  1. Growlithe will give you the upper hand; if you train it one more level to 34, it will learn Flamethrower and, if it has decent Special Attack and Speed IVs, it could knock out Illumise in one hit which will prevent it from setting up Rain Dance and make the battle much easier.

Grimer is also another decent option to use, since it should have Sludge Wave to inflict Poison onto Shelly's Pokemon; pairing it up with Driftblim's Hex can deal major damage to her Pokemon. However, this Driftblim/Grimer tactic depends on whether Shelly's Pokemon become poisoned; its not a bad tactic, but its risky.

Noibat's Air Cutter is super-effective against five of Shelly's Pokemon except Anorith. However, all of Shelly's Pokemon have coverage against Noibat, so it should not be used at the beginning of the battle; instead, it should be used at the end of the battle to clean up Shelly's remaining Pokemon.

Floatzel can be used to knock out Anorith with one Aqua Jet.

But I'll have to train it up to the 20s. Isn't it received at lvl 5?

Unfortunately, yes, but only if you want to use this shortcut to defeat Florinia ASAP. Of course, Koffings and Klinks can be caught at around Levels 15-18 if you don't want to grind unnecessarily for one Gym battle. There is also the option of obtaining Slugma for 800 coins in Onyx Ward.

  3. Although your current team will be much better on later in the game, they lack the firepower to deal with Florinia's Pokemon. Koffing and Klink are ideal Pokemon whose typings will help sponge many moves from Florinia's Pokemon; you can catch Koffing in Obsidia Ward's Alley and Klink can be caught in Obsidia Ward's Underground Railnet.

If you want a shortcut to beat Florinia, capturing a Kricketot and evolving it into a Kricketune which will learn Fury Cutter, will rip apart Florinia's team. Kricketot can be caught in Lower Peridot Ward at an Apartment building near an alleyway.

  4. It's true that the naming convention of Pokemon games isn't limited solely to color, and the names have expanded to objects throughout the years and Generations. However, the naming convention did have the consistency of the objects that the Pokemon games are named after, evoke the feeling or image of a color. I suppose my gripe with the names of the new core games is that they don't evoke any feeling or image of a color; they're literally just objects, which breaks this consistency.

You could say this consistency was broken with Pokemon X and Y, but they evoked some form of color in the form of life and destruction. Pokemon Sun and Moon evoke colors relating to their respective celestial bodies. The names of the new core games don't follow suit.

I don't dislike the names Pokemon Sword and Shield; I will probably accept the names in the future. Regardless, these new names don't evoke any form of color or emotion, which is why I find them weird and out of place.

  5. Your team choice is nicely balanced. As stated above, Arcanine is a very good choice with its Flash Fire ability since it covers for both Weavile and Ferrothorn. For your 6th slot, you could try out Weezing for early on in the game since its high defense stat eats up Fighting-type moves and covers for Primarina who is weak against Poison-type moves. Most of your team choice has average speed besides Weavile, so later on, you could replace M-Meowstic for Bronzong which can learn Trick Room to make your team faster; Arcanine can learn Extreme Speed and Weavile has many priority moves, so Bronzong's Trick Room won't affect them.

  6. Personally, I nominate...no one, because every user here is an award winner.

But since nominating every user here for every award defeats the purpose of this, I'll nominate:

For The Terra Pierce Award  - @Nyaagisa The Maid

For The Sugarpop Sunbeam Award  - @Candy

For The Auspicious Auth Award - @DreamblitzX

For The Carmen Sandiego Award - @Caz

For the Most Likely to Have a Philosophical Debate With Themselves and The Fern Sevilla Award   -  @ShadeStrider

  7. I haven't exactly encountered many "toxic people" in real life, so I have little experience with this topic and apologize if I sound naive. Based on my experience, I say that you should trust your gut feeling; if you don't feel comfortable with someone based on first impressions, then you shouldn't pursuit any sort of friendship or relationship.

  8. The answer to your secondary question is simple; Goku is the main character and only he is allowed to dye his hair the latest color, thanks to his premium membership called Plot Armour. So yes, you are correct in saying that Ultra Instinct is a lazy excuse to make Goku more powerful.

As for Ultra Instinct ruining DBS, broken power scaling took care of that long before Ultra Instinct showed up.

  9. Meltan. I don't mind Melmetal since its swole design is growing on me, but I prefer if Meltan was a Pokemon that didn't evolve.

As for another Pokemon that I didn't want to evolve that comes to mind this very moment...Pikachu, because, honestly, its such a powerhouse popularity wise that it eclipses its evolved form.

  10. When it comes to studies, I don't believe changing to a completely different degree or field of study is an ideal method as that would demand more time and money. I assume you are very far into your course, so changing degrees isn't viable. I'm also studying a degree that deals with computers and while there were aspects of it I didn't enjoy to begin with, I managed to find enjoyment in one of the programming languages along the way and managed to become comfortable with it. From my experience, my advise would be to first see the parts of the degree you find easy or are comfortable with and start from there; finding the part of the degree you are comfortable with will give you direction to move forward.

In regards to trying something new, a nice change of pace would be going out for a walk for about 30 minutes to an hour while listening to music on your phone/Ipod; it should help detox your mind from stress and could give you inspiration or motivation to try something new. Not only would it be healthy, but it will also give you a daily routine to abide by.

I wish you the best of luck in finding something you like in your degree or something new to enjoy.

  11. I know this is somewhat late (due to having no Internet for a week), but I wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed episode 18 and had fun solving the puzzles.

Thank you Amethyst and the rest of the Reborn team for your hard work and dedication in crafting this great game. Enjoy your break and take as long as you need; there is no need to rush boarding the last train.

How long does it usually take to fix one bug ?

With my knowledge when it comes to programming, it all depends on the skill of the programmer and the type of bug/error. Bugs and errors fall into three categories: syntax errors, run-time errors and logic errors. Syntax errors are simple, small spelling errors, Run-time errors occur during execution and logic errors are flaws in a program's code and are difficult to find.

When it comes to the reborn team...with their immense skill in crafting Reborn throughout the years, I assume fixing an average bug might be flicking a flea away or telling a dog to go bark outside. In this case of boom in bugs...they might have accidentally hit a beehive and caused the little buggers to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. That's assuming the beehive isn't actually a hornet's nest...

    Lin is officially Aizen confirmed.

Lin is Aizen? I was always under the impression she was Sephiroth cosplaying as Thanos all along?

  14. As most have said, Luna. In my first playthrough, Blaziken sweeped her team and in my third playthrough, Scrafty, Escavalier and Swampert had an advantage against all her Pokemon; the only Pokemon that took longer to defeat was her Umbreon.

Some of Reborn's Gym Leaders will be less of a struggle to defeat depending on the team of Pokemon one is using (unless you are using a team full of counters then it will probably be easy). In reality, no Gym Leader in Reborn is easy to defeat; one way or another there is a high probability of a Pokemon on their teams that will take you by surprise.

  15. Favorite Pokemon Generation to Least Favorite:

    1) Generation 5 (Unova)

    2) Generation 1 (Kanto)
    3) Generation 4 (Sinnoh)

    4) Generation 3 (Hoenn)

    5) Generation 2 (Johto)

    6) Generation 7 (Alola)

    7) Generation 6 (Kalos)

TFW Thanos used almost that exact quote lmfao

Most of this quote was used in the official trailer while Thanos' full dialogue on it is at the beginning of Infinity War. I simply prefer this version since its mostly short but the full one works just as well. Now for some more spoilers:

  17. The Pokemon team I'm taking...depends on which save file I'm using. My first one:

    Blaziken

    Ampharos

    Klinklang

    Gastrodon

    Pigeot

(I must still decide on a sixth Pokemon; it will probably help balance out my other Pokemon or serve to counter the remaining Gym Leaders or it could be a rotating slot).

My first team came to be due to it being the first time I played Pokemon Reborn and was based on getting through the Gym Leaders with some guarantee that I could win (although it was still a struggle).

As for my third file; the Pokemon Team I'll be using throughout:

    Swampert

    Scrafty

    Flygon

    Magnezone

    Escavalier

    Bronzong

This is the team I'm most comfortable using (basically my bread and butter) and I prefer this team because many of my favorite Pokemon are on it; the only Pokemon I'm neutral with is Bronzong. I tolerate it because it has some usefulness with its Trick Room. Otherwise if it doesn't offer much help, I'll rotate it out with another Pokemon. Overall, I struggled the least against the Reborn Leaders with this team.

@porra33 You have a fine team going; I suggest picking Pokemon that have some bulky defense since most of your team is offensive/speed based to round it out such as Florges (for Special Defense), Aggron (for Defense) and as for typing, Pelipper. I would also use a Gastrodon, which will help against the remaining two Gym Leaders (mainly against Hardy). Otherwise, as everyone else has said, rotating Pokemon in and out works just as well.

  18. Personally, I would be less concerned about the release and more worried about surviving the savage hand of Saphira. Also...spoiler alert...
