In this theme tour, every player must use a party of six smeargle. You can use whatever moves you like and whatever kind a smeargle you want to like a stall one or a sweeper one or a utility or all of them combined. Standard rules No uber pokemon (reborn rules) altho the only pokemon you can use is smeargle Freeze Clause Sleep Clause OHKO Clause Self KO Clause Evasion Clause WIFI CLAUSE altho you already know what poke the opponent has Species Clause Disallow spectators [till finals] oh and also a ban on baton pass as it might be to OP! AND SMEARGLE CANNOT HAVE THE ABILITY MOOOOOOOOODY (moody) cuz it is supposed to be banned This will be biggest prize pool ever so make sure you join! The winner will get 1000 reborn rupees and second place will get 10 and anyone below that gets nothing :c. Sorry this is a bit rushed but the main gist of this tournament is that only pokemon who have an evolution stage are allowed but they cannot be in their third stage of evolution (ie gligar and combusken are allowed but blazakin and skarmory are not). Also the item eviolite will be banned from this theme tour to nerf stall. Mega evolutions do not count as an evolutionary stage so mawile would not be allowed in the tour. Ok. SO I'm at the Abandoned Factory where I get trapped by Solaris. And unless I'm missing something, Ditto is not at the top cage for me anymore. And I really want the Rare Candy and Ditto. So anyone have this problem? Or is Ditto not in that area anymore? thanks

Tbh when I made the poll I was not sure whether a complex ban was an option with reborn tiers. If it is possible, only getting rid of prankster + swagger is preferable. I am not able to get on laptop anytime soon but if you are to update the polls it seems like the majority already wants something done with swagger and Bp so option 4 should be eliminated for swagger and option 5 should be eliminated for baton pass.

By common and diverse I mean there are many pokemon and options to build a team to be heavy offensive while stall and semi stall use a smaller variety of pokemon and are not as diverse as HO. Yes HO is common but it also has the most diversity in it and getting rid of that diversity is over centralizing the metagame to my knowledge. I also never said that stall was not a legitimate strategy just that if ladder was filled with stall than the meta would be stale because the diversity of Pokémons used in stall is very limited. Swag Key does not counter any pokemon. For a pokemon to counter another pokemon it means they can switch in and deal with the threat a high percentage of the time (i.e chancy is to chari-y or mega venasour is to azumaril). Kelfki relies on its prankster swagger to almost always out speed the opponent and hope that it the pokemon hit itself. If I am wrong please list some pokemon that swag key will always beat near one hundred percent of the time. Yes its prankster thunderwave can cripple most HO but with only that usually only one pokemon is taken down at max or a ground or electric pokemon can beat it. It is not horrible to lead with a set up sweeper but they are definitely at a disadvantage as reborn follows no wifi that innately pressures people to lead with taunt /u-turn/focus sash leads all of which break set up leads. 50/50 is not a good chance for either. It relies on luck and is thus not competitive which is why people want it gone. The thing is is that the person using it has the advantage because they think the 50/50 is actually worth it while the opponent has no say and just has to hope he or she will not hit themselves (i.e they turn a matches which was skill based with the opponent maybe having an upper hand to a match where the outcome becomes 50/50). In the end, unless they have atlest 2 bulky pokemon who have some way of healing themselves or a bulky magic bouncer, the match is going to be decided by a coin flip which i am guessing most people do not want.

hmm? We are voting to get swagger banned because of its usage in the OU ladder in reborn. If people start complaining about confuse ray than we will also put it on a vote. Critical hits are not controlled by either parties and paralysis is a status condition which got nerfed by not even affecting electric Pokemon any more or most ground Pokemon. But if there ever comes a time when a bunch of people say paralysis is to OP (which i don't think will ever happen) than we can put a vote on that.

I think has been stated about BP and swagger to justify a vote on if we should remove it or not. Added a poll. Make sure you read everyone's responses first.

hmm klefki is only a problem because it can swagger and, with prankster, usually the first one to attack. It's other sets do not rely on the rng and are not as centralizing to the metagame. I think what Sarc is saying is that you just spam the same moves to win and that does not require a lot of skill to win. 50/50 chance is not a good chance but if it really was that bad than no one would ever use it and yet it is pretty popular. If opponent switch to electric or ground pokemon you can still spam swagger and rely on the rng while the opponent also has to hope that he won't have to hit himself. Defensive rotoms and t-tars counter it but an offensive t-tar found in HO take a lot of damage from hitting self and even from a resisted foul play same with non defensive espeon.

c: glad it has been civil! anyways i think that HO, which is a very common and diverse playstyle, has absolutely no way to beat klefki without luming every single one of their pokemon or they will still possibly lose atlest 1 pokemon depending on a coin flip. stall meta = stale meta i think a prankster + swagger ban is all that is needed as prankster makes the pokemon always attack first. but if that is too complicated i dont think a out right swagger ban is a big deal. it has already been addressed well by skitty/moony/slant/lobos/cow/ikaru BP @bazaro Yea a sd talonflame could beat bp but why would you lead with a set up talonflame? the only lead talonflames i have seen are banded ones since they can usually u-turn out. most set up sweepers are ment to be for late game sweeps when all their counters/checks are destroyed. Same with any other set up lead but i think that had already been addressed. If we played in preview i could see a case for that but they would probably not lead witha scelopede if they saw you having a talonflame. possible solution: yea get only 3 pokemon with bp allowed in a team or less or not allow espeon/xatu/scelopede/blazakin access to BP

It is an interesting set! But keep in mind that a lot of bp teams carry a smeargle with ingrain and makes them unphazable to even a mold breaker gyradoes. When they get that down it will be near impossible to stop with a stall team. Assuming that a bp team decides not to run it, than still forcing teams to carry moldbreaker phazer still seems to centralize the meta a bit as the only ones that I have ever seen are the gyra you pointed out and haxorus. Perish song celebii is a counter and can deal with more than just bp but atm it is considered to be UU according to both smogon and PO. This does not mean that it is not good at all in OU or anything but fitting a UU pokemon in an OU team just for the sake of counter teaming bp doesn’t seem practical or healthy for the Meta game. Prankster taunter is an interesting strategy to combat it but the ones that are used in OU is sabaleye and thundorus-i. Sabeleye I can see a case for it but the opportunity cost of giving thundous-i taunt instead of another coverage move is huge. Pokemon cannot thunder wave it so it doesn’t have to worry about that or being whirlwinded by a skarm since it already 1 hit kos it (assuming not in full health) and only useful on a roaring hippo if it does not carry ice fang or rock slide which is starting to become more common. Haze polited/quagsire/greninja/xatu are the only viable pokemon I have seen. And even than greninja already suffers from 4 move syndrome so wasting a slot for haze which will only help against baton pass or maybe a cosmic power clefable. And even with haze it is possible for a bp team to play through it as seen in this replay http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-97474408 Hmm in most of the high lvl bp they make sure pokemon is always behind a substitute in the late game so ditto would not really help unless it transformed into an espeon with all the stat boosts. Also the only time a bp team attacks is usually with their espeon with a bunch of stat boost behind a sub so even sash infernape as you listed would not do much help. Surprise taunters to work but taunt only last for 3 turns and usually bp carry a mental herb or 1 attack move on all pokemon. And even though bp teams rarely carry stealth rocks it is the most common move used in competitive battling so a team will still have to prepare for it. thanks for you input ^^ if there was anything i might of forgot to address of flaw in logic do tell.

@Fezzdoge O; hmm yea they should be two different topics since they are both different by nature. But I don’t think it should be too much of a hassle to try and fit both of them here (since it has already been made n_n). @Kyra Fair point that there are many ways to beat bp especially since they are forced to lead with scolipede as there is no team preview. Taunters (and phazers) can beat bp, but unless you have more than two of them it will be fairly easy for an opponent to predict it and switch into espeon. Swagger can be beaten my semi bulky pokemon by infinite switches but even that will fall apart if there are hazards in your side. In that scenario eventually you will have to attack and if you are confused you have a fifty percent chance of doing a lot of damage back to yourself. Heavy offensive also happens to be the most popular play style (at lest from the battles I have done in reborn) and a meta full of stall or with espeon/xatu isn’t really healthy meta imo. Thanks for you input ^^ I guess really it depends on if people want to deal with luck/stale meta or if they don’t which is what this topic was made for.
