  1. I've had an idea percolating about an "alternate path" fic or maybe mod where the protagonist joins up with Bladestar permanently.

The thing is, Flora's not wrong about wanting Xen exterminated no matter the cost, seeing as

    Spoiler

they're most likely killer robots from another dimension

--she's just an idiot about it. I mean, she's got the most powerful pokemon in existence completely loyal to her, and she uses a bomb on the tournament?

It's like she's designed the best flyswatter in existence, and throws a bucket of water at a few flies in her house. It makes a mess, makes everyone mad at her, and misses the flies by a mile.

No. Use the darn Ferrothorn to rip apart the venue and target the top seats if she has to, but setting off a bomb when she has a few targets (among them Xen, which are notably durable except for the human Admins) is just stupid and doesn't do anything but serve to turn people against her. If the protagonist and their allies were at her side, they might serve to temper her rashness or at least serve to be the Lin to her Solaris and take over Bladestar and turn it into a true anti-Xen organization if Flora's already too far gone.

You mentioned megahorn but I don't see a way to get it where I'm at now, is there something I'm missing?

Also is there a good way to get the king rock? I've been grinding for hours and didn't find one.

The way I got 3 King's Rocks in a matter of minutes was to catch everything in Tanzan Cove except for Poliwhirl and give my Compound Eyes pokemon the Magnetic Lure held item acquired by giving one of the NPCs in Beryl exactly $5000 at once. Poliwhirls only appear in the mornings. That way, you will only encounter Poliwhirl and have a good chance of having it carry the King's Rock.

Huh. I was wrong. It turns out that Megahorn is an egg move for Karrablast from Heracross or Scolipede, not something it or Escavalier learns by level-up. One would think that a Bug with a horn would learn Megahorn on its own...

Thanks, I'll probably go for Tsareena or Spiritomb.

Also I caught a Karablast while grinding them up. Lv 48, thoughts?

Are you utilizing the EXP candy trainers in the Grand Hall and the Power held items (from the dept store)? Those'll make grinding much faster.

As for Karrablast, save and make sure you're actually able to evolve it with a Link Stone before you train it. If not, you'll need to catch a Shelmet from Azurine and trade it in Spinel Town to get Escavalier.

Escavalier would make an excellent King, actually, but as you'll want to invest in its HP, you should try to get a King's Rock from the Poliwhirls in Tanzan Cove (morning, bring a pokemon with Compound Eyes such as Butterfree or Venonat and catch them or use Thief/Covet) and give it to Escavalier before the fight to lock it into being the King and fire off priority Megahorn and Iron Head.

  4. Recommendations:

Tsareena utterly destroys Radomus. Her Queenly Majesty ability completely nulls Metagross (the King) and boosts her damage by 1.5x, easily letting her 1HKO Slowking while protecting whatever else from Metagross. I've had Radomus with Metagross just sitting there like a lump while Tsareena was out, allowing me to gang up on his other pokemon until Metagross was alone.

Tsareena is easily acquired as well, as all it takes is getting the Glameow from the Glamazonia, showing it to the happiness checker in the other salon, and beating her lv45 Tsareena.

Spiritomb: Its priority attacks in Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak are effective on Radomus's team and receive a boost from the field. Take an Odd Keystone to the back room in Bysbyxion Tunnels to catch one.

Honchkrow: It's slow enough that it isn't ideal for most gyms, but a well-placed Brave Bird should send Gallade packing and its Sucker Punch is boosted by the field. Just be careful of getting hit by almost any attack that isn't Psychic type, as many attacks will have Rock added. Honchkrow is more complicated, as it requires clearing the Aqua/Magma gang questline then bringing Pokesnacks to Aqua's hideout at night while it's windy.

  5. I just beat him on Pulse2 (all enemy pokemon have +252 EVs in each stat and 31 IVs) + 0 player EVs passwords active with three pokemon. It shouldn't be as nearly as hard without those passwords enabled, so I recommend you use:

Forretress: Set up Spikes, maybe deal with Cincinno if you don't want it to be the active enemy pokemon. Gyro Ball should hit fairly hard and the Grassy Field will help keep Forretress active.

Male Meowstic: Prankster dual screens with Light Clay is excellent for sweeping his entire team. You can also use Charm to cripple Cincinno or others, but Noel may switch it out after one or two uses of Charm.

A setup pokemon. I used Blaziken since it was my starter and pretty much the strongest there is, but Klinklang may work as may a pokemon with Quiver Dance, Calm Mind+Simple Swoobat, or others. Note that for the Quiver Dance pokemon or Swoobat, you'll want them to set up on a special-attacker and thus you'll need to get rid of Cincinno first. That may necessitate a pokemon with Mach Punch if possible.

Notes: Clefable has Magic Guard, not Unaware, so it won't break your sweep easily.

Bewear has Fluffy, which makes it resist all contact-making moves (i.e. most physical attacks) that aren't Fire-type.

  6. If Lin's too young to have her current body, but Terra isn't, then I would guess that lends credence to my theory of Lin and Terra inhabiting the same (Terra's) body.

If Terra changed around when Lin arrived, that could be the start of the possession. Whether Lin's body still exists anywhere is unknown, but if she was somehow harmed by Sigmund, I expect he would be very, very dead.

This is a woman who killed a worthy opponent just to have her out of the way and sacrificed her ally's son. The fact that Sigmund is working with Meteor and is still alive probably doesn't agree with him ever having hurt Lin.

    • Hmm 1
  7. Is there anything to the theory that Lin and Terra are the same person?

Or at least inhabiting the same body, similarly to ZEL

Terra has been shown to be able to create life: the digital world she made and lures the player into has real Pokemon that can be brought out and used outside of it. They are living beings, and they aren't just Porygon.

The ability to generate life ex nihilo would arguably make her the most powerful "human" character in the setting.

Lin herself also has an anomalous ability: she's seemingly immortal.

There's also the orphanage connection between the two of them.

What if there's some sort of power split between them: Terra gets Arceus's ability to create life (as seen in HG/SS with the baby legendaries, as one example) and Lin has the blessing of invulnerability.

    • Hmm 2

Speaking of that, weird that Sigmund survives a Hyper Beam from Saphira's Dragonite at the Belrose Mansion. It is not a great special attacker but still, a damn Dragonite.

He's kind of a mysterious character, and we know that in at least one scenario Lin can survive an otherwise-fatal sword wound.

Ol' Siggy Balls Sigmund Fraud might be a similar superhuman, especially if he's a link to the Lin/Terra conundrum.

  9. I have rather strong feelings on children being online at all, but being this a Pokemon website and thus infested with them I'll keep my opinions to myself. If folks feel the need to kvetch about anything, they should be taking it out elsewhere on the official Pokemon games, for which developers are paid to make subpar products for the most lucrative franchise in the world.

Either that, or we might be dealing with capital G Gamers upset about our new cute new Meteor admin and making trouble in ways that won't get them caught instantly.

Keep up the good work! I've played thousands of hours between every Pokemon game since the first generation up to SwSh, so I like to think I know what I'm talking about when I say you've done a wonderful job over the years.

    Hi!

    1. Yes, the Pokédex is also updated with gen 8 mons!

    2. With the altforms and plate mechanics disabled, you still have access to the new sidequests, and most of the new trainers uses normal Pokémon. Two sidequests still feature alternate form Pokémon on enemy teams, though!

And I feel I should elaborate on the plans for this when Reborn Episode 19 comes!

This version of the mod will not at all be compatible with Pokémon Reborn, Episode 19 when it comes out.

When Pokémon Reborn, Episode 19 does come out, I will not be immediately updating this mod out of respect for the game and its creators, to reduce confusion over Episode 19's content and to give people a chance to enjoy a clean experience of Episode 19.

So Plates of Arceus, Episode 1 will come out at least a few months after Reborn Episode 19.

The hypothetical release of Reborn E19 is in Spring 2022, so the hypothetical release of an E19 version of Plates of Arceus would be late Summer 2022 with PoA Episode 1.

If you've got any concepts for alt-forms that you'd specifically want to be in Episode 1 for story or other reasons, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, if you let me know which (if any) of my sprites you think you'll be using in Episode 1 or earlier, I'll try and get shinies finished for them.

Are you planning on making a fan game with these, or are you just making these for fun?

I was going to make a fangame at one point, but I couldn't get the RPGMXP or whatever it was that Reborn runs on to compile properly so I got distracted by other stuff.

I haven't made any more for a while, but I figured it'd be better to let other people here use them for whatever they wanted rather than let them languish on my computer.

Tsareena's line is positively terrifying but it's good design, it definitively sticks in my mind. I love Silvally too, for some reason to me it looks like its fur is covered in frost. Magnemite makes me think of potato Glados it's hilarious. Can't way to see Primarina, good job on these sprites! 😄

Tsareena's intended to be a Poison/Fairy line, inspiration was the concept of a cursed apple/evil queen motif such as seen in Snow White.

Magnemite and Magneton were supposed to be barrels containing liquid, and Magnezone's unfinished design is a big barrel with sparkers to light its alcohol on fire... not sure how I want to proceed with it, though.

If you search something like Silvally Arceus fake leak you might find where I got the design. Someone did some art of a more Arceus-like Silvally, and it made its way onto the image search as a fake leak image.

  13. I figured since I decided to share my art with the Plates Reborn mod, I figured I'd post what I have here.

Feel free to use it for any games you'd want, and suggest shiny styles~

    12/26/2021: Added Mega Gardevoir.

12/28/2021: Added shiny Sigilyph and Boltund

  14. Are you interested in taking more sprites at the moment? I've done some work on a few of my own and if you want to use them, go ahead.

Bug/Steel Kricketune, as the example. I also have Lapras, Ralts line, Nosepass line with a bonus Mega Probopass, Crustle line, variant Sigilyph, Bounsweet line, alternate Silvally, alternate Mimikyu, and alternate Boltund. I have suggested stats and abilities for each, if you don't feel like coming up with your own for any of them.

  15. For Nuzlocke runs, what happens with the almost-unwinnable battles?

The Deathwing fight at Aqua, the X-Yveltal at Blacksteeple etc.

I just fought Madelis's shadow mewtwo and three of my pokemon fainted and weren't revived after the end of the battle, so I figured I'd ask before I give up the run.

Edit: revive items work, so I guess there's no reason to quit the run quite yet.

  16. I can't get it to work. I'm putting the Mods folder into the data folder and copying over the map.001 file, but nothing happens.

I also tried copying the ruby files directly from the mods folder into the scripts folder, but that makes it so the game won't load past the opening images.

This is on v13.05, with only the Challenge Pack installed as I was only interested in a Nuzlocke with random encounters.

This randomizer is only wild/acquired pokemon, right?

  17. What if Erin gave up her body/Archetype fragment to Melia to save her from the Genesis Syndrome and was transferred into a mechanical body?

It seems like the sort of thing Erin would do, considering she's desperate to save her sister and doesn't seem the type to give a damn whether she's a person or in a person-shaped can. Considering that she mentioned that she was considering taking her own life before she met Melia, I can definitely believe she would go that far to keep Melia from dying.

That Erin of the previous or alternate timeline would eventually go into different mechanical bodies until she reached the one we know as Madame X. Something must've happened to her along the way, over unknown years, to drive her to her current state and goals. Maybe the cost of what she did was to live in misery until she gets the Archetype back, or maybe she's learned of something that she needs Melia to do but the latter wouldn't be willing to do it. Perhaps the Xenpurgis is intended to prevent some greater tragedy, or by doing this she's sacrificing this reality to save another one.

  18. If you're desperate, you can get a Trubbish (low level ones start with Recycle) and teach it Fling and Thief with TMs.

After that, find a trainer with a Focus Sash, use Thief, then Fling, then Recycle. If by chance the Sash gets used up on Garbodor taking a hit before you Fling, just use Recycle.

That's how I scored an extra one.

That said, Garb is a weak Pokemon, and you'll want to max its Speed and HP EVs to make this work well.

  19. I unironically support Truck Driver as an E8 member.

I mean, the dude can drive you across the ocean (anywhere off Gearen), through Wispy Canyon or over the mountains, instantly. In a pickup truck.

My bet? Psychic-type-based Baton Pass Stored Power sweep team.

It'd make sense for a guy who's all about traveling.

Rorim's also not too much of a stretch. Yeah, he's goofy, but he wanders all around Aevium and seems to have a habit of showing up where the player character is. I wonder if he's keeping an eye on the PC on purpose due to being an E8 member and working with Alexandra et al.

If Augustus was E8-material, I feel like he'd have given the Xens attacking the ship a lot harder of a time, and someone at Blacksteeple would at least mention something like, "Damn, that old captain took out ten Deathwings before we brought him down!" or something like that.

It would be interesting for 4 of the Elites to be based around a specific type/field and the other four to be based around specific strategies as seen in Insurgence's four.

Also, is there any credence to the theory that Karrina and Karen are the same person at different points in her timeline due to Spacea/Tiempa being the haggises that they are and messing with her?

  20. In the v13.02 I beat it on, it doesn't have infinite PP like other bosses.

I beat it by swapping back and forth between a Storm Drain Gastrodon and a Lapras after hitting it with paralysis with my first mon and as many Eerie Pulses as I could with Electrode, then Memento from a Pyukumuku.

I beat it when it started struggling by Recover-ing on Gastrodon. Not the prettiest way to do it, and I don't know if it'll work in 13.04, but it got the job done.

  21. So something crossed my mind.

We know it's possible to carry souls around. The soulstone the player carries, whatever Crescent did after she juiced the Nihilegos to get the A-team's souls back, etc.

What if Madame X is someone we know's soul put into a machine body as we saw in the Amethyst Caves? It's not as functional as she'd like since the controls might not be perfect (Ren glitching out when he gets whacked), but it might also explain her Terminator-like resilience and unfamiliar appearance.

Another idea I've had is, to figure out the culprit, we need to figure out their motivations.

We already know Team Xen's current goal involves sacrificing an enormous amount of people, similar to Father in Fullmetal Alchemist's giant circle.

Garufan magic costs lives to create stuff. Crests are the most prominent example, but it's certainly possible that there might be some sort of "Human Crest" created by sacrificing human lives, and that the battling and violence that Xen appreciated on Blacksteeple may be part of the ceremony.

Another important question to consider is, "What is Garufan magic?" The civilizations we saw from a previous loop of existence (as they're stated to have no Pokemon left by both Ana and by material found in the Den of Souls) seemed far more scientific than magical, but that might be because they were at the very tail-end of their timeline.

I wonder if there's anything else that might explain Team Xen's motivations.
