Angelcrushers Pokemon Talk

Palpatine

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, if you are all wondering Angelcrusher is my kinda general name on other forums and Showdown.
The idea of this post is basicly something where i can put my thoughts, ideas, teams, favorite pokemon and other stuff and discuss about all of that with you guys, and competitive battling also:

I don't think that this topic exsiting is a problem to anyone :o hopefully

So to start this topic off i'd like to talk about my own competitive play and pokemon choices. Personally i'm really not one of those guys that use pokemon just because they are good competitively. If let's say for an example Vanilite was amazing in competitive and most people would go for it i wouldn't touch that thing cause i'm not gonna degrade myself to using some garbo just cause it's GOOD competitively ya' know :P
But to each his own
On topic of that i have a distaste for Landorus and that thrio of his. Just never really liked them in any way and though i realise that they are GOOD competively i would really never use them simply because I dislike them

Now with that said you could have already figured out that my teams are based around pokemon i love. Seriously like all my team members are either top 10 favorites or fall just bellow my top 10
That's just what i like, i find it more enjoyable that way. And if they're good, well great! :o

So with that being said i shall continue to state pokemon i usually like to use and then list my current team.

Usual pokemon of my choice: Metagross, Garchomp, Crobat, Greninja, Darmanitan, Espeon, Weavile, Talonflame, Gengar, Scizor, Empoleon

Others that i have ocasionaly used: Charizard Y, Trevenant, Snorlax, Rattata

Now this is my current team with whom i have the most fun with

Rikimaru
658.gif Ev's: HP:4, SpA:252, Speed:252 Timid nature

Item: Life Orb

Ability: Protean
I loved Greninja from the start, since freaking Froakie, before anyone knew he was good. SAME EXACT thing was with Fletchling, i just knew that his evolution would be awesome and Talonflame indeed is.
So on topic of Rikimaru, my Greninja, I did used to run stuff like expert belt but really had better results while trying out the Life Orb. The thing with fragile pokemon and Life Orbs is kinda simple yet tricky, you just gotta conserve every strike, gotta know when and where to hit and switch in cause you're constantly losing health. It serves me amazing honestly with all that speed boost it will outspeed most of the things and other Greninjas and the Life Orb makes up for not having a Modest nature
My moveset for Rikimaru and every other Greninja
Ice Beam
Dark Pulse
Extrasensory
Hydro Pump

Yup nothing inovative and outstanding in the moveset but that's because this just really works well and i don't feel any need to change anything

Blitzkrieg
darmanitan.gif
Ev's: HP:4, Atk:252, Speed:252, Jolly nature

Item: Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Very similar to Greninja in the terms of usage and mechanics. Blitkrieg, Darmanitan, just pack POWER. Again i've picked a speed boosting nature since Life Orb gives my attack a nice boost, and damn this thing hits hard. I've literally OHKO'd Talonflames, Chansyes, Kyurems, Dragonites and lots of other stuff with it.

If you get hit by that Flare Blitz from this thing, it's gonna hurt no matter how you resist it (unless you got Flash Fire lol).
Also i find this moveset to be a good coverage
Flare Blitz
Earthquake
Superpower
U-turn
With all that speed you're most likey to outspeed other Darmanitans and a bunch of other OU pokemon. It has a major advantage when switching it into stuff like Scizor since it resist Bullet Punch like crazy so your opponent is either gonna leave Scizor in and let it die or switch into something else which will probably also get killed or get down to red HP. With all that nice speed a Life Orb U-turn gives it a nice damage on the free switch. All you gotta do is look out for that Flash Fire cause like i said honestly even if the pokemon resists fire this Flare Blitz is gonna hurt

Vee
espeon.gifEV's: SpA:252 SpD:4 Speed:252, Modest nature

Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Magic Bounce

I think this is pretty much clear. You'd be surprised how many people are not expecting this Magic Bounce.
For example: I see a Smeargle on the other team so i send out my Greninja first, then switch into Espeon. Poof Espeon bounces the spore onto Smeargle and my opponent instantly rage quits. So yea.. these things happened.. like maaany times..
The other thing is the item, i haven't seen many Assault Vest Espeons running around so it catches people off guard. With it's great special attack and a decent moveset he can deal some serious damage and thanks to Assault Vest he is able to survive othervise lethal hits and retaliate
The moveset i run on my Vee is
Psychic
Psyshock
Dazzling Gleam
Signal Beam

The first 2 moves are obviously STAB with one going for the defensive stats even though it's a special move and Dazzling Gleam and Signal Beam are just filler for Dragon and Dark types

Vlad
crobat-2.gif
EV's: Atk:252 SpD:4 Speed:252, Adamant nature
Item: None
Ability: Infiltrator

Vlad the Crobat. Ahh yes! Now on the first glance it really might not look like much especialy with no item but trust me this thing is AMAZING. Probably pulled up most of the sweeps with him.
Moveset:
Acrobatics
Super Fang
Roost
Cross Poison

Now i did used to run Brave Bird instead of Super Fang but really found it unnecesary. Acrobatics do it good enough for me and no one even expects that Super Fang, i really mostly use it when i'm down to red HP and my opponent is all confident and sends out something like Mega Aggron.. BOOM half of your health is gone. Ofcourse running no item has it's on perks, multiple opponents just went for the Knock Off on me doing reaally mediocre amounts of damage just cause they thought i was running some amazing item and they would usually die to my Acrobatics after that Knock Off. The other perk is that Acrobatics power doubles from 55 when the user has no item, so you can see why i don't need Brave Bird when i have this and no recoil.
Vlad is actually my go to guy to take out Talonflames as they are kinda fragile and get lots of recoil from their own Brave Bird which i survive and retaliate with Acrobatics. In some cases it was able to outspeed Gale Wing (NOW this might not be correct but my opponent claimed that it outsped Gail Wing probably cause his Talonflame's speed sucked but who knows if this was true)

Seriously this guy is amazing, one of my all time favorites since i was a kid and it can even take hits, most of the time i'm able to literally power through other pokemon that even take neutral damage from Crobat.
But that's not all...
Infiltrator ability! You'd all be surprised how many people forget about this and think they are safe and sound behind their substitutes and screens just to get OHKO's by Acrobatics
Not to mention that he's a pure Fairy killer with that Cross Poison. Florgess ? No problem!

Sidious
gengar-2.gifEV's: SpA:252, SpD:4, Speed:252, Timid nature
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Levitate

Well i'm guessing you can all figure out this is one of my all time favorites along with that Crobat. Gengar was literaly a staple on my every team, i can't even imagine playing seriously without him. I've sweept teams with it, survived strikes, retaliated, caught people by surprise, EVERYTHING. Now, i used to run that Expert Belt on my Gengar but i replaced it with Life Orb just like with Greninja. I also tried out Assault Vest and that works good too, but in my case i decided to go with that Life Orb. As we all know Gengar was always a threat with a great movepool so you don't know what the opponent will whip out at you.
My classic Gengar moveset would be
Shadow Ball
Sludge Wave
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast

Shadow ball because of that amazing STAB ofc, Sludge Wave too, now i chose it over Sludge Bomb cause it's slighty stronger even thought it has less chance to poison but in my Gengar's case it's more about damage than poisoning. Thunderbolt is there cause lot of people don't expect that and with Gengar's Special Attack and Life Orb and you got one great Thunderbolt, most Water and Flying Types don't survive it. Focus Blast is there for the surprise factor again and for coverage. Now i know it has kinda horrible accuracy but when it connects Dark, Steel, Rock and Ice types WILL faint. And most of the opponents don't even see it coming so they like send out a Bisharp and try to set up a Swords Dance predicting me to switch but BAM Focus Blast, dead Bisharp and even a rage quit sometimes hahahah :o

Also fake out users like mostly do nothing against my team thanks to Gengar. The minute i notice a potential Fake Out or a Mach Punch i switch into Gengar who's ofc immune and then most of the time i just outspeed them with the Shadow Ball for the kill. He is also good to switch in on Rapid Spinners, since Rapid Spin is normal and if it doesn't connect (And once again Gengar is immune) it won't clear the rocks

Regis Mark VI

376.gifEV's: Atk:252, Def:120, SpD:136, Adamant nature

Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body

My ace, always been a crazy fan of Steel Types and once i got myself a Shiny Metagross i just can't help but to use this thing and i don't care if there are better choices. Also if anyone is wondering about the name here's an explanation: When I was a kid there was this cartoon on Cartoon Network called Megas XLR, the fat guy that drives a huge blue robot. In one episode the earth is attacked by this tiny regenerating spider robot (who has an amazing time music play whenever he talks). And each time it regenerates it gets bigger and stronger and the robot's name was Regis Mark V. So yea, this is Mark VI :D

Okay so the moveset i'm running is
Meteor Mash
Bullet Punch
Zen Headbutt
Earthquake/Hammer Arm

Thanks to it's high defensive stats and some EV distribution in SpD stats, boosted with that Assault West Metagross is bound to live most of the attacks. Many opponents don't even expect this thing to survive a Flamethrower to the face then retaliate with Earthquake or Meteor Mash. Plus Meteor Mash has a chance of raising that attack. On topic of Earthquake vs Hammer Arm on Metagross i really have a hard time deciding. Hammer Arm lowers speed after usage but it kinda feels like it's more usefull on him, still i decided to run that Earthquake for a while. Truly a late game pokemon and i usually only bring him out when i'm about to kill something, either with priority or a regular attack. I tend to keep him reserved for most of the battle and when the opposing team is worn out and down with HP Metagross will come out, eat up the damage and deal even more. Love having him on my team and all you really need is patience and carefull thinking so avoid sending him out to any Dark physical attackers and such.
Also there's a topic with a replay of one of my battles where i Baton Passed with Ninjask into my Metagross and Swept and entire ubers team with it :D

I plan to talk more about other pokemon i use and other sets later. I'd love to hear you guys and your teams not just talking about mine :o Oh and don't worry i'm not an ignorant fool thinking I can wreck everyone or something lol i do realise a lot of flaws of my own team but i do have crazy fun with this and it's mostly my work and pokemon i'm attached to :D

Hoping you guys would like all of this, Cheers
