The "starter quest" in question can be accessed after completing the restoration project in the Grand Hall. Go downstairs and you can find someone who wants eggs of every starter up to gen 7. I forget at which milestone you get Garchompite, but the final reward is the Shadow Ball TM so it's well worth doing the whole quest regardless.

As for a comprehensive guide to Mega Stones/Z Crystals, I'm not aware of such a thing, but the E18 item guide is the closest thing to that. You can Ctrl+F stones you're missing to avoid having to browse every item pickup listed there. If you don't get any results, chances are it's not in the game yet (e.g. Salamencite, Kommonium Z).

To be more specific, you get Garchompite at the very end of the Starter Egg sidequest, alongside the Shadow Ball TM.

  2. Hm. Will there be a way for players to gain any missing cells that they might have missed in East Gearen before the renovation? Furthermore, will there eventually be a late-game item that reveals the locations of missed Zygarde cells? Because I would imagine that it would get infuriating when someone ends up getting all but 1-2 cells and has to scour everywhere for the ones that were missed.

  3. If a Pokemon is holding an Adrenaline Orb and they block the intimidate attack drop via an ability like Clear Body, the Adrenaline Orb does not trigger. According to Bulbapedia, the Adrenaline Orb should trigger even if the attack drop is blocked by Clear Body etc.

Replication of this bug is simple: Have a Metagross with Clear Body hold an Adrenaline Orb and use it against a Mon with Intimidate.

    Issue persists in version 18.4.

According to Zumi on the dev team Q&A the end of Act 2 will be on the V14, so we are still in Act 2.

Okay, I admit I was not expecting that. So either Act 3 will be really short, or v15 and v16 will be very lengthy in order to stretch out the content to a reasonable length. Guess we'll see. Either way, thanks for finding and showing me the official answer to this.

  5. First of all, I would like to preface this with two things. First of all, I am not going to bother with spoilering story moments or anything, so proceed at your own risk. Furthermore, it has been a bit of a while since I last played the game proper, so I might misremember or forget a few details.

So, from what I could gather from previous conversations/gatherings, Rejuvenation's plot has been aimed to have a three-act structure, each one having a main unifying link connecting it. The first act's main act has been, from my understanding, Team Xen and their hunt for Melia. Sure, there were other storylines and plotlines that happen during this time, but the main one has basically been Team Xen and Melia. The climax and the end of Act 1 is pretty noticeable and clear: The final battle vs Zetta and Geara at Valor Mountain ends with a total defeat of Team Xen, with Zetta permanently eliminated from the team and Geara getting stuck in teleport hell, requiring a very long reconstruction process. The moment is sufficiently dramatic and, more importantly, it actually takes Team Xen out of the focus of the story. Oh sure, they are still there, just mostly relegated to sidequests, especially in the restored East Gearen.

After that we have a brief interlude while we go and battle Amber. I consider this moment as not part of act 1, but also not part of act 2, as it has little bearing on the overall story and is just a moment for the player and PC character to essentially unwind from everything that just happened. In fact, I am willing to go as far as to say that Act 2 doesn't actually start until we re-enter Valor Mountain with Venam in search of Melia.

Act 2, to the best of my knowledge, seems to have the theme of, essentially, "Past and Present", the relation of the region before and after the cataclysmic Storm-9, emphasized with the numerous journeys to the past that we have. We even get a chance to see how screwed up the present day could have been had events in the past gone differently. But that's neither here nor there. This, for me brings up my main point of concern: When does Act 2 actually end? Has it actually ended? Because, I will be honest, I am having a bit of a hard time determining the exact moment that Act 2 ends.

To that end, I thought about it and, if it did happen, there are two moments in the story that stand out to me as points where Act 2 could have ended, naturally at mutual exclusivity: The defeat of the Angel of Death and the battle at the top of Eclysia Pyramid against Madame X and the two hoverboarders. The first moment stands out to me because it marks the point where we finish time traveling, as the moment comes at the end of our (so far) final journey to the past. Furthermore, the Angel of Death has been, for all intents and purposes, the main antagonist of Act 2. Sure, we have Flora and Bladestar, but they don't really come into play all that much until Chapter 12 which is also their final chapter. So, defeating the Angel of Death not only gives us tangible effects by essentially landing a major blow against Theolia, but it also (Again, for now) marks the end of the traveling. However, it still feels like a bit of a clunky moment for the act to end: First of all, assuming that is the ending, then we have a fairly long transitionary period from Act 2 to Act 3 and what is the moment that can be counted as the start of Act 3 then? Most likely the destruction of the Grand Dream Tower by Bladestar.

The second moment that, to me, stands out as a potential ending to Act 2 is, of course, the battle at the top of Eclysia Pyramid. It has the climactic feeling (Action-packed sequences, comes right after a battle against a major character, though I don't really consider said character(s) as particularly major in the overall nature of Act 2, even the setting is similar, being at the top of a mountain/pyramid structure at the very top of their part of the region and us being there to save other characters from death. The parallels are more than obvious.). Furthermore, it then has a much more defined and obvious transition/intermission: The raid on Isha's lab. However, for me, the main reason why I hesitate to just outright recognize this as the end of Act 2 is twofold: First, what exactly ends in this battle? By this point, we have already crossed the final remnants of the past that we visited earlier (Xen HQ not counted) and Eclysia felt more an ending for Bladestar and Alice/Allen than for the Past and Present. The second thing is, well, what exactly do we end up finishing at the top of Eclysia, Bladestar excluded? I don't feel like we reach any sort of real finality on the Past and Present theme up on the pyramid, in fact as far as I can see in that regard, the battle vs Lorna would fit that theme more accurately. I guess it would have had more of an impact if there was more to the hoverboarders' prior presence to the story and if we managed to actually deal lasting damage.

Of course, there is also the third possibility that we are still in Act 2. However, I find this to be hard to believe because that would mean Act 3 would have to be either really condensed or the chapters that follow will have to be really stretched out in length, given we are starting to approach the endgame and we are running out of areas to visit in the game.

TL;DR: When does Act 2 actually end?

  6. Completing the Castle Zygara sidequest via letting Karrina do her thing and then not pushing her off doesn't reward you with the Mega Stone. It could be because it might not detect the Mega Stone obtained from Hidden Library 3 if you completed it in V11, but regardless, it means you don't get a reward.

  7. Just now, NickCrash said:

So you are not even considering to use the Crabomination?

...right. I had completely forgot about it. To be honest, I'm not planning on using it. If I need a physical powerhouse alongside the ones I am already using, I can always use Snowslash and Beartic instead, Slush Rush gives them a huge boost in speed.

  8. Well, it's been a while, but we have reached the next episode, E17. While it is still the community release, I believe that it was time to continue this run.

Without further ado, let's get started with my adventure through E17.

    Spoiler

The first thing I did was start exploring everything ever for new items, Pokemon and other assorted goodies. It did not take long for me to start increasing the size of my Ice power.

    6siuT2O.png

First of all, the Mon I was waiting for the most, A-Vulpix. She would replace Frosty the Aurorus from my rotation. He did well, very well in fact, but I feel like it's about time I moved on. As for Shinori here, quite a beauty, isn't she?

    Sktt0B9.png

Sonic the A-Sandshrew here...alas, I never actually used him on the run. My team is already so well established that even with Slush Rush, I couldn't really fit him in. Still, I'm sure he would do amazingly well, given the chance.

More in-depth exploration would lead me to a number of items, both in the desert and out of it: Another Focus Sash, a number of seeds and various memories, new TM's and other assorted goodies. Part of the exploration led me to an extra-special sidequest.

    jDwXKbF.png

Meet Ferocity. Despite having had to sacrifice a few of my non-Ice type Pokemon (And I feel bad about it...) I believe the payout is well worth it. Despite not having used it much, it's in a condition that I can bust it out at any point and it'll perform well.

However, I must say: Who thought putting the Ice Memory at Teknite Cave, near the end of it, was a good idea? Because let me tell you, it is not. Ametrine Mountain would have been a much more appropriate place to put it in. Like, I dunno, same place where you get the Riolu egg? Just saying.

Anyway. After spending a lot of time Grinding Shinori and Ferocity up, it was finally time for the desert. First of all, just so you know, this is a run where I battled Taka in the WTC, therefore this is the Zekrom route. Anyway, I spent a bunch of time just exploring the desert, collecting a number of items, inclusing a number of Magical Seeds, a few TM's, the Ice Memory, a Focus Sash and an assortment of other stuff. Eventually I got to the Scrapyard and after quickly clearing the puzzle out, I got to the small community waiting on the other side, where I happened to run into a certain someone special: Corrin-Rouge. After some words, it was time to fight. He actually put up a good fight (Inferno Overdrive caught me off-guard), but by the end of it, he was down to his "Ace". As in, his level 5 Magikarp. You can imagine how well it went for him.

All in all, the journey felt a little...eh, a little boring and empty, but, well, joke's on me for not seeing two episodes into the future, huh? Whatever. Anyway, eventually I arrived in Fairy Tale land. After fighting through a number of Mons, including a Scizor and a pair of Nidos, I got knocked out by Lin. Then it was time to fight Zekrom after agreeing to trust Titania. Zekrom did not last long, in case you're wondering. Ninetales and Glaceon broke it down quickly.

After Titania ganks Lin, it was time for the battle I was not looking forward to the most.

    Vs Titania

The battle took me a number of attempts in order for me to assemble the pieces of the puzzle. My first attempt and first strategy fell apart on the first try because, apparently, Excadrill OHKO's Mamoswine at +6 Defense with Smart Strike. Slowly, I was able to piece together the puzzle, between losing to Snowslash, Excadrill, Mega Scizor and, once, to Aegislash. Furthermore, Destiny Bond was bugged, preventing me from taking out her Mega Scizor out like that.

So, what was the solution? Magical Seed on Mamoswine to block Snowslash. Using an X Defend on it to force out Excadrill on turn 3, right into an Earthquake after Mist was up on turn 2 (Snowslash used A-Veil at that point.) After that, there was a bit of luck involved. If Titania used an Ultra Potion on Snowslash, I was good. If she had Snowslash Iron Head Mamo, it was as good as an instant reset. After that, she sent out her Mega Scizor. For this, I needed to use Focus Sash Froslass and Magical Seed Lapras to wear it down. It was a painful affair, but, eventually, Mega Scizor fell. Klefki and Empoleon both fell to an EQ from Mamo each.

    Then came Aegislash.

First time, it immediately SD'd, pretty much dooming me. Second time, it went straight on the offensive. It KO'd Mamo and Lapras, but Weavile was able to jump in and knock it out. I had a Focus Sash on it, but I did not need it.

    XL8saA7.png

Just saying, but this image is my Mark of Pride right now. Not even Titania can do more than slow down this train.

With that, Flash Cannon and the 15'th badge were ours.

After this, I went and did the Mega Z-Ring quest. In case you're wondering, I think it's been too overhyped as an item and is not as good as people claim it to be. And no, I'm not using either of Ice's Mega's. Anyway...after that, it was time to deal with Amaria.

Getting to her was a pain because I went off in completely the wrong direction and ended up swimming in circles. Eventually, though, I was able to get to her and, after some chasing, was able to battle her.

    Vs Amaria

I went doubles against her. The battle was...very very easy. Air Balloon Froslass + Air Balloon A-Tales basically destroyed her team. The only two Mons I lost were Froslass to Surf spam and Lapras to a surprise Gigavolt Havoc. But, it was all merely delaying the inevitable victory of mine.

With that, got a TM I can't even use and another badge. And with that, E17 was done. A bit more exploration and a few more TM's later, I am ready to wait for E18 to come out and it's new challenges.

Finally, the main team used and current core team:

I hope you enjoyed this newest update and I hope to see you in E18.

  9. Well, I gave a fair bit of thought and decided "Sure, why not". I was hoping to be able to do it after university, but I don't have that luxury of time, so...alright. Let me quickly get something formed.

    Spoiler

    Pokémon: Glaceon
    Name: Amelia
    Gender: Female
Personality: Gentle, somewhat naive, loyal almost to a fault, emotional.
Moveset: Hail, Water Pulse, Frost Breath, Blizzard, Mirror Coat, Icy Wind, Ice Beam, Ice Fang, Aurora Veil and Sepia Spice.

Held Battle Items: Lum Berry, Icy Rock, NeverMeltIce.
    Font Color:
    Cyan Blue
    Story:
Born to her Vaporeon mother and Jolteon father alongside her brothers and sisters, the first few years of her life were fairly simple, enjoying a simple life with her family and friends in a small village, now long gone. However, one day it all changed when a roving gang of vicious Pokemon appeared and attacked. Amelia was barely able to escape with her life, but her family and everyone else from the village was not so fortunate.

Alone in the world, she went to wandering the wilds. While she would be quick to befriend those willing to help her, she often just wandered off again, exploring the world, evolving to her Glaceon form at some point. By now, she had fully learned to stay self-sufficient and survive in the open wilds. This came to a head when she ended up wandering into a cave system that just so happened to be connected to a bunch of magma caverns that she wandered into by accident. She almost died and the only reason why she survived was because she got rescued by a wandering group of explorers.

The group decided to let her live with them and travel with them, for which she was truly grateful. However, this did not last long as the group soon split apart after a fierce argument broke out over whether or not to help protect a small hamlet. Amelia could not handle the arguing and ran away. Once again on her own, Amelia would continue wandering the region, helping those in need when she is able. She is ready to fight tooth and nail to protect those that give her any sort of kindness now. Yet, deep inside, she longs to join a group of explorers or other folks to go around and helping Pokemon in need, like she was helped from the brink of death.
Details: She is of a gentle nature, yet still prefers sour-tasting food the most.

She is quick to befriend and quick to forgive, but abuse her trust one too many times and she will never forgive or forget.

She tries to avoid fighting if needed, trying to talk or negotiate first. However, she is not afraid to get down and bloody if it comes to it.

Amelia is not afraid to sacrifice her own life to save those of her friends, if it comes to it.

She can be a bit emotionally unstable at times.

I did not know exactly how to write a good backstory in this case. I knew what I wanted to write, but I did not know how to set it in the region, so...I hope this is good. If not...well, I won't really be able to edit much while in university, so...yeah.

If I'm good, though, then my Discord is Anstane #6534
