I will rephrase the question then, I meant which do you use the most, I get that some natures are better on some mons.

EDIT: I also did say "typically" in the title for a reason btw. No nature is the one size fits all option, but I imagine some natures tend to be more desirable then others.

It's a very bland question because all pokemon will be better under certain natures than others. Like for example if you're using a blaziken then you're best using adamant or jolly. If you're using an alakazam then modest or timid. It literally depends on what pokemon you're using.

  2. I kinda like this 'feature' and I'm unsure if it's known to devs...

Anyway for the past few versions it's been possible to teleport (I use natu) back to gearen city whilst on route 7 way up until you board the train to GDC. This means you can theoretically get the grass gym badge and the HM for strength whilst going back to Gearen to take advantage of things like the pokemon vendor in cratos mountain, getting feebas/tm for solar beam, etc.

Sorry if this is well know bug, I just thought it was a nice gimmick.

  3. You need a balance of pokemon, especially for higher difficulties. Having 6 glass cannons on your team usually doesn't work, especially when the field/terrain is against you. Also 6 defensive stall mons don't work, especially since we dont have important tms like toxic and stealth rocks yet. On intense difficulty it's not uncommon to use around 15-20 pokemon in rotation to get past some of the toughest battles.

I've just finished an intense run and the only pokemon I remember using in every battle was eviolite porygon 2.

Can someone explain the repel strategy to me? I don't get it I'm afraid.

Repels keep weaker pokemon from appearing for a certain number of steps, but not pokemon on the same or higher level than the pokemon at the front of your party.

So for example if you use a repel and the leading pokemon in your party is level 35, then anything level 34 and below won't appear, but level 35 and higher will appear. In this case its a good way to hunt rarer pokemon in the safari zone.

Honestly?  V13's kinda making me consider the exact same thing and I don't blame you for quitting in the absolute slightest.  I might make my own post about this later (or if I ever have the stomach for it), but, in a nutshell, I feel like easy difficulty and casual mode are anything BUT easy OR casual - nothing about easy difficulty or casual mode suggest that you'll be ripping your hair out as early as the first Gym of the game.

If casual mode is too difficult then with all due respect maybe pokemon fan games aren't for you.

The one I eventually got was level 38, so that might be the trick to getting it.

I didn't realize repels worked in the safari zone, because my magnet pull wasn't bringing in the Cufant like I'd hoped.

Ah it should work then. Just save before you enter the safari zone. Lead with a level 38 pokemon and spam repels. It should only take a couple of mins.

  7. Not sure what level it's found but a neat trick I used to find chansey was to use a level 35 pokemon and repels. After a couple of parasect and tropius it doesn't take long for 1% chansey to appear. Maybe possible to use the same tactic for cufant depending on it's level?

  8. It ruins intense mode for me. Intense mode was a good challenge when the EV rooms where still around. Now the removal of the training rooms makes it close to impossible. People will ev train either way but it kinda takes the fun element out of the game when you have to grind for hours instead of a few minutes.

Maybe make them available at the start but at the cost of 15/20 AP instead of 10?

  9. Same as the above post, I play Intense/set mode.

I feel removing the EV training rooms was incredibly harsh on players who play this way. It's challenging enough some good mons like Rockruff were moved till a lot later in the game, I can welcome that. Moving the EV rooms so far back in the game though makes this difficulty nigh on impossible. In battles that are already incredibly stacked against you, every ev placement counts in those clutch moments, I would love for the devs to bring it back in a later update. People will EV train either way, it just wastes peoples time for no reason by grinding 100s of pokemon for evs.

Any advice I could give is Swoobat is definitely an mvp in the early game. Breed one with natu for stored power, along with simple ability and calm mind (lvl 29) it can sweep some early gyms.

Hariyama is also great in the early game, surprised it wasn't moved till later. Pacharisu is nice for using nuzzle and spamming electro ball. Seviper can be useful for the first couple of gyms too.

I had growlithe, crocanaw and phanphy, i dont know if it switched since v12, i had a lot of trouble with this also and i wasn't wating revives on a virtual gym so i kind of just gorgot about it. If it switched to onix that would make it easier

Ah, maybe starting with Cyndaquil is when you have Onix then... Maybe try using a rollout with Phanphy? But yeah I agree these battles can be tough, I remember wasting my X items on them

  11. I forget don't you have Onix if you pick Totodile? I just remember taking out Clefairy with Crocnaw/Growlithe and then using Onix to use a few curse's against Miltank (whilst healing with potions) and you can take Miltank and Wigglytuff down with Rock Tomb

  12. Anything with Ice Shard (I use Mamoswine) is great at taking down Flygon's in the game. Speed Boost Blaziken is good at taking down Greninja with high jump kick if you can get a speed boost off first. (If you don't have Blaziken I think Lucario can take a hit from Greninja and KO it back with high jump kick).

Galvantula with sticky web can help in the long run, lowering the speed of any incoming pokemon. It can be the decider of KO'ing a pokemon first before being Ko'd yourself.

On a side note I used Absol a lot for difficult battles. If you get one with Super Luck holding a Zoom Lens you can make it have 100% crit ratio with moves like night slash and psycho cut, and 50% crit ratio with normal moves like Sucker Punch and play rough. It's a great move set for Absol and got me out of a lot of difficult situations.

Thank you for your response! Where in Darchlight Cave would it be?

Sort of in the middle, if you use the itemfinder you should find it without much trouble
