Fairy, eh? Will definitely be an insane challenge that I am looking forward to seeing how you surpass it!
Although I still am waiting for someone to do a rock monotype -
Just now, Jess said:
The only time I found it easy to defeat her Garchomp was in my second, the shiny playthrough, when I destroyed it with an avalanche by my Avalugg. Contrary leaf storm serperior is a bit OP vs a ground gym leader
Yeahhh. For my main playthrough, I think I lucked out. Because that was my first (Technically second) playthrough of the game, and I just picked Snivy unknowing that he could have his hidden ability XD.

Just now, Jess said:
True... But worst annoyance for me is Terra's stupid Garchomp in her stupid field... All her team is nothing, but I just hate Garchomp in general. And her field makes it more awful than it naturally is (to me at least). Rant over, lol.
I've never struggled with her Garchomp. Nevertheless Terra herself. In my main playthrough of the game, I swept her with a Contrary Serperior. So I've never struggled with her.
-
Just now, Jess said:
Mine too... Mostly because Terra is retarded and causes me to lose brain cells every time she speaks.
Ehh, I mainly hate it because of the hail and Blake. I can deal with Terra, but there's just so many other annoyances there.
-
Just now, Jess said:
I see, I didn't wanna annoy you, just thought it would be a pity if you missed it and went post Agate city!
No worries! You weren't annoying me. I'm just training an Alakazam in the background, so no big deal. And yeah, I'll make sure to get everything Before Agate Circus/City (My least favorite part of the game)
-
Just now, Jess said:
Don't worry, Delphox can surely handle it
Yep (At current point I am at he is level 61) But I gotta do other things first. Getting the Smoochum isn't my top priority, need to train up a few pokemon first.
-
1 minute ago, Jess said:
Awwwwwwww that is a pity.
Oh, by the way, did you get the Smoochum? In the cave in front of Shade's Gym, go deep, find another cave in it (inception-like) and you can get a Smoochum this way. It learns Perish Song level 45 I think. Could help you immensely!
Didn't get it yet, I plan to get every psychic type available. But I waited as I'm pretty sure the beartic guarding it was like level 57 I think. And when it was accessible I was no where near that level.

It's a pity Psychic types aren't that bulky... And they don't have any Intimidate mons either. My thought to stall it out would be to train an Exeggutor fully in HP and Defense and wait for a rainy day and Leech Seed it. It would probably be able to survive one hit and you'd be able to Lemonade/Ultra Pot it up every turn.
I couldn't even get an Exeggutor at that point either. I was stupid and sold the only leaf stone I had. Because I actually thought "I'm just going to sell the elemental stones that I don't need, which is almost all of them" Then about another couple of hours gameplay later Exeggcute shows up.

My question is, which member of your team managed to take a hit from Garchomp! Or you just PP stalled him from the very beginning till it Struggled?
Edit: I would've bred Destiny Bond on a Ralts from Koffing/Cofagrigus and given it a Focus Sash or a Quick Claw (found from wild Meowths I think) if you don't want to waste your Focus Sash this way. Counter Focus Sash Medicham could've also worked.
At first I gave Zeeze (Hypno) a focus sash to poison the garchomp. And then the stall started. I didn't know he had THREE full restores at first, so when he used one, I just continued to stall with the Cotton Candy. If I remember correctly, no one survived him normally (If anyone did survive, it would be Shimmer aka Musharna)

How did you manage to beat the Garchomp?
A lot of Cotton Candy Aka Revives. It was... Tedious to say the least.

Chapter 7:
As to a request, this'll be done at the beginning of each chapter, so you know who's who.
Myst Atiel Pearl Putty Shimmer Zeeze
We start off by realizing that our friend hasn't made it here yet.
Like good friends doSo we head to the only place he might've gotten stuck at: Azurine Island. As soon as we get there, we get a new Psychic pokemon!SpoilerIt's an Exeggcute named Elola... If my past self wasn't so lazy I'd have a photo of it, but alas, so there's just the information. Here's a picture of a funny moment during the Kiki fight to make up for it:
Elola and Zenite (Exeggcute and Meditite respectively) will be trained up later. After a fair amount of exploring the island, we find a shack that of course must be where Cain is! We encounter Aster and Eclipse
The Jessie and James of RebornVS ASTER-ECLIPSE
SpoilerLeading with Atiel and Pearl, I just focus the solrock and kill it on the same turn Pearl goes down (Thanks, Atiel!) I send out Myst. Rhydon deals a ton of damage to Myst and Atiel, but both of them focusing him kills him. Magmar comes in. Myst's turn is used to heal Atiel, Atiel psychics Magmar, Mysts turn again is used to heal, and he goes down. Atiel then finishes magmar off. A Milotic and Shimmer comes out, and twp Psychics aim at Milotic, killing it. Atiel dies to a burn the magmar gave him a few turns ago. Electabuzz comes in, gets faked out, and gets a psychic to the face. he lives, but dies next turn to another psychic. Lunatone dies in a couple of psychics.
We manage to get through a secret entrance and find three things: Cain, Taka, and a Camerupt. We engage one of them (And no Cain, it's not you., and no, I don't mean marry them)
VS
CAMERUPTTAKASpoilerI lead with Myst, one shotting the klefki, but not before spikes go up. Myst brings gligar into red health, it U-turns into Cradily, and I get a crit on Cradily. But Myst dies to an ancient power. Putty uses fake out... He ultra potions. Kills putty due to confusion luck, and Atiel comes in, killing the cradily with... A ton of Psychics. Atiel goes down to the gligar acrobatics (He was in red health) Pearl comes in, kills gligar with a Power gem. THE DEMON HAS ARRIVED. He heat waves, bring me to 67 health, then I power gem, triggering sitrust berry. Chatter is used next turn, Chatot is left in red health from another power gem. Pearl goes down, and Zeeze comes in, winning us the battle with Psybeam.
Camerupt can erupt, killing everyone on the island, other stuff, we fight Solaris
VS SOLARIS
SpoilerI can't tell you, how much money I had to spend to get enough Cotton Candy to stall this Garchomp. I swore to myself that I wouldn't lose to Solaris this run, I stayed true to that promise.
Cal kills Kiki's medicham, Solaris/Garchomp kills kiki, after Kiki dies, Cal realizes his mistake, we get to the main Reborn again, we fight Cain to FINALLY get into Byxbysion wasteland. (We also believe Cal in him saying that stuff about Kiki, I still don't get why he felt the need to destroy the pulse if it was already sabotaged, but I've always believed him)
VS CAIN
SpoilerWe spam psychic, we win.
We go through a long trek through the Byxbysion wasteland, where, while trying to get inkay, we get a shiny pineco... Then an Inkay.
(This took thirty minutes... THIRTY GODDAMN MINUTES, FOR AN INKAY. I also named the Shiny pineco "Inkay...") We eventually reach the house/gym and find Fern, and meet hardy!
SpoilerHARDY REPRESENTING THE #FERNISANASSHOLE CLUB!
We fight Fern
VS FERN
SpoilerFerrothorn gets one shot by a flamethrower from Myst. I stay in on Krokorok and end up one shotting it with a flamethrower XD. Scyther comes in, gets one shot by flamethrower. Roserade survives with a sliver of health, but dies next turn despite Fern healing with Ice cream. Same thing happens to Serperior. Myst swept him.
Now we fight Aya
VS AYA
SpoilerI lead with Atiel and Myst, she leads with Nidoqueen and Tentacruel. Tenta gets one shot by a psyshock from Myst, Nido crunches Atiel, he lives with a bit more than half health remaining. Nido gets one shot by Atiels psychic. Drapion and Dragalge come in. Myst flamethrowers Drapion and he lives with about a quarter health. Drapion night slashes Atiel, killing him. Myst takes a dragon pulse from Dragalge with less than half remaining. I send out Pearl. Pearl gets sent out. Myst kills drapion with another flamethrower, Pearl does a bit of damage to Dragalge with psybeam, and Dragalge kills Myst with Hydro pump. Gengar comes in, Gengar sludge bombs pearl, dealing 50% health. Pearl psybeams the gengar, killing it. Dragalge dragon pulses pearl, killing him. Shimmer deals ALMOST enough to kill Dragalge. Putty comes in, and fakes out the Venusaur. Dragalge gets an Ultra potion used on her. Dragalge is put into about half health by a psychic from shimmer. Putty dies to a joint attack from Venu and Dragalge. But both Shimmer and Putty got attacks off on Dragalge. Killing her. Zeeze comes in, and we win by both Shimmer and Zeeze attacking Venusaur.
That was surprisingly difficult.
Anyway, thanks for reading! The team was the same as in the beginning, so I will not bother with doing the team again!
Quick little message, as always
SpoilerThis was pretty battle heavy, I know. The main reason for this message however, is the fact that these posts may start slowing down. As I am reaching one of the longest and most tedious points in the game: Agate Circus. So what I may end up doing is splitting some chapters into two or three, as the next few chapters are quite long. I'll figure it out.
-
- On rainy days, in the coral ward (Accessible just after the slums) there should be a Lotad on the pier. This will cover that nasty rock weakness, as well as taking care of fire, and any ground types.
- On sunny days, in northern peridot (Near the big gate that you can't enter) There's a Budew (In case the Lotad isn't appealing)
- It wouldn't kill to get some bulk, so a grimer might be useful (Fishing in the bad water)
- In onyx ward there is a casino, for 1000, 3000, and 5000 coins respectively, there is a: Slugma, Nidoran M, and a Shinx. (The coin case can be found in the gym) the Nidoran and Shinx could be very valuable.
Anyway, some of those pokemon could definitely help you. However as a last recommendation, it may be wise to pick up a psychic type pokemon, doesn't really matter which, there are a couple you can grab at this point.

LOL, I just clicked to see your answer and lost my entire update on my bug monotype. More specifically the Arceus fight. Gotta rewrite it now, fuck my luck! xD
XD, sorry!

Don't upload them, just copy and paste the gif sprites. That's how i've been doing it and no frame gets attached.
Edit: Get them from here http://www.pokestadium.com/tools/sprites
Oh, awesome! Thanks!

I'd say this is perfect
Yeah, It's just going to take a little bit for me to figure out how to remove the damn border XD

I'm enjoying this so far, but could you maybe insert the pokemon you're using so that I know which name belongs to which pokemon? I can't remember which one is which unfortunately and I don't want to have to scroll up everytime I see a name.
If it's too much trouble, forget about it
No trouble at all! I've been wanting to do this, I've just had trouble figuring something out.
SpoilerI want to put gifs in a spoiler of all pokemon used, with their names being under the gif. But I don't feel comfortable doing it yet, as that border around what was supposed to be a transparent background gif... Is very annoying.
-
Good luck with this run! Seems like a challenge (Not to mention an eater of free time)
-
Based on where I assume you are, you must wait until you get to the later part of the railnet. (I believe it only shows up past the rock smash area, or maybe even the strength area) But yeah, at your current part (At least where I assume you are) you won't be finding one.

Chapter 6:
The chapter starts with... (Or at least my notes do) with Victoria telling us about Aya, and he Azurine lake/Island. Which is where we need to go to fight the fighting gym leader, Kiki.
That totally won't die before we get the badgeWe reach Cain and he flees us to gett to the Island. (I assume my notes are probably missing a Fern and Cain battle. Unless those were Chapter 5, in which case, they are still gone. I'll just give a summary how I assume those battles went: Boring, one shot pretty much everything. We can't get to island where we need to be, but very fortunately, Amaria runs into us at the best time ever!... And now we are going to the factory that we didn't destroy earlier in the adventure... Great. We enter via the ice staircase of freedomTM And Amaria makes us a path to get through... where we get dropped into a cage by Solaris... Swell. Puzzle, battles, Puzzle. We almost get killed by a Garchomp, Battle the imposter
VS ZEL
SpoilerPutty just spams psybeams and Psyshocks until his lead pokemon goes down (Leafeon I think?) Ultra potion used on glaceon, currently just above yellow health. Myst finishes the job with a flamethrower. Umbreon dies in four flamethrowers (Because last ultra potion was used.) Espeon gets one shot by a Critical Flamethrower. We switch to Atiel on the Muk coming in. Muk - Sludge wave, Atiel Psychics leaving muk just above yellow health. Atiel dies before he can do a second one. But Pearl finishes the job with two psywaves.
Fairly easy, thanks Myst! After the fight, Solaris gives Amaria a sweet parting gift... Of his Tyranitar attacking her with a Superpower... Ouch. But this was all worth it (Not the Tyranitar attack) as Amaria lets us use her boat to get to Apophyll! Once we get there, we go through a few trainers and get a meditite! Which will most likely never be used! To be able to battle Kiki, we must find an Ex-Gym leader named Cal ontop of the Volcano. We find and battle him.
VS CAL
SpoilerPearl comes in and kills infernape in 3 Psybeams (Ultra potion used) Pearls at about half health. Charizard comes in and dies to two Power gems (First one brought him into red, ultra potion, than next one killed) Delphox comes in and kills Pearl, Atiel comes in, bring delphox into a little less than half health, Atiel dies after a couple psyshocks. Shimmer finishes off Delphox. Magmorter dies in two psyshocks from Myst, Typhlosion also dies in two Psyshocks. Blaziken gets one shot.
Pretty easy.
We head back down to the Academy and just before we fight Kiki... Victoria tries to stop us... Great.
VS VICTORIA
SpoilerLead with Myst, Scraggy dies to a critical flamethrower. Emboar dies in two psyshocks (An ice cream is used) I switch to shimmer upon heracross. Shimmer Psychics, hera night slashes, Shimmer psychics, she heals, Hera goes down to another two psychics. I switch to Atiel, who is down to 38 health from a knock off (Hariyama) but one shots the Hariyama with a Psychic (That EV training putting in work) Gallade kills Atiel, Zeeze poisons Gallade. Zeeze dies. I call out putty, fake outs. I psychic, Gallade night slashes. I win with another psychic.
And now... Finally... We fight Kiki!
VS KIKI
SpoilerI lead with pearl and psybeam the machamp, does half health. I live a payback with 2 HP! Kiki heals, I psybeam, putting machamp back to where we started. And machamp dies next turn. I go into Myst upon gallade switch in, and end it in two Flamethrowers, second being a crit. toxicroak comes in and suckerp punches, putting me at 25 health, and psyshock one shots the Toxicroak. I switch to Atiel to deal with hitmonlee, hitmonlee fake outs then Hi-Jump-Kicks. I one shot it with Psychic. Lucario kills Atiel (I was using the turn to heal Myst) Lucario gets one shot by a flamethrower. Medicham dies in three flamethrowers (Ultra potion used + Berry burned)
That battle went as Expected. Only thing that could be decribed as a challenge, was the Gallade. This Chapter ends with Kiki collapsing, with us not knowing why! (At least as of yet)
SpoilerIf I seemed a bit annoyed/mad during this chapter in any way. Sorry, my computer was acting up with writing this, like putting words into previous parts of the section, deleting paragraphs when I meant to delete a word. Ect. I know why it's doing this, it's just a glitch with the mousepad right now. I'll be restarting my computer after I click submit. So yeah...
Thanks for reading, we will be returning in Chapter 7, where we do more Volcano stuff, and fight Aya!

Seriously, this butterfly is looking even more menacing since the day it solo'ed Noel.BTW, I read how you dealt with Shade in your psychic mono, also great job!
Thanks!

Butterfly's will kill us all. Butterfly's will lay waste to the land. Great job! I was curious how you would deal with that steelix!

Yes, I think that helped you a lot. Isn't the boost 1.5? So yeah, that makes a world of difference. Well done once again
Thanks and yeah, it's 1.5x. But there's also the fact that everyone was already weak to ghost, making it a 2.5 boost to ghost attacks.
-
4 hours ago, HongaarseBeer said:
Well done, how many tries did Shade take you? I can imagine it was quite a fight
I actually won on my second try! I was super shocked by this, but I feel I mainly won because Rotom used discharge, which removed the darkness.
-
Chapter 5...?:
I feared this would happen... So... I may or may not have lost most of chapter 5. What do I mean by most? Well, I still have the fight against Shade, because I have it recorded. Let me explain how I lost it: As I play through each chapter, I write down notes about the battles (Unless they are uninteresting, in which case I don't bother writing notes) important story things, our choices, and new team members. I do this all in notepad, because it's easy to have to minimized to the side while playing. So, when I finish a chapter, I save the game, save the notepad, and create a new notepad for the next chapter... But I must've forgotten to save chapter 5, because it's blank.
SpoilerAs you can see, there is nothing in my chapter 5 notes... Don't worry, I've already checked. Chapters 6, 7, and 8 are all still there. Intact and everything. I still have images I took and the Shade fight, so I will still share those.
SpoilerMyst Evolved
Shimmer Evolved.
We also caught the Lunatone that was taunting us earlier.
So... How about the Shade fight, then?
VS SHADE
SpoilerI lead with Atiel, he leads with Gengar. He uses shadow claw, which does about 70% of my health, and Atiel one shots him with a psychic. Upon Banette coming in, I switch to Zeeze, who deals about 50% damage until she dies. I go into Myst who kills him in a couple of psyshocks (Both of his Ultra Potions used) Rotom comes in and I switch to Pearl, Pearl psybeams, dealing about a third, and he discharges, getting rid of his ghost bonuses (This misplay is mostly why I won this battle) Pearl psybeams, dealing another third, he shadow balls, bringing Pearl into critical health. I use pearls last turn to heal up Atiel, he then goes down. Atiel comes in, takes about half health, and kills Rotom. Doublade comes in, gets one shotted by Myst who just came in. Trevenant also gets one shotted by Mystical Fire. Chandelur comes in, I switch to shimmer. He energy balls and I yawn. Shadow ball kills shimmer, but Chandelure falls asleep. Atiel comes in, uses charge beam, getting Sp.Atk boost. This happens again, chandelure has his sitrus berry consumed, who then wakes up, and kills Atiel. Putty comes in and psyshocks Chandelure, he barely lives. Myst comes in, I use a max revive I dug up from stones a bit ago to revive Pearl, he lives a shadow ball with 6 HP, but the next turn Myst disobeys me. Doing nothing (He was level 41) Pearl comes in and we win with a power gem.
So, yeah. I feel really bad about losing this chapter, to be fair though, not much was missed. At least it wasn't a big chapter, like chapter 5 or 6. Besides, I salvaged the Shade fight, thanks to me recording it. I can imagine a few people are happy I at least got the Shade fight. Anyway, thanks for reading, the next chapter should be up in a few days! (Friday or Saturday most likely)
Zell's Mono-Psychic Run of Reborn! (Completed)
in Team Showcase
Posted
Thanks and nice! Also there are no psychic types at that point that could have sturdy, pretty sure there isn't even a psychic type with sturdy at all. So that was off the table for me. I'll be looking forward to your Mono-Ground run! I'm planning on doing a second one after psychic, and it'll be quite shocking (Hint hint, wink wink)
