If you sold it then the Spyce fetch quest is incompletable in your save file, unfortunately. If someone were to trade away their balm mushroom then the quest would also be locked away for them. The prize for completing it are a couple left overs, which eventually do become an unlimited resource through pick-up, so it's not that big of a deal, I guess.
