  1. I've played through all of Intense, no items, set mode, and three fights stood out to me.

The moment Saki got 2 megas was the moment I decided to Shedinja-seed her. That sort of cheapness doesn't deserve anything less than cheese; if you're going to cheese me, then I'll cheese you right back. The Geara fight beforehand was satisfying and difficult enough to be considered a final battle for this version anyway, although I get the feeling he's either a fake Geara, acting, got hypnotized somehow, or the spring healed not just his wounds but purged the pissant out of him.

Another thing I hated was that Hazuki's pokemon had negative speed EVs. To me, anything the game does that the player could not ever do with the exception of from the single-Pokemon boss battles crosses a line. I thought something was strange when the Sirfetched outsped my Quiet, 0-IV Camerupt under TR, so I looked it up and saw negative EVs on the wiki.

The other, much-earlier battle was Narcissa. Specifically, her Drifblim with Unburden + Hypnosis. The accuracy boost from the field + the enemy trainer accuracy boost in Intense (which is another thing I dislike, but whatever) makes for the fastest Pokemon in existence essentially using Spore as often as it wants. That's not an end-game boss strat, that's the third gym. No sleep-clause makes it so that you just have to sit there and hope you can wake up in time rather than switching into a reasonable response, and don't even think about using a Chesto Berry because the AI reads your items and will just attack or switch out instead. Ironically, one of the best counters for that is a Drifblim of your own if you can max its speed to KO Narcissa's with Hex.

  2. I beat him with the meme-team of five Donphans then a Wobbuffet to take down the Dragonite (extremespeed wrecks the Ice Shard strat). That's the only one of his with a priority move and he doesn't have any ghosts, so the Endeavor-Sturdy-Ice Shard combo again trivializes a single-battle gym.

Have a high-leveled one with an Ice Gem for the Gliscor, though, it won't be at 1hp due to Poison Heal.

  3. I didn't lose with anyone, but now I've got nothing 18k when I had close to a million before. My team's fine, though, so it isn't worth re-loading IMO.

Is there a fix for this? It was annoying enough to find out I was locked out of GDC when I wanted to upgrade IVs after the tournament, but this is just upsetting.

  4. Does anyone know if these changed IVs treated as "Hyper-Trained" and thus non-inheritable as they are in USUM/SWSH, or are they real IVs and therefore breedable onto new Pokemon?

Edit: For others' reference, I can confirm that the IVs are real and inheritable.

  5. Not sure which method yields Pincurchin as I haven't looked for one myself yet, but if you're hunting for one (or any Electric) I recommend leading with a Static or Lightningrod Pokemon since it boosts your chances of hitting a wild Electric-type.

  6. For all those struggling with her, I won because Power Split averaged her Sp. Attack with that of a level 45 Indeedee. After that, I purified the field and poisoned her with Pyukumuku and she choked on Sylveon long enough for her HP to drop far enough for Golisopod to finish it.

    Thanks, Focus Sash.

Not sure what level it's found but a neat trick I used to find chansey was to use a level 35 pokemon and repels. After a couple of parasect and tropius it doesn't take long for 1% chansey to appear. Maybe possible to use the same tactic for cufant depending on it's level?

The one I eventually got was level 38, so that might be the trick to getting it.

I didn't realize repels worked in the safari zone, because my magnet pull wasn't bringing in the Cufant like I'd hoped.

  8. Is Cufant found here at a particular time of day?

I want one since I saw someone saying that it's good against Angie in a Trick Room team, but I've SR'd three Safari Zone visits and not seen a single one.

Edit: Found one after many resets. It ran away.

I hate, hate, hate, hate the safari zone.

  9. I actually beat him with a similar strat to what you suggested:

Tangrowth destroys Krookodile and comes out with 100% HP due to Giga Drain and Regenerator even after tanking the Z move.

I beat Gengar by setting up Stealth Rocks by sending out my Coaloasol vs his Clefable, and then using Sucker Punch with an ev-trained Cacturne. That Cacturne also beat the Marowak with the same strat. Sucker Punch is excellent for these fights, since Cacturne's so fragile the AI always goes for the knockout if it calculates that it can get it.

Another important factor in my victory was that I started with Cinderace and immediately switched into Magic Bounce Xatu, then attacked once, then swapped back. This results in there being no entry hazards on the field, but either Geara swaps into Marowak/Krook or loses Masq with only chip damage to Cinderace from Bug Buzz.

  10. I've been grabbing pretty much everything. With the exceptions of Shinx, Mincinno, Jigglypuff, and Sawk, I think I managed to gather up everything that was available before going to Blacksteeple. My mystery egg was Dhelmise. If it's available before this point in the story, I probably have it.

I also have three Ice Shard Endeavor Donphans that I used to win the Deathwing battle, but they're hard to use against Geara's ghosts.

  11. I'm struggling with the Geara fight on the jungle bridge. It seems his Krookodile and Gengar both have 252 speed EVs, causing them to outspeed my Ev-maxed on various non-speed points Cinderace.

Is there any way to strip off EVs at this point in the game? Alternatively, if there are any good ways of dealing with Geara's team here I welcome all suggestions. I'd rather not have to make a new game, since if I can't beat this fight with what I have there isn't any way for me to proceed.

    Give your mons chesto berries

I don't believe there are any chesto berries available at this point in the game. No wild pokemon outside of Minccino carry them, IIRC.

Anyway, turns out Early Bird works just as well with a bit of luck.

  13. I'm really struggling with her on Intense.

That Drifblim in the Haunted Field is... not good.

Fastest Pokemon in the game due to Unburden + automatic use item? Check

100% Accuracy Sleep-inducing move in Haunted Field? Check.

This results in no way to even get two hits on the thing outside of Shadow Sneak or Sucker Punch, and even then it's very rare for my lead to get two hits in. I'm trying with Early Bird Houndoom, but 9/10 it seems that I can't get enough hits in with Flame Charge to outspeed it.

I was hoping Intense would require clever strategies, not hoping my Sucker Punch pokemon will wake up after the second turn or getting swept/half my team destroyed by it.

Turns out that using Houndoom and Alola Raticate worked, as well as Rattled Gear Shift Sudowoodo to set up on the Mimikyu after I charmed it a couple times with Boltund.

  14. Victory.

    Team and used moves:

Mr. Mime with Icy Wind and Reflect

Ex-Shadow Quagsire with Flame Burst, Water Pulse, Recover

    Carkol with Smack Down, Incinerate

Fearow with Pursuit and Aerial Ace (Keta switches a lot! Got some important damage on his Gallade with a little chip from Pursuit)

Dedenne x2 with Charm, Charge, Nuzzle, Parabolic Charge.

All Pokemon except Cheek Pouch Dedenne had Berry Juice, the Dedenne had an Oran Berry.

  15. I've been struggling with Spirit Keta for a day and a half. No matter what I do, it feels like it isn't enough.

Possibly relating to the fact that his diverse team is two evolutions away from one that you might see on a Champion in a main-series game, I've found myself completely stonewalled and unable to make progress. It's like if Cynthia came down after you beat Gardenia in DPPT, and instead of giving you an egg, demanded you fight her in order to proceed.

I'm willing to get any pokemon available up to that point, and I've found some things do work: Carkol beats Ninetales, and Dedenne does well against Gallade or Lapras. Since the field was removed for V13, pokemon that used to take advantage of the blessed field that used to be there don't work as well anymore.

My starter was Scorbunny with Libero, but it as a Raboot doesn't seem to help with this fight. I'll take any advice or suggestions. I'm desperate, and I just want to beat this so I can go back to enjoying the game again.

    Thank you.

  16. That new art looks really good, like official-commercial-art tier really good. It also does a good job of matching the canon art style for the main series games, but also is enough of its own style.

And I still want to punch Geara in the face so hard his little red streaks fall out. Multiple times, if possible. Even knowing everything current about him, it's still impossible for me to forgive the crap he pulled.

  17. Furret: Whenever Furret boosts its stats via a status move, it increases its ally Pokemon's stats by one level each of each stat boosted (ex. Agility only raises Speed by one despite Furret getting two levels, but Coil grants Furret's partner a boost in Attack, Defense, and Accuracy).

Delcatty: Whenever Delcatty ends the turn without being targeted by a move, all of its stats increase by one level each.

Delibird: Grants an effect identical to Prankster ability. If Delibird is knocked it in a double battle and its partner is still active, its partner is healed by 1/2 its max HP.

Grumpig: Once per round of combat, if Grumpig is at low enough health to eat a Berry, it will get the effect of a Sitrus Berry and restore its health. (Think of it like Leftovers but only active during lowered health and stronger).

Poliwrath: Increase its Defense and Sp. Def by 1.2x each. Increase its Accuracy by 30%.

Primeape: Increase its Speed by 1.2x. All hits on Primeape become Critical Hits.

Victreebel: All stat reductions done on enemy Pokemon are doubled. Victreebel can Poison Steel-Types and other Poison-Types.

Decidueye: All two-turn attacks (Solar Beam, Sky Attack, Phantom Force) only take one turn to use instead and their power is increased by 25%.

Primarina: Increase the power of all Sound-Based moves by 30%.

Incineroar: Reduce its Defense and Sp. Defense stats by 1.3, double its Speed, and increase its Attack by 1.25.

Lapras: Reduce the damage done by Fighting and Rock-type moves to Lapras by half.

Jolteon: Attack becomes equal to Speed.

Flareon: Poisons Flareon as Toxic Orb. Flareon no longer takes damage from Status Conditions or Traps (Spikes, Stealth Rock etc.)

Vaporeon: Whenever the Weather or Terrain changes, Vaporeon is cured of all Status Conditions.

Sylveon: Misty Terrain activates upon switch-in.

Espeon: Whenever the opponent's Pokemon or team is effected by a targeted status move (whether the source is Espeon's attack or a Magic-Bounced attack), increase this Pokemon's Sp. Atk by one level.

Umbreon: Umbreon becomes Dark/Poison typing. All Normal moves used by Umbreon become Poison-type.

Omastar: Rock-Type moves calculate damage using Omastar's Sp. Atk stat.

Kabutops: Draining moves (Absorb, Mega Drain, Giga Drain) calculate damage using Kabutops's Attack stat.

Bellossom: Whenever Bellossom's HP would be restored by an amount, if the weather is Sunny, Bellossom's HP is restored to full instead.

Vileplume: Pokemon that Vileplume with a contact move are swapped with a random Pokemon from the enemy trainer's party. Vs. wild encounters, nothing happens.

Girafarig: Girafarig's contact moves gain a 100% chance to Confuse enemy Pokemon that it hits.

Cradily: Reduce the damage done by Fighting and Steel-type moves to Cradily by half.

Armaldo: Increase Speed by 1.2x. Armaldo gains immunity to Water-type attacks.

Tropius: Harvest is active regardless of weather. Whenever this Pokemon eats a Berry, its ally Pokemon also gain that Berry's effect.

  18. Wailord: Increases Wailord's Defense and Special Defense by 1.25x and causes it to use a random move instead of it not acting whenever it begins its turn asleep (think auto-Sleep Talk)

Hitmonlee: Increases Speed by 1.25x and accuracy by 10%.

Hitmonchan: Sp. Atk becomes equal to Sp. Defense. All moves triggered by Iron Fist becomes Special moves.

Hitmontop: When this Pokemon switches in, all enemy Pokemon's Sp. Atk is reduced by one stage. Increase power of moves triggered by Technician by 1.25 (after Technician boost).

Mantine: Increase Defense by 1.25x. Reduce Electric-type damage done to this Pokemon by half.

Chesnaught: Reduces Super-Effective damage done to this Pokemon by half. Whenever an enemy Pokemon is dealt damage in a way other than a direct attack or by a status condition, that damage is doubled.

Delphox: Whenever a "Magical" move is used, restore own HP by 25%. "Magical" moves are: Mystical Fire, Will-O-Wisp, Magic Room, Trick, Magic Coat, Dazzling Gleam, Lucky Chant, Future Sight, Hidden Power, Dream Eater, Hypnosis, and Skill Swap.

Greninja: Ability becomes Battle Bond and can take the form of Battle Bond Greninja.

Stunfisk: Increase Sp. Atk by 2x and Speed by 1.5x (If you've played Insurgence, you'll remember Taen and his super Stunfisk...)

Liligant: Grass-Type Attacks used by this Pokemon ignore type resistances. Increase Speed, Defense, and Sp. Def each by 1.1x

Samurott: Increase Power of all Blade moves by 1.5x (Blade moves are Razor Shell, Slash, Fury Cutter, X-Scissor, Air Slash, Sacred Sword, Night Slash, and Slash and Burn) and Speed by 1.25x.

Emboar: Double Emboar's Weight, increase its Defense and Special Defense by 1.25x each, and restore its HP by 25% whenever it faints a Pokemon.

Serperior: In Double Battles, all Stat-level affecting moves that target automatically target Serperior (for example, if your Pokemon or your opponent's Pokemon used Charm, it would hit Serperior instead of any other target).

  19. That's an interesting bit about Yveltal.

Referring to a "him" linked to the Yveltal implies that Vitus might not be currently in Yveltal's form, but instead Vitus is dormant somewhere since Yveltal's been captured by X.

Alternatively, Team Xen is wrong about their conclusion, and that Vitus, X's enemy, is in fact in her Pokeball the entire time.

After a lot and I mean a LOT! Of discussion I finally have a theory as to who Madame X is.

She is the daughter of Vitus and Nymeria!

I'll be providing my explanation asap, but I just had to share it.

I suppose it makes sense if X's skin color matches Nymiera's Sashilan tone. Although, that means

    Spoiler

    Erin, Melia, Alice, and Allen

all have a big sister their dad never said anything about. If my prediction that Vitus=Yveltal is right, then... ooh, those implications. Naughty, naughty bird...

I don't think so... Discovered this randomly while I'm was testing Silvally's future potential. BTW the other Dewpider in Forlorned Cave as overworld encounters have these moves too.

You're right. I just checked mine's moves, and it's got the same Vulpix moveset. Too bad it didn't copy something useful like Heracross and get Megahorn. I'm not any closer to finding the answer to triggering the move replication glitch again, but thanks for responding!
