trust me, I keep a close eye on the fan game expose to avoid conflicts like this. Not everybody is going to like reborn so youtube comments are bound to show up like that. Generally, that's either their opinion (or trolling) and it's best just to accept it and move on. People have different tastes (or are bored) which is why we have the selection of video games we do.

THE MAJORITY HOW PEOPLE RESPOND TO IT HURT REBORN MORE THAN HOW HURTFUL THE COMMENT WAS IN THE FIRST PLACE! I want to emphasize that for a very, very good reason. A general problem in the world as a whole (especially in writing) is that people don't except faults as they view the stuff as perfect. Reborn is also a community so having members bash on people or other games only gives people the wrong impression of us. Back when I was part of a writing community, I sometimes got backlashed for giving criticism instead of saying how perfect a story was (which is a huge reason why I left). So you are really not doing anyone any favors (except the troll) by pointing out or getting upset by a youtube comment.

If you are going to respond to a youtube comment, make sure you aren't going to get upset over anything. You have to make sure you are polite, kind, and most importantly respectful. If I would say something to him it'd probably be, "I think both games are fantastic, but reborn isn't made for everybody." If he responded with a troll comment, just walk away and leave. It's that easy.

And Jamak, (points to giant capitalized letters above) that is exactly my point. And before anyone says anything negative about so-and-so youtuber, he could actually be a fan of Reborn. Sometimes people say stuff just to get people riled up and angry. And let's stop with the naming because it's pointless as it'll be someone different the next day.

Shofu's frustration is a bit different. I'm not sure whether he keeps playing it because he kind of enjoys the fraustration or more that the fans want him to continue (probably more of the latter), but I honestly think it is hilarious due to his skill level. Pretty sure half the things he says are to vent his frustration. (I think we've all done that at one point or another...cough hax queen cough).

  13. And all of that masks the big issue in Reborn: after the Shade-to-Aya jump, experience between cap jumps is just scarse, without grinding or deploying a strictly 6-mon team the player is bound to fall far behind. And tried to address it by nerfing every trainer from Noel to Charlotte, further diminishing available non-grinding exp. Not to mention the fits of training up a new team member.

Sorry for not being strictly on-topic, but I think the game needs more trainer fights between leaders, and trainers with more pokemon, and more second or third evo stages.

I'd say Noel is the only really big issue in the regards (Luna technically was, but she was on the easy side). I mean yeah you're going to have to grind a new Pokemon once in a while, but that'd be 20 minutes unless you want a whole new team.

I can say a bit more about this due to the trainer changes in the hardcore mod I helped create. Having more fully evolved Pokemon did pretty much reduce the grinding effect to the point you will be right at the cap for Florinia (due to an increase for Julia) if not be overleveled making easy to have rotation teams. But yeah, hardcore has a major surplus of exp to the point I used a rotation team when testing (even used a Dodrio up to Radomus) which is useful as you pretty much can't beat a leader with a team of six. The only place that grinding is a problem is at Noel which is why I considered putting a chansey there.

As for the vanilla Reborn, I rarely found the caps bothersome or grinding took that long (outside of noel). It doesn't matter what rpg you play. If you put someone new on the team, you have to baby them for a bit before you can use them. But a good rule of thumb to grinding (outside of trainers) is to find the highest wild Pokemon area where you can one shot everything (such as Amethyst Cave).

  14. Like the others, I can't really recommend a used system, but if you have to go somewhere, Amazon is the place, but make sure you have read everything carefully. I've bought used systems before and most of the time, people get rid of them because they don't know how to clean them. Never bought a good, fully working used system before (until I clean it out). Games, on the other hand, I can recommend used. My gamestop has a selection from the gods and I never bought one from there that didn't work (and I've bought about 1/3rd of my game collection there). I buy very few games brand new which is how I can afford new systems. I've only had one semi defective game which is Metroid Prime that only works on the gamecube (the wii is too sensitive for it...don't ask me how that works). But honestly, how I budget my stuff is to pick up extra hours at work (which is half the reason I can afford all of these amiibo).

  15. I never thought the game went that far on either Normal or Intense modes. If I had to gripe about anything in intense, it's the pain of grinding Pokemon up to that point as there was practically no good grinding spot for the second (first fight) and third gym leaders. I haven't tried it on version 6 so...I need to get on it (and actually catch up on my first save).

If I had to gripe about one thing about the new challenges, it's the first battle with Amaria. If you beat her, you have to fight Ren right afterwards with the same HP and everything. So if you're in the Red Zone after beating Amaria and didn't bring any Potions, GG.

  16. ..I made a Strawpoll to figure out which one of these I want to add after I record the next 5 Custom Battles, because I'm holding back on using other forum members for a liiiiiitle bit. Not to worry, I'll eventually add them, but I'd like to not stray too far away from the original characters in-game, y'know.

Poll can be found here and I'll be taking votes for the next 2 weeks, so voting will end on August 20th.

I'll add the top 5 results of this poll to the battle bracket and figure out teams that would suit them best and I'll do my best to create a customized trainer battle. (No promises I'll have learned to create the custom event by the time this poll will no longer be used, though.)

IMO, learning how to create teams that work with the AI is way harder than implementing the trainer fight (and you're also learning about coding which is twice as hard as either.)

But yeah, I had to redesign the fights for a lot of those characters on your poll and the fourth Cain and third Kiki fights kicked my butt so hard. If you're going to make teams for any of the rivals, I'd recommend turning them back into mono teams (you don't have to) because they felt weaker once they drived away from that. As for if Taka and Sirius get picked, good luck. I'm still sitting here trying to figure out how to make those two tougher (maybe buddy them up with another if you're up to it) as they still sit on the really easy end.

  17. Honestly I think all four of them are pretty dull, but if I had to pick I'd pick the fourth because it reminds me of Pokemon Ranger!

Truthfully, those were kind of my thoughts as well. Storywise, nothing seems to particularly stand out as "Wow! That would make a great story!" which doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. Honestly, I'd have to go with the fourth one too because the other ones are really bland. But I guess I can kind of give my thoughts on the full ideas:

    1. When you use cliche in and idea, that already raises red flags. Also, killing for the sake of killing is rarely a good thing. I mean Rejuvenation had that intro, but there was reasons behind it iirc (I haven't gotten very far). If you are going to go with this idea, I wouldn't kill the friends and kill only one at the start. That adds characters to the cast and you can slowly learn more about them while the story moves forward, rather than to just kill them. If you go through this idea, I suggest revisiting it and redoing a lot of what you have planned to expand on it.

    2. Not one I'm particularly fond of and the way you presented it gives me the impression it won't be what people are expecting. If you're going to do that one, create a different goal outside of being a champion. I don't see this one being too successful.

    3. One word: Cliche. There's too little info there to even give you suggestions. And pretty much every RPG has the adventure started by having someone important to them captured (not every, but you know what I mean).

    4. First off, don't make every battle super difficult. It'll only make your game drag on. The idea may work, but I feel the game would be very short if it stayed only on a campus. There's a lot that can be done for it though. It might be a fun project if you want to start jumping into the game developing world though as it seems the least amount of effort.

  18. Congrats to all who made it.

I just wish to say a few words on this which I believe to be "reasonable".

Simply, when doing things like this in the future, I would readjust your requirements. As of now, it stated no experience was required, and yet most, if not all of the selected people have prior experience. While that's a logical thing to account for when making a choice, I believe it can give false hope to some people that their lack of experience may not matter. In fact, I think, after reading the entire first post and comments on the selection, the only way lack of experience wouldn't matter is if most of the total applicants had none. As such, for the future, I'd opt to mention at the very least that experience is required or given priority to, if present.

The second thing I'd adjust in the requirements is the fact that people will likely be given priority if they have been part of this community for a while, or at least have been actively involving themselves with the community. That again is what I derive from the choice comments. That a person hardly stood a chance if they just joined or if they had lurked around and decided to join solely for the purpose of becoming part of the team and helping out with bugs and stuff.

Obviously, I don't exactly know how the selection process went down, but from comments stating that it was a no-brainer to select someone who has had a buttload of experience, that's the basic gist I get to, and as such, that's my opinion that some details should be mentioned in future requirements of such recruitment, simply for the purpose of not giving certain people false hope that they stand a chance. ( I can already foresee the replies I'll get to this but wellp)

I haven't applied for this myself, so it doesn't concern me directly, but if I were an applicant, that's how I'd feel at least. That said, I am by no means trying to say or sound like I'm implying that the selected people don't or won't be deserving of their position, I just wanted to give my 2cents on the matter.

    :[keepitclean]:

I'm not going to say too much as I say the message in the OP pretty much explains what happened. When I first saw Kuro asking for help, I thought 8 or 9 people were going to ask which is why I decided to go ahead an try. Xe did say experience was something that was being considered, but none was needed if you were reading it carefully. But obviously the best candidates are the ones going to be picked so...I don't see the issue in this (employers do this all the time anyways...some with untold requirements).

I guess I may as well explain why I was put in the interview over other people. My experience with the coding half is not very strong (but I'm pretty much a straight A student in Math and Engineering...which I had to learn some coding terminology from them), but I've gotten quite familiar with RPG maker. Learning about this wouldn't take too long as I've already learned the basics. That and being a long standing member is what made me stand out (2 years and still going strong).

  19. Radomus's difficulty really depends on your team. I used a Honchkrow and Escalveir combo and completely wrecked him. If you're still having trouble, bring a Bug type to take out Malamar who can be a threat. Outside of that, his team is very slow, bulky, and only special attackers. Light Screen will do wonders if he's damaging you too hard.

One trick I do in doubles is to Paralyze and/or confuse one Pokemon on the field while focusing on taking out the other side. This helps reduce the number of attacks you get hit by.

  20. My playstyle is really kind of different than ones that you listed. Generally, I will play a mix of offence, defense, and trickster. The best term to describe it is that I'm a gambler. I often predict what the opponent is going to do and play risky attacks and unusual movesets that can really backfire on me. I'm probably best known for that infamous Ninetales set that I use which wins more than you'd think.
