I know, I said that Nappy is enjoying the game. I was saying to Commander that Nappy may choose to play Redux or normal Reborn as he's living loving the game.

I think they added in the rule the episode before the Bennett one.

I can understand that, but what about the other four? Those are the guys I'm a bit more concerned about due to whats been going on in the playthrough and the amount of redshirts they were going through.

Also, cool, I'll catch up on these all, starting at... whatever episode I left off on.

I mean if you're really sick of watching this then don't watch it. Goodness I've just been reading this topic just for kicks and entertainment (only watching videos to sometimes see what the heck you're talking about). I'm not trying to self advertise here, but I could picture him coming back and instead of doing a nuzlocke trying the Redux version. Unfortunately I only have a dev build (able to add or modify things) so there's no playable E18 version yet. I mean he actually does try to use strategies but the nuzlocke rules and rare candy cheats do make their Pokemon so weak they die so quickly and easily creating an endless cycle.

That's what I did at least three or four episodes ago? I just dropped on by the thread to see if anything has changed, hoped they decided to drop the arbitrary nuzlocke rule, but it seems they haven't. First thing I see when looking at the last few pages is someone unexpected overcoming adversity with someone else shouting bs because of whatever reason that happened. While Nappy does tend to utilize strats, some of the others aren't usually privy to the same exceptions due to a snowballing effect, save for the few times where it did sort of happen (looking at you Cain and the Wasteland). But yes, the nuzlocke and rare candy cheats don't do them too many favors. They lose a pokemon, lose all the training and need to play catch up, they utilize rare candies to get them up to speed, failing to iv train the pokemon up, they die, rinse and repeat, complaining or agonizing screams optional. Sometimes the cycle is broken, but albeit temporarily.

I do want to return to the series and watch em play the game out, but just in this state... bleh. I want someone to ask them if they're having fun. Like have a short talk about it all, etc.

The only things that really bugs me is some of the voices they give (Eclipse having a dude's voice for example) and Nexus being way too loud at times (he says some funny stuff but seems like he has a lack of indoor voice). I'm enjoying the series and am laughing at some of the shenanigans they get up to, at least it isn't several hours spent on one puzzle when the path ahead is kinda obvious. That caused me to shout at the screen when I watched Shofu do the Route 2 puzzle years ago. The series enjoyment has renewed for me when they brought in the revive rule.

Nappy will play either or as he is really enjoying this game despite his cries of "This is bullshit!", "This is ass!" or "That's busted!", etc.

Oh? When did they add that rule?

Also, he's enjoying the game... it's honestly hard to tell sometimes if they're enjoying it sometimes, especially Nappy at certain points.

The comment section is more entertaining then the actual episodes at this point

I probably should of done this instead of just dropping the series. At this point, while there will be some upsets and victories, I just predict the same crap is just going to happen again and again. It isn't entertaining at this point to keep the Nuzlocke up or watch it happen. Sure, certain things will happen, but I question one thing - are they having fun? Its hard to tell sometimes and I'm pretty sure I have confirmation bias at this point from it all. If anything, wouldn't it be better to swallow their pride and just end the Nuzlocke? At this point, it would be more enjoyable to come up with their own team compositions and strats to handle the gym leaders instead of going with whatever the game throws at em'; would probably provide for some better commentary as well. Have other opinions, but will leave that for later if it gets brought up again.

Should of said that a while back, but it feels nice to get that off my chest when coming back to see how the penta-op is doing. Anyways, grats to Twit and Nexus; might watch the episode, etc.

  4. Haven't watched the episode, but from the comments in this thread, seems like Nappy finally got bodied with Twit saving the whole Penta-Op... I only have two comments - oof, and the fact that some people were somewhat right about them getting rekt at Shade.

Looks like overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

  5. Aye, I have to say they did handle Shelly pretty well... well, most of them anyways. Currently, I'm torn between them continuing the nuzlocke and failing it.

Though I am curious about everyone's thoughts on a rather important subject... what voices do you think they'll give to Shade, Kiki, and Cal?

  6. 3 minutes ago, Wolfox said:

that tier list stuff is 90% Nexus, if not 99%. Jay will make what he has work usually. NAPPY tries to see the power in what he has (Luminion is one of his powerhouses right now), Mo will just do what he can and Twit... is Twit

I need to do a better job of differentiating between them all... also, even if it is just Nexus, I honestly don't remember when the words (or something similar to) "<X> is shit," or something. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I swear someone complained about a pokemon during this new episode and I can't remember if it was Nappy being disappointed about getting a Remoraid, or Nexus saying something about a poke.

Also, another question I forgot to ask everyone, but which gang do you all think they'll join?

  7. I'm curious over if they'll manage to get the Yureyu and possibly diverge the paths of their respective stories. What path do you guys think they'll take at each part of the story, even if it's a while away/possibly a pipe dream? Also...

I'm hoping that if Nappy does happen to lose that they continue to play it through but just normally. It'll still be difficult and filled with rage but it'd be cool to see the teams they would pick.

Can't help but agree with this, but I'm pretty sure they all have to lose at the same time. Regardless, a normal playthrough would be a much more enjoyable experience than watching them stress out over losing or sacing a mon and getting irked at a bunch of things... also wouldn't hurt if they read more, but w/e. If anything, a general criticism that I have with them doing this nuzlocke is the learning curve. I'm just speculating, but I feel that doing a nuzlocke caused them to stagnate on picking up some strats and learning, more so blind... ish. While I do believe they can weave some strats together, it's rather that it is very limited due to them losing pokemon left and right. Even though some persist, one day that poke will be a fleeting dream, which brings me to another point.

They don't seem to "appreciate" the mons as much. I mean, I do believe they consider each mon they get valuable, but in the sense that it keeps the nuzlocke running a bit longer. They're either saying this mon is good, shit, etc.... but mostly shit from what I recall and basing it off the tiers they're in. I think they might be... sort of... moving past this, but I'm rather unsure. Regardless, if they weren't doing a nuzlocke, they could keep certain pokemon in their party, train them, and put them into a situation in which said mon shines, whether on accident or purpose, which would probably make them respect the mon... maybe.

Despite these changes, I think I'll forever be a bit salty they didn't get the Growlithe before fighting Taka and ZEL.

I think Nexus is going to laugh about the chatot until it blows his team back and Jay will lose half his team.

Don't remind me about that Chatot... I remember that thing on my first playthrough of Reborn and it always ended with me having to reset against it and fight him again. It was much more of a problem than the Tangrowth and whatever other pokemon he had. They're going to have a terrible time.

I wonder if they're going to make jabs about Taka's ace until it begins to destroy them.

let's be completely honest here, few people here checked every single corner of Reborn on their first run through the game. especially considering they're still in the early game, you know, the section that is usually the section that explains it all, I can see them get far once they get their sea legs.

I can understand that, yes, but I think it has to do with the fact that people have this knowledge in the back of their mind, or an easy access to a walkthrough on the forums. Maybe it reminds the viewers of some of their mistakes they made on Reborn. But despite it all, as much as I don't like their mistakes, I still think going in blind to a certain degree was a good choice. Keeps things spiced up a bit, they don't know what the exactly is going to happen next and it might leave a bit of an impression.

Well what makes Florinia fight extra difficult for the nuzlocke is the Fern fight right before. They're definitely losing some mons in that battle, and can only get one new mon in Onyx rooftop garden.

Technically can't they get two from the Onyx Rooftop Garden? A Pichu due to it being a static event mon and some other random mon?

  11. I'm questioning whether or not nuzlocking the game was the smartest of ideas. I'm also questioning if they'll even make it to Solaris; I at least want to witness their reactions to trying to beat a level 75 Garchomp with a team that's more ill-equipped to handle him than most teams.

But still, Jay reminds me of myself a bit during my first time going at it in Reborn... I wiped so many times against Julia, so I sort of get his pain...

The aftermath loss was still funny though.

  12. 10 minutes ago, Abyssreaper99 said:

I don't think they'll get that far but Solaris is considered a fight you shouldn't win. El is very defeatable though as long as they use the right strats.

Also everyone knows Julia as our resident crazy, coffee-addicted, pyromanic

You're mixing up a bit of Charlotte with Julia Abyss.

I would say "cheerleader with a bombastic personality," heh.

  13. I wonder what other mistake's they'll make in future episodes...

Other than taking for granted certain pokemon, as well as not poking around in different places. One thing I'm certain they'll probably miss is the Growlithe from the Police sidequest + the egg pokemon they can get out of it all; your guys thoughts?

  14. 15 minutes ago, Arys said:

I think they can beat Julia as long as they have evolved pokemon among theirs, but I'm not sure they can beat Florinia with it.

Pretty sure Nappy has the advantage when handling Florinia since he has a Monferno on him; he should be able to do some decent damage against her ace with the monkey as long as rngesus doesn't screw him over...

  15. Can't wait to hopefully participate. I'm looking forward to have fun with the... murder mystery.

Who wants to talk about murders?! Will we have a debate to figure out whodunit after investigating? Will we be punished if we don't figure out who the blackened is? :^)

  16. Torchic for me gets my vote due to multiple reasons; for one, why not start her off with a more fitting pokemon than one you can get in the region that you fight her? Regardless, I wonder what fire types she'll go with... other than possibly grabbing a Torkoal.

  17. I've got nothing for Toxicroak or Nidoqueen, but I do have something for Wolfox...

    Need a name:

Bisharp (regular, have one for Shiny)

    Kingdra

    Hariyama

Bisharp - Cauchon, the Bishop who presided over the execution of Jeanne d'Arc.

    Kingdra - Leviathan

Hariyama - ... I've got nothing for this either now that I think about it.

  18. ... so too will you rot away.

Well, I have no idea where to go forward with this other than guten tag, even though it's nearly twelve for me here. Guess I'll just go off the checklist in the How to Welcome Yourself Thread and make myself scarce.  I can already tell that I'm messing up based on the part where it states "what you say in that first post lets us see straight through and into your mind, letting us know exactly who you are." Maybe I should of gone with something Ib themed to spice things up?

    Eh, whatever.

Heya, I'm Savo, a (not so) longtime lurker one these forums that found Reborn a couple of years ago and abruptly ditched the place faster than you can say it's free real estate. Later on, lost my main save file and a whole lot of other things on my laptop and here I am again. Joined up with discord first before trying to create an account to get comfortable... and I'm glad I did; thank you Ame for liking Ib too 😄

In any case... early twenties, male, blah, blah, blah, nursing, blah, blah, blah, should be finishing homework right now, blah, lazy and gets sidetracked easily, ok done with some of the real life stuff. Honestly, just a pretty simple life right now. Other than that, I do enjoy a plethora of video games and I don't seem to have a genre that I really hate. I guess you could say I'm the universal receiver, AB, when it comes to games; ditto goes for reborn which kicked my ass into tomorrow. I still remember the multiple times Julia kicked my ass early on and I had to utilize Frogadier to Lick her team to oblivion. In any case, I'm here because I enjoy pokemon, as well as the story and the difficulty increase in Reborn.

Sure, some parts I find trite or just dislike, but above all, I still see this as a solid game I would play through again (which I am considering I messed up on a certain decision in the game, ffffffffffuuuuuuuuu-).

Other than that, I enjoy writing, though it's more on the roleplayer side of things rather than trying to get out a book. There's always something enjoyable about creating things with other people, though then again, I sometimes succumb to being lazy there and don't churn out posts for at least a month... it can get that bad, yeah. Regardless, I guess another main draw that got me here was the Team Showcase and some of the stories I saw there. One of the newer ones I saw, Tradition and Status, is an enjoyable read so far and gives me some hope for looking over into the past.

Speaking of, I should probably get back to work on another post I've been putting off on another forum... meh, later.

Regaaaaardless... someone should change the subforum for The Mod Market to 7th Street... I feel it would make so much sense, but regardless, hope to enjoy my stay here and not randomly drop off the face of the Earth or die inside some painters world! That would be tragic.
