REBORN WEEKLY

Disaster Strikes!

post-51120-0-01626400-1419124108_thumb.png

The Byxbysion section of the city has turned into a waste land! Trash has filled the entire neighborhood. Almost overnight did

the disaster strike. The repairs from the earthquake have halted and all citizen's in that area are being evacuated. The effects of losing this section of the city might be detrimental, and the effects on the environment could be even worse.

The Byxbysion Section of Reborn has been largely a new area for the city. It is a relatively new expansion and not that many people have moved to it. That being said it has become a sink hole for cash, Tons of apartments were built for the need of the growing population in Reborn, which have all become unlivable. While the current resident are unhappy that they're losing their relatively new homes some actually wish to stay. We asked a mother of two about how she felt about the events and she responded "It's a real shame about what happened here but like hell I'm moving out! I paid good money for this house and I'll be damned if I'm moving again! I bought this house for my new born son and my daughter. I'm not leaving any time soon."

When we asked Ame about what was planned she responded "We will be sending in clean up crews immediately. The Byxbysion Area is not being given up on. All though in the mean time we will be relocating citizens to livable area's of the city" The clean up crew's are to be departed this Saturday. According to the report's it will take at least 2 months to clean up the roads and buildings and even longer to clear out all the trash in general.

As to where the trash will be moved, we asked the man in charge of the clean up, Thomas Ito, and here is what he had to say. "The trash will be handled in a healthy manner. We will be bringing squads in. Each one having a Garbodor and a Magneton that will be able to eat the waste and pick up metals that can hopefully be recycled." The use of pokemon will hopefully cause the issue to be resolved quickly and without any delays.

Another worry is the effect this will have on the environment. A lot of pokemon make their homes in the Byxbysion Ward. As it has a lot of trees and relatively more flora than the rest of the city. Pokemon such as Pacharisu and Pidove are common sights along with the rare Burmy. What will happen to these pokemon is unknown, although relocation efforts have been hinted at.

This calamity is certainly a hazard and a setback after the earth quake but Reborn City will pull though it.

Pokemon of the Week

Howdy all, Ron here with you Pokemon of the week! This week we will be focusing on the blue tank, the nightmare of sword dancer's, the derpest of derps! Quagsire! Now lets get the basic's out of the way. Quagsire is a Water/Ground type pokemon with above average Hp and okay physical stats. While this it's self is not swag worthy, it's amazing moveset and abilities make is one heck of a pokemon. Quagsire has three abilities Unaware, Damp and Water Absorb. Most of the time as a battler you should try for Unaware or Water Absorb. Unaware is a nifty ability where the pokemon that has the ability ignores all stat changes on the battle field, While Water Absorb make's it so that Water type attacks heal the pokemon that has the ability. In battle Quagsire acts a defensive tank who is often sent in against opponents who have boosted up their stats and are attempting a sweep. This is done with it's ability Unaware and its fantastic moveset. With defensive moves such as Amnesia, Curse, Stockpile and Protect insuring that Quagsire is on the field permanently and Utility moves such as Recover, Toxic, Haze, Scald, Rest, Yawn, Double Team and Aqua Tail make it a threat to not only your boosted pokemon but your entire team as well.

Now while this pokemon might seem impossible to beat there are several things to note. Quagsire is extremely weak to grass type attacks, in fact grass is it's biggest and only weakness. Grass types usually boast high special attack and a good special movepool, so getting your grass type on the field ASAP is always a good idea when your see this beast. Also Unaware ignores stat boost on your pokemon it also ignores lowered stats, meaning Draco Meteor away because this fella has crummy special defense.

In the sense of carrying a Quagsire around Reborn, it is really up to the trainer. A majority of Quagsire's moves are not available without the usage of TMs although, moves like Recover, Haze, Amnesia and Yawn are all still there without the usage of machines. Quagsire is weak to grass types which is not extraordinarily popular in the city right now but if a break out of plant's ever did happen Quagsire's usage in Reborn would drop rapidly. As always though it's up to the trainer. Your in control of your pokemon never forget that.

Gang Activity Increases

As some of you may know the creation and joining of gangs in Reborn City has skyrocketed. About 2% of the population of Reborn is now apart of Reborn's underground now, this is a 1.3% increase from 3 years ago. The reason behind the growth of gangs is unknown and the Reborn Police force is having trouble dealing with the increased numbers.

Gangs are now present in most of the wards. While most of them are more or less groups of teenagers running around punking random people on the street, bigger activities have started to arise. Most recently there was a gang war spanning the Peridot Ward. In this gang war 3 people were killed and 14 were injured, none of them over the age of 20. Gang activity is also popular in the Beryl ward where people in dark clothes have been spotted entering and leaving the Rhodochrine Jungle.

When we asked the police what they were doing about this the chef responded "Our efforts against gang violence are increasing but it's up to the public to prepare them selves and know what to do when approached with gang activity. If a gang's activity is brought to us we will do our best to respond to it in a timely matter.

Trainer Beat Down

(Please note that this section is on my own opinion)

Hello all and welcome to this week's Trainer Beat down. Today we will be looking at Gym Leaders Julia and Noel and seeing how they stack up next to each other.

Let's start with the energetic electric leader Julia. Julia is a fierce leader who often use's fast pokemon that can inflict the nasty Paralyzed status. Her favorite tactic is to take how as many opponents as possible before going out with a bang her self. She has a lot of battle experience as she is often one of the first leader's a trainer may face. Her team consist of Jolteon, Zebstrika, Emogla, Raichu, Magnezone, and her ace Electrode. While she seems weak to ground both her Magnezone and Electrode are capable of using Magnet Rise to lose their ground weakness. Julia herself is a confident battler but seems to not think when she should go out with a bang.

Noel on the other hand is one of the youngest leaders of Reborn, He does not have a lot of battling experience due to being part of the Orphanage here in Reborn. Even though experience is not his strong suit Noel is ingenious for his age. He know's where to strike and when to strike. He knows the ability and typing of pokemon like the back of his hand and knows their weak spots. He uses Normal Type pokemon in battle with his team being Swellow, Cinccino, Staraptor, Snorlax, Wigglytuff, and his ace Clefable. He is a menace, using every strategy there is and using each of his pokemon if different ways. If plan A ain't working he has B-Z for his back ups.

Now in an actual battle it would be a real show to watch but i would place my money on Noel. Most of his pokemon have larger movepools than Julia's and that can help a lot more than only a few moves other than Electric type ones. That being said in a battle Noel would most likely lose his Cinccino, Swellow, Staraptor, Wigglytuff and have significant damage on his Snorlax if it didn't faint. The electric moveset and speed of Julia would do a fair amout of damage especially to Noel's flying types. Almost every pokemon on Noel's team can learn Earthquake or Dig and put a real damper on Julia's team. As for thier ace's if Julia got to see Noel's Clefable it could most likely survive until Julia felt like she was going to lose and tried to go out with a bang, and actually probably end up fainting her last pokemon with self destruct...

Read next week's paper for another Trainer Beat Down, And remember to write in for who you would like to see face off!

Ward of the Week

This week we explore the Opal ward and what it brings to Reborn City. The Opal ward is what brings everything together in Reborn. It is the center of our city, our league, and our region, but other than that... not much else. The Opal ward is one of the smallest wards in Reborn City. It contains only 2 notable structures, The Region Center and Trainer's Toll Booth Bridge.

The Region Center is the place where all trainers tempted to take on the Reborn League go to become registered. After registration you are allowed to pick from 18 different Pokemon or provide one of your own as your starter pokemon. The building also has information on the city, the events inside the city, Ame's headquarters, a pokecenter, and a small item shop. It is a popular meeting place for all types of people and big events are always shown on the flat screen in the center of the building's main floor.

Trainer's Bridge is what helps connect the Opal ward to several other wards of Reborn. It is a popular place to find trainers to battle and often hone your skills. It should be noted though if you wish the enter the bridge you must win a battle on it meaning that almost half of Reborn city is cut off if your a civilian without a pokemon. Trainer's bridge does give a fantastic view of Azurine Lake and it's beautiful water. It is also popular as a date spot as long as you and your partner don't mind being challenged to a battle.

Overall the Opal ward is a small ward that is a must for Reborn City, it may not have much for it but without it we would all be lost.
