  1. This is a very good update! The sprite reworks are great and Mr. Luck, clever bastard he is, gets to be more useful. You guys mentioned password use, does that mean it's being implemented in .5 or is it more of a test for the eventual v14? Wonder what passwords are going to be there and how many would be unique to Rejuvination.

For Ruthless Pokemon, I suspect that the devs are aware that if given a chance players would 100% just grind out the black shards using item stealing moves/abilities, though I suspect that they'll have a catch only type rule for them in that case. I would say that having better stats would be a downside considering the Hospital of Hope but also I've been at the endgame for v13 for so long that I forgot what it was like to have to care about that sort of thing, same with a contract for egg moves and how move remember guy allows them way late in the game. Wonder where he'll be though, and after what badge. Glitter balls being added is a nice thing, and I am curious about what or who Dottie is and what they'll be selling.

All interesting stuff however! Can't wait to see how this goes.

  2. I like this update! Really gonna be a good one, though I imagine that since 13.5 is having the Terajuma story beats be accessible later (likely way later) than intended might cause some problems going to v14, needing to move it around and all. But I'm sure you guys will figure it out.

Surprised that the Hisuian variants are coming in though. I was under the impression that they would come v14 since 13.5 was more focused on the extra content and move pool wise making some of the pokemon have their SWSH DLC movesets. But if you guys managed to squeeze them in, then that works.

I have to ask for clarification though, it says that if you beat Saki you're fine, but are there any locations that you should avoid loading in (Terajuma being the obvious example) to avoid save file breaking? Like would Sashila Village be a good place to load in after the fact? Can answer that later since you guys wouldn't likely know at the moment.

    Good luck in the meantime!

It turns out my first save was 53 hours in lmfao........ and now I'm sad because It was at badge 5. Now just realizing that cant be right, did it delete my old saves after I reached a certain amount?

Sort of. You have to manually set it up that way but after 50 save game states it starts deleting the oldest ones. If you make the backups say, 100, that tells the game to never delete backup saves. Default is 50, but you can make it go higher.

No clue if making more backup states make the computer lag at any point but still.

Are there any early-game changes pre-v13 in this update or can I start a new playthrough now without worrying too much about major changes to the story?

As of now from what I remember from other dev posts, Jan and the other devs have placed in a mercy ruling for v13.5. Because there are events on Terajuma Island that would be long gone by now because you would in theory do them on your very first visit in the story, the devs have made it so that in v13.5, you can access that event and part of the Island story.

However they also pointed out that this only extends to v13.5. Once v14 proper comes out, the Terajuma Island story events will be reset back into place timeline wise. The only other things that are effected by this as far as I am aware of is the free Aevian Feebas you get at Gearen City no longer being available post v14.

You should be good for the time being.

  5. Love these designs! Using Areo at the moment and the fact that they got a fucking mask like some sort of Power Rangers member. Though then again they all kind of look like a Power Ranger...

Though I am curious about how the team decided that the 'titles' (for lack of a better term), were decided. If there's ever a proper QnA I'll probably send it there later if it isn't answered here but I am just curious.

That being said good work on the designs! They look great!

  6. I wasn't expecting anything news related this month anyway really? Like December is Christmas time (or holiday season for others who don't celebrate Christmas), that's a really busy time. Like a month from the November one sounds good on paper but once you realize that December is filled with holiday time then you think to yourself, 'wow I do not have the time to actually be working on this, I need to focus on the holidays and such.' Then it starts not being great time.

Plus seasonal depression risk for some of the dev team, and it becomes a boiling pot of bad potential things happening. So taking December 'off' so to speak is a good idea. And if you manage to get ideas during that, just write it on a little notepad and keep it to the side while you focus on the holidays.

Good that you seem to be doing fine though, as is the rest of the team. Wish the mod team a good holiday!

Is there a guide to these routes? I've been looking around and found nothing. Even the 100% walkthrough guide doesn't say anything about any Renegade or Oblivion routes.

In fairness of course the guides wouldn't reference the renegade/oblivion routes. They were (technically) announced officially in this post!

It's also fair because up until this announcement of the two routes, the bad choices in-game never actually did anything (baring an exception involving the hidden library quest). Nothing substantial at the very least besides that bonus scene with the twins. So this is more confirming that there is going to be more built off from those points.

  8. Loving the idea of the two endings! Or 4 if what Zumi says is true and accurate (since there will likely be no other information at the time. Gotta keep the suspense and surprise there after all).

Of course for the most part a large majority of people will see the paragon ending first unless they're on a second V13 playthrough to see what happens when you go full evil. No person generally goes on the bad route first unless it's a genuine blind playthrough and the choices leading up to said bad ending are obtuse/difficult (SMT4 fans while I have never played the game I know it was infamous for that).

Regardless I'm sure you guys will be able to figure it out. Other than that I wish you guys luck with the development! Take care of yourselves and take breaks when needed.

  9. I like the idea of low tier legendaries being catchable. Especially if they're like, quest ones too, like the ones we see in the main story minus the Latios and Latias. Serves as a narrative buffer as well since Team Xen is much more deadly then thought of and this base raid that'll be going on in v14 I think it is? The one where its like a 3 parter. So the idea of grabbing some legendaries of your own is great. Plus like they got a few legendaries somewhat as well so it evens things slightly.

That regional form is really pretty thought! Got a feeling it's the bronzor family. Gotta be fancy with em mirrors.

Other than that I wish you and the team well! Good luck, take plenty of breaks if need be, and just overall do well with the game.

I really appreciate eveything you guys do, so thanks for that

And out of curiosity, what are the chances we can get at least the hisuian starter evos on next update? I'm itching to start a brand new save on v13.5 with the possibility of evolving cyndaquil to typhlosion-h 🙂. Wouldn't even complain about the absence new move(s), just the mon itself with its stats, typing and rest of the movepool would be awesome

I think so far (don't quote me on this) as mentioned on one of the other dev blog posts, the plan is to see how they integrade them in Scarlet/Violet since there's an image of Hisuian Zoroark in-game. Not surprising considering that Legends runs completely differently to mainline games in moves, power, and stats. So while they won't be in this update, they might be in like, V14 or 15, or whenever. Keyword on might since the team could just say 'no' to Legends pokemon and ease the workload a little.

  11. New GDC help quests... Soon the mystery of that big building in the scholar district will be solved /j. Interesting how access to every area is a thing going forward. Kinda hope that doesn't cause any potiental sequence breaking with Axis High. But I'm sure you got enough play testers for that sort of thing.

If Angie's dimention gets revamped that'd be interesting. Personally I thought it wasn't self absorbed enough for it to be Angie's /j. But yeah all this new stuff is looking nice! Wish you all good luck with it!

Welp, Karen's back. I do wonder how the stuff with her would go if you let Karrina kill her in Castle Zygara.

    3 hours ago, Falirion said:

I'd actually assume that that particular screen is a redesign of the hidden library particularly during the west gearen hidden library quest and not an even latter event involving karen and karrina.

I'd say that is the case actually. Remember, a lot of 13.5 content is funky when it comes to timing, and that's because the dev team decided to give a mercy rule to some of this new stuff to be accessible to people who had already finished v13.

So I can see this new segment with Karen and Karrina as being part of the hidden library revamp. Or hell, maybe even a new area in the den of souls. I'm mainly speculating at that point but it'll be cool regardless.

  13. Oh cool! Yeah I didn't know that at the time so I took guesses. Three mystery eggs though. Sounds awesome, even if we currently don't know if either of the new eggs are also randomized. Slight shame with the Crawli egg (due to people likely already completing the event), but so it goes. The route 2 egg is pretty good though, since barring late game stuff it'll always remain the same. Regardless thanks for the unexpected answer!

  14. Wonder if this new mystery egg for route 2 (not sure if the route 2 egg and Crawli reward egg are one and the same, so I'll just assume it is until further information) is in addition to the mystery egg you would get for trading the phantump egg or if that's being moved to the route 2 reward. Because I don't know about you, but the chance for two mystery eggs (especially if it's generous and has a smaller pool of chances i.e, pokemon like togepi and whatnot being more common. Since there's no legit way on getting said pokemon as of right now) sounds pretty neat.

Other than that the updates look pretty good. There's likely more on the way, but the sky grampa stuff I'm glad about. Having tried the smack down stratagy only for it to fail kinda blows (though I'd sooner use perish song if push comes to shove) but I could at least get it. Gym leader signature moves gotta cover weaknesses and stratagies trainers could employ, but there's also a point where it becomes too much.

Regardless I wish the team the best of luck when it comes to these balance changes!

  15. So when you say removed boss battles/rift battles, does that include the whole 'break shield' mechanic that V13 currently has? Just asking for more elaboration that's all. And does these 'boss battles' include the shadow dens in route 4 or is that routes mechanics getting an overhaul to accommodate for the boss battle removal?

Regardless the maps are fantistic and that you are getting all the breaks you could want. Keep up the good work!

Correct me if I'm wrong but that first image with the statue... its pose is the one for Arceus' attack animation in Pokemon Ranger right? Or at least similar to it?

I think? Guardian Signs is the only game I could think of that had Arceus actually attacking at one point. But with my very vague memory I can say that it looks eerily similar.

Is aevium shellos fire,poison/ground (first) and grass/ground(second)?which ever types they are they are my new favourite aevium forms .

My theory is that they'll mainly be poison types with some mysterious second typing once it evolves. Like they're sea slugs, and those guys can be poisonous. So that's what I think it'll be going for, complete with poison related abilities such as poison touch and the like, assuming the stats would change to be more physically offensive/more defensive in places.

  18. I get it's mostly a minor thing to be excited over, but I love how the shadow looks on that Arceus statue! It's something that probably didn't need to be put in, but it's a neat little detail that shows care for it.

As for the content, yeah I was more or less in agreement. When you look at the dlc as part of swsh and only one at a time it doesn't feel like a whole lot. But when you pack both of them together and look at it as a separate thing it suddenly is a whole lot of work.

I was not expecting the Shellos line though to be given the regional form treatment though! When you mentioned it I was expecting something like, 'oh here's more of Snorunt's line, complete with christmas bulb Galilee and whatever Froslass is gonna be since Terajuma is getting the big update (the Shroomish line notwithstanding).' But no it's the cute little slug mons instead. Wasn't expecting it, though on the super off chance I do another run of the game I'll see if I can fit the little guy in there. Especially if it's a shiny, you guys make good shiny sprites.

  19. I like some of the people here say to wait until the next game. Frostbite is balanced around the fact that Legends is basically a single player game as well as the agile/strong system. Imagine having freeze with that system instead of frostbite. And there's also the fact that frostbite (I think, haven't gotten to the snow area yet) can't be on ice types, so gotta program all that in as well.

And another thing is the items. While the burn orb isn't in the game itself yet, we would eventually get something similar, assuming that frostbite stays for the next game. Freeze is an annoyance yes, but how often are you packing ice type moves? Sleep is more of a team killer then frostbite is. And there's another point as well, even if it is minor: Abilities. How would those mix with this new status, and which one would get you more power from it (like if a pokemon that normally isn't ice type gets ice body be immune to the status? Or could it be clever and add in an ability that heals from it instead?).

Moves everyone has said already so the point still stands on that. But another point is how it would interact with fields. Would ice fields be able to have a chance to inflict frostbite or something similar if the damage route is taken (I think the volcano fields can inflict burn but it's been awhile so I am very likely to be wrong).

TLDR, wait until the next game rolls around, then go on from there.
