  1. This isn't gonna happen in the main game, partially because it would make balancing the game really hard if everything was about even. I've seen some fan games that have tried to make everything viable and they just get really tedious as every battle stretches out forever as everything is too good. Also changing around pokemon too much would make it really untrue to the original games which isn't the intention and by having all pokemon be equally good it would make the battles really bland. The way it is currently you can use weaker pokemon to give yourself a challenge or stronger ones if you aren't the most confident battler.

    That being said, once the game is completed it will be fully open to user mods and editing pokemon stats is really quite easy, so if you're still around when its done you could implement this yourself and have fun with it.

    But... don't things being more even be the definition of balance ?

    The general idea of the changes is that if you like some pokemon, you can use it without it being dead weight (a waste of space) in your team.

    I kinda disagree on a balanced game making battles bland, i think lack of balance makes them bland as they decrease versatility, reduces the amount of movesets used and makes most outcomes incredibly predictable.

    You can still use "weaker pokemon" by just not evolving them.

  2. I suppose the best way to put it is that not all Pokemon are supposed to be good or even "viable".

    I get what you are saying and i even thought of that myself, i guess the strength of the buffs can be so not all pokes are equally strong, but that if you want to use, lets say Beautifly because it looks cute and you like it, it won't just be dead weight.

    Also so if multiplayer becomes available, you won't be seeing just the same pokes over and over.

  3. Game Freak buffed or nerfed stats, added moves or abilities because they were implementing new content, mons and gameplay features with each new generation. They had to do it in order for the older mons to keep up and still have a role in the metagame.

    The thing is, from what I've seen Reborn isn't trying to do that. Reborn doesn't create new mechanics or fakemons, so there's no need to add non canon buffs or nerfs and potentially break the game's balance.

    Besides, nerfing pseudos or legendaries just to be able to use them earlier would cheapen the satisfaction of acquiring said pseudos and legendaries imo. I'd rather wait until e19 to finally be able to use the best mons at their full power. I trust Ame and the team to give us access to them in due time, so the game remains as balanced as possible.

    Edit: my statement about Reborn not creating new mechanics isn't completely true, because there are the Field Effects. But I think the point still stands.

    Im talking more whats mentioned on the list, mostly buffing weaker pokemon (Farfetch'd, etc.) and nerfing 600 stat dragons a bit so they'll fulfill their roles without being OP, basically adding diversity and not ending up with everyone having similar teams.

    Almost 2 weeks i think :P, i checked stats, moves and abilities to polish each pokemon's identity.

    I get the thing about progress, but even pokemon that become obtainable at the same time (lets say Froslass & Delibird or Blaziken and Meganium) show a no-brainer about which to choose, even leading to choose the one you "like less" just because it is extremely better.

  4. I know OP pokemon were made unobtainable, but did the developers consider at some point changing pokemon stats, moves, abilities to "buff" weaker pokemon and/or nerf stronger ones to make every pokemon "usable"?

  5. Yes, I was considering changing some Pokémon's evolution methods! I kinda did that with Shuppet, but it was just to make the Normal type more flavorful. I had something in mind for Butterfree and Beedrill, but since I didn't plan anything specific I didn't talk about it. I've added my ideas for them to the list, if you're interested! (Delibird's also there, I thought that it'd be quite interesting as a support Pokémon and Fighting-type check for Monoice teams.)

    Swapping Venomoth's Bug type makes even less sense, in my opinion. I think that it's more flavorful as it currently is, since both of its types fit perfectly. Besides, Bug/Psychic is a downgrade defensively. I really hope that we get a Poison/Psychic type some day, though, it just sounds cool.

    Also, about Serperior, I don't really know what to do with it. With Contrary, it's one of the strongest starters (after it gets Leaf Storm, that is). Without it, though, it's at the bottom of the barrel since even Meganium has better offenses. Abilities can't stack and changing Leaf Storm's effect would have a far bigger effect than just nerfing Serperior, so these are not viable choices. Removing Leaf Storm from its moveset would render Contrary completely useless, especially since its semi-signature move, Coil, just doesn't work with it, and changing its ability to Regenerator would make it a bad Tangrowth. I considered making it learn Leaf Storm later and making it more of a physical attacker until it can start abusing Contrary, since its physical moveset is awesome, but I can't play around too much with its stats since it's a starter, so it'd be stuck with base 75 Attack. I think that it might be better to watch how it adapts to the game, since its niche is incredibly unique.

    Banette: I think your idea of using the Doll to evolve it is really neat, but i don't know if it fits with the Normal type, the changes i thought for it are basically transform it into a physical Gengar.

    Blaziken: I think Moxie will still make it broken, so.. i dk about it, maybe Defiant or Justified?

    Serperior : Either Regenerator, Wonder Skin, Shed Skin or Unaware would fit its style i think.

  6. I like these buffs! Pokémon like Luvdisc and Magcargo need all the help they can get and I totally missed things that make perfect sense, like giving Ninetales Morning Sun. I gave the Koffing line the Fire type because their gases are very flammable, which is why they have the whole explosion theme. Wigglytuff got Fur Coat since most of its Pokédex entries mention its fur, and I'm contemplating replacing it with Fluffy once Gen 7 gets released. Also, while it's nice that most of your buffs are small and sensible, some of them are too small, like the +5 Speed boost on Donphan.

    I don't think Venomoth works as a Bug/Psychic type, since learning Psychic moves is kind of a butterfly thing in Pokémon and it's all about venomous scales, and, while Serperior can be quite game-breaking with Contrary Leaf Storm, without it it's probably one of the worst starters, so I don't know what to do about it.

    By the way, was the Delibird buff supposed to be +25 HP or is it actually +205 HP? It's a junk rare Pokémon, so it does need very large buffs. Giving it Chansey's HP stat seems a bit... radical, though.

    About Delibird, it was the way of making it less bad without breaking it's identity, i thought of 2 changed for it:

    The said buffs and making it unable to learn any other move but "Present", so it would be kinda usable but still a sort of "joke" pokemon.

    Or just adjusting it's HP, and making it a Rain Dance/Hail /Substitute /Spikes / (Etc) setter, with swift swim, snow cloak or healer.

    So support or normal combat pokemon is what i thought.

    I see the point about Blissey HP, but she also has a extremely good movepool and is more focused into Sp.Def.

    I agree that some buffs might be too subtle, i focused bigger buffs in the least used (weaker) pokemon.

    Were you thinking about changing the level in which pokemon evolve?, i think buffs to pokemon like Butterfree could be bigger if the evolved latter, unless you want to keep them slightly weaker to give a reason to change pokemon later on (besides personal prefference)

    Venomoth already does learn psychic moves though, it could be made into Poison/Psychic, and Butterfree could additionally learn Draining Kiss and/or Moonblast, maybe with Cute Charm as an ability.

    About Serperior, some options could be:

    Leaf Storm only changing 1 stage (instead of 2)

    Give Serperior "Defeatist" but buff it's hp.

    Change Contrary with Regenerator (which is also a neat ability)

    Remove Leaf Storm from its set and boost its speed (so it need less speed EVs)

    EDIT: while doing Gen3 i was looking at some stats and changed Dragonite to -30 Atk, -20 Sp.Atk.

  7. Is the Omanyte puzzle "the four western warriors, the best of or kind from top to bottom" functional ? if so solution pls.

    Also, i found a gamebreaking bug, at the beginning, if you find the bomb before being asked to, every door locks, forcing you to restart the game.

  9. I noticed that after defeating Angie, you can either go to the entrance or take the portal, both leading to different dialogues, but every time i decide to go back to the entrance, the game freezes after Kreeis leaves (i did release him before).

    Also, after defeating Angie, the npcs at the TM Shop won't talk to me (i can go in, but the frozen overlay is still over the shop)
