omg i don't know if it's because I've been reading Cass's previous post cuz i'm a dum dum when it comes to coding but for once I understand what is happening in this post! Hallelujah, Also kudos to Cass and the other animation team members for making this so much easier. They are walking so the future fangame creators could run XD

Honestly same. I know very little about coding (some entry level stuff, and some stuff specific to reborn for various reasons), but Cass is able to make this stuff pretty easy to follow and also coming across as barely fucking coherent while doing so. It's a pretty impressive line to walk on, good post Cass.

I have 2 badges right now. It's safe to continue with episode 19 or not? I just don't wanna lose my Gastly.

Honestly I would still restart. While Gastly is a good megg encounter, some areas before Corey are changed drastically. I'm being vague to not spoil anything, but the first 2,5 episodes are where the main improvements are.

  3. As someone who has played the beta for ~75 hours in the past week, I am STRONGLY encouraging everyone to replay the game.

The early game is so much better for 2 reasons:

    - The new gameplay is great, the new areas are cool and whatnot, the balancing and pacing are better etc.

    - The story is significantly improved. There are tonnes of new characterisation for early characters, and even for some that didn’t even show up in early game before.

A lot of the plot beats in late game hit really differently if you play the new early game. You’re missing out if you don’t.

I can definitely see a lot of strats being made around mid battle evo

I thought so too, but I looked into it and I realised most of the NFE’s with a niche are ruined by the Eviolite/Everstone change, and most of the remaining NFE’s that don’t require an Eviolite to fulfill a different purpose aren’t possible to evolve mid-battle, like Pikachu, Scyther and Porygon2.

I think the main practical use would be to use Pokémon that evolve just above the level cap, but even then, you can just use a common candy if you’re playing without a hard cap. So I think this change is ultimately just neat, and not really useful in any significant way.

One interesting thing I found is that Wingull is faster than Pelipper, so if you need the extra speed to finish something off, then evolve and set up rain a turn later, so it lasts longer. Again, extremely niche but kind of fun.

Mid battle evos: I am not quite the biggest fan of this, but that might be me being used to it, we'll see

While I think it's good, it is going to take a hell of a long time to get used to. I also hope it's well implemented, it might feel a bit wierd if your battle against Taka and ZEL with the intense music is interrupted by a cutscene with "didodido... da, da, da, da, da, da, duuun dun" playing in the background. It also has some interesting implications like using Swalot against Florinia or some of the starters' final forms against Shelly without having to use Common Candies.
Or if you wanna get real spicy you can use an NFE that has a niche, before evolving it to fit a different purpose, like killing something with Vigoroth to avoid Truant.

  6. The REDACTED can only really be one of two places: Labradorra or the Pokémon League.

We don’t really know what Labradorra looks like but I’m guessing it’s the Pokémon League because of the logo in the middle and the fact that the PokéMart is built in.

I think I have posted this a looong time ago once, but...

Back in Shade's gym, we did saw Lin "exploded" right?

I think that vision was somehow "distorted", just like how many of us interpreted Amaria jumping off that waterfall as Titania pushing her.

Perhaps, what actually is gonna happen to Lin is just like what the game title suggests.

    "Reborn"

My guess is that she is somehow going to absorb the power of Arceus, got ascended to something beyond human, and her mortal coil simply gets left behind and shatters...

Ok so a bit late to the party but the general idea is that Lin's objective is to free Arceus and remake the world, hence the world would be "Reborn".
As for Lin's death itself, we see Lin die in Never After without actually dying.
The main theory of this is that the Lin we see isn't actually a person, it's a sort of puppet. The child we hear in the Citae'd'astrae, Glitch World and Black Hole is actual child Lin (that Laura and Sigmund hint at) who, through whatever magic exists within the Citadel, hasn't aged since she went down there, similarly to Adrienn, and is using the adult Lin to pull strings to get the 4 keys and release Arceus.
This would explain why adult Lin is so much older than the child from the orphanage, and why adult Lin doesn't quite seem "human". She falls asleep and wakes up at seemingly random intervals like some wierd narcolepsy, she doesn't die from being stabbed, and she seemingly doesn't have a soul, implied by the fact that Anna couldn't see anyone riding the Hydreigon above Tanzan Mountain. In the WTC, Shade tells us something along the lines of "Four screens foretold four souls' fortune forsaken. For, forsooth, from foreshadowed, only two will be taken".
So pretty much, the screens predicted four deaths, but out of these only 2 die. Since Kiki and Corey already died, this feels like a fake out to tell us that Lin doesn't actually die as the screen forshadows. But, if Lin doesn't actually have a soul, then she might still die, and only two souls would be taken.

Yes, but Subzero Slammer negates the field, so....

Well that applies to every Ice Type move in the game regardless of whether we have Ice Beam or not. I’m more so surprised that they gave us Icium Z at this point.
