When do berries grow?

Will they grow after a certain number of steps, or is it real time?

 

I've been walking around for a while, hatching eggs while waiting for the berries to grow, but when I came to check on them, they were still just seeds.

 

They're all Lum Berries if that helps.

If you use the unreal time password and can change the time, you can speed up the process. That's what I did.
