  1. Plot twist: his game is actually rigged for the AI to suck on certain fights

    Aya was the first time the game really had me, I had to switch two members (and both of new two had defensive setup shit) instead of just one (to be fair it's a Double Battle).

    Talonflame is a cool birb that can yeet through most of Kiki's team with Acrobatics, Persian helped with Shelly, and the first three Gym Leaders aren't too hard with a full team (assuming it's not some gimmick team like 6 first stage Pokemon but you get what I mean)

    I wonder what will he happen to the steelix, pulse abra and the half-skippable arceus

    Steelix can be cheesed with some luck and setup if you have appropiate team, cause it's pretty slow, but Abra is fast and strong, spamming Hyper Beam left and right (also has Dark Pulse if you thought that Ghost-types were smart idea - Normal/Dark is resisted by Tyranitar, Mawile, Lucario, Pawniard, Bisharp, Cobalion, Terrakion, Carbink, Klefki, Diance and Magearna; this early the only two options are Mawile which is a 5% encounter rate and Mystery Egg Pawniard).

  3. Favorite: Out of the ones that are out, probably the Factory/Short-circuit pairing, cause you can easily keep switching between it. There are also few others where I like the aesthetic, though effects not so much.

    Least: Every field that more or less doesn't exist outside of Gym Leader battles.

    I could be misremembering, but I am pretty sure three of them aren't used at all outside of these? The ones for Serra, Radomus and the circus squad, I don't remember seeing them outside of the gym fights.

    Some are slightly better: Fairy Tale, Wasteland and Ashen Beach are used in one place outside of Gym Leaders (the weird forest before Titania, Apophyll Beach and the damn wasteland outside of city).

    There are some others that are hard to find outside of Gym Battles, but you can force them yourself with certain moves, like Corrosive Mist or Glitch.

  4. Just Wonder Guard?

    That sounds like a job for Prankster Perish Song.

    Prolly going to have Soundproof with backup getting around other shit, or worse - a weird chimera/frankenstein of an Ability (think Arceus in Conquest but worse).

    Generally speaking you should always train a few more than just 6 Pokémon. If you train somewhat between 10 and 15 Pokémon in total you should have no problem to reach the end of Ep18's story.

    In case of a nuzlocke though you may want to train up a few more than that since you could lose a Pokémon at any time due to various reasons. And if the only Pokémon you have left to replace the fallen ones are some low level Pokémon you caught somewhere between your first 2 badges you would have to train a lot to get those into shape if you are Level 50+ already.....

    You're talking to a guy who has reached The Gauntlet with minimal team (Greninja, Camerupt, Mightyena, Roserade, Ursaring and Meowstic ; might have switched a differnet Pokemon once or twice into normal team, don't remember, but I remember trying to be minimalistic). This is as painful as it sounds, even with Revive and healing items. Somehow, I managed to persist. Some gyms easier than others (Titania was hell but Amaria was a joke, Roserade killed most of her team no problem).

    The gauntlet though, might be too much to handle without resorting to X items. Three boss battles back to back, with second heal being only partial? No thanks. It's not the hardest thing that has been in RPGs (looking at you Demifiend) but it definitely is up there, especially considering it's mandatory.

    And let's not forget the few things we know about E19: Team Meteor hacking their Pokemon to have max EVs on every stat, or PULSE Mr. Mime which made one of the testers, in their own words, s u f f e r.

    Anyway, if Thamill somehow manages to survive long enough, PULSE Abra will be basically a "pick who lives and who dies" episode. With its stat spreads, it outspeeds 99% of the National Dex (and the few of 1% you can have will probably get outspeed anyway due to level difference; Prankster or other similar stuff might help minimalize losses), and iring a Hyper Beam (or Dark Pulse if you thought Ghost-type can get a free pass) off that monstrous attacking stat is guaranteed to OHKO probably everything bar the most dedicated tanks. Defense-wise, it's less ridiculous Shuckle.

  6. I've been in a normal playthrough and had to change a Pokemon twice so far; for Shelly and for Kiki (in that case, Talonflame sweeped 4/6 of her team with Acrobatics). Currently stuck on Aya, might need to change team again. (Just FYI, it's Venusaur, Talonflame, Swalot, Arcanine, Ampharos and Persian; yeah great variety I know)

    Spoiler

    At least Focus Sash was used up to delete Solaris's Garchomp

    Really? Oh jeez. I personally haven't gotten there yet, so I'm kinda relying on hearsay.

    I don't know how far the Penta Op got, but Shofu quit after glass factory, so if t3 gets past that I will be very impressed indeed. Also, at this rate, he could end up being the first poketuber to cover E19 content, which makes me very excited indeed.

    Shofu actually played the newer ones? I thought he stopped after like WTC.

    so many times where you think he'll lose, and t-tar pulls through with that nuzlocke-luck. I thrill to watch, absolutely. It was honestly hard to watch him not talk to the growlithe, but eh, whatchu gonna do about it now.

    obviously he's going to die at the volcano to Solaris /s

  9. No offense but the 151 Pokemon quiz is easy mode as it shows you the Pokemon you are trying to name. It took me less than 7 minutes to name all 151.

    Psypokes' version is harder as you don't have images and instead you have to rely on memory of that Pokemon existing in the first place, which is something I found challenging.

    (I tried their 'all Pokemon up to G6' version. 40 minutes to name all 721, I named maybe like 600-630 because. If it had images I'd probably name all of them.)

  10. New areas, more job to do.

    Goldenleaf Town has:

    - Morning: Cubone, Wooper, Pineco, Phanpy, Zigzagoon, Linoone, Bunnelby

    Tall grass in Odd Pass has the same Pokemon.

    Wispy Path has:

    - Always: Pidgeotto/Mightyena/Zigzagoon/Linoone/Drifloon/Spewpa

    - Fishing: Basculin

    Wispy Tower is the same.

    Golden Tower now has:

    Thanks~ I appreciate you going out of your way to compile this stuff!

    I guess it is your job now, huh.

    I updated the guide with your info. Thanks again!

    For reference: Shadow Hold is a move. It's like Mean Look, but I think it hits adjacent opponents rather than just one Pokemon? Not that it matters as double battles are rare here. Either way, Shadow Pokemon always have random Ability as I am fairly sure that, except of few differences, they're generated probably like wild Pokemon (hell, in Colosseum you could end up with a Shiny Shadow Pokemon... though you would need to luck out another 1/8192 roll if you wanted it to stay Shiny, as it will roll again for your ID when you snag it. On the other hand, the opposite is also true - it might suddenly turn Shiny after you snag it).

    Also, I think you've overwritten some details on Marianette's Pokemon (like Sitrus Berry on Cinccino or Dry Skin on Heliolisk).

    acerola is a cinnamon roll you have good taste in trial captains

  12. So now's the turn to do my job.

    Amaria's remaining details:
    - Ninetales also has Nasty Plot. Yes, only 3 moves.
    - Ponyta also has Headbutt and Horn Drill (fuck Amaria)
    - Magmar can also also use Confuse Ray and HP Grass (yes she can throw Hidden Power at you)
    - Braixen also carries Attract and Protect.
    - Carries at least two Super Potions.
    - Fun fact: Her Abilities seem to be random, though with bias toward certain ones: I rolled Flash Fire Ninetales twice, which didn't help Amaria at all. I also rolled Magician Braixen and... Well, each Ability appeared at least once.

    Like Revenant Keta, she doesn't have special slot for Intense Style, so her team is simply bumped in levels by 10%, rounded down.

    Casual Style team info: Drops Ninetales, levels go 28->25 / 30->25 / 31->26. Other than that, it's the same.

    Kingdra details: Has Swift Swim and also carries Rain Dance and Dragon Dance.

    Rorrim B.'s details:
    - Yanmega also carries Supersonic and Pursuit.
    - Vivillon also has Shadow Hold (traps you), Shadow Mist (-2 to evasion) and Wish.
    - Accelgor can also use Mega Drain, Swift and Agility.
    - Wormadam's last move is Confusion.
    - Abilities are random, as well. I rolled Frisk Yanmega.
    - By the way, transforming into a Shadow Pokemon gives you the resistance to Shadow attacks. Might also give other Shadow mechanics, but I haven't seen them.

    It's probably obvious but neither Kingdra nor Rorrim B. have special teams for other difficulties, so normal tactics apply (0.9x/1.1x levels and 1.3x/0.8x money).

    About Flash - you can find Volbeat in the Purity Forest, which learns Flash naturally. You can either spare a Heart Scale (as Flash is all the way down in its moveset and is most likely forgotten by those wild Volbeat), or use Day Care. Day Care is open by now, right? If Jan programmed breeding correct, you can get around Volbeat's gender ratio by catching Illumise, as Illumise should be able to produce Eggs of both (similar to NidoranF; this also works with the male versions if one has a Ditto - right now we don't). Definitely easier and cheaper than getting it from casino, though it might take a while. Lv. 1 Volbeat will know Tackle and Flash. And once Rejuvenation adds Alola Pokémon, Jan might be merciful enough to give us the Alola shroom which also learns Flash on level.

    Route 3 golden part: Butterfree/Pidgey/Doduo/Slakoth*/Chingling/Pansear/Venipede
    *Part of Advanced Dex sidequest. Good luck; this fucker appears once in a blue moon.

    Ren detailed:
    - Prankster Sableye. Its last move is Recover.
    - Houndour holds Charcoal and has Flash Fire. Its other moves are Incinerate, Feint Attack and Work Up.
    - Scraggy holds Black Belt. Its other moves are Feint Attack, Smack Down and Headbutt.
    - Prankster Murkrow. Its last move is Tailwind.
    - Frogadier with Leftovers. Water Pulse/Smack Down/Round/Gunk Shot
    - Scraggy and Frogadier Ability is random. The other three seem to be hardcoded, as they always have Prankster/Flash Fire no matter how many times I replay the battle.

    Intense Style bumps up levels.

    Casual Style changes are: Drops Sableye; Murkrow and Frogadier drop Thunder Wave and Gunk Shot, respectively (leaving them with only 3 moves); and levels are reduced: 32->26 / 32->27 / 32->27 / 33->29

    Deep Sewers: Arbok/Grimer/Koffing/Weezing/Mightyena/Swalot/Woobat/Trubbish

    Palace Gardens: Girafarig/Dunsparce/Makuhita/Happiny/Blitzle/Zebstrika; note that the only new Pokemon is Zebstrika and its an evolution so you're NOT losing anything forever. There are times where there are new Pokemon in locations you'll never return to, but Jan is not cruel enough to make them lost forever–they always appear sometime later.

    Marianette:
    REBORN STYLE
    - Heliolisk has Dry Skin. Thunder Wave and Flash are its other moves. HP is Grass.
    - Porygon2 is holding Silk Scarf. Its other moves are Flash, Psyshock and Shock Wave.
    - Cincinno has Cute Charm. Its other moves are Rock Blast, Tail Slap and U-turn.
    - Pyroar has Rivalry and holds Charcoal. Its other moves are Noble Roar and Snarl. HP is Psychic.
    - Chatot has Keen Eye and holds Leftovers. Its other moves are Nasty Plot, Roost and HP Ground.
    - Slaking has Multipulse and Retaliate as its other moves.

    CASUAL STYLE
    Unlike Keta, the changes are relatively simple. Drops half of the team (Cinccino, Slaking and Porygon2), and the remaining team levels go 30->29 / 32->30 / 33 -> 32.

    INTENSE STYLE
    - Lv. 34 Heliolisk @ Leftovers with Dry Skin. Thunder Wave/Thunderbolt/Flash/HP Grass. (30->34; Electroweb->Thunderbolt)
    - Lv. 34 Chatot @ Leftovers with Keen Eye. Chatter/Nasty Plot/HP Ground/Heat Wave. (33->34; Roost->Heat Wave)
    - Lv. 34 Porygon2  @ Silk Scarf with Trace. Flash/Psyshock/Hyper Beam/Thunderbolt. (32->34; Tri Attack->Hyper Beam, Shock Wave->Thunderbolt)
    - Lv. 35 Cincinno @ Oran Berry with Cute Charm. Tail Slap/Rock Blast/Bullet Seed/U-turn. (31->35; Sitrus Berry->Oran Berry.  Yes, a downgrade)
    - Lv. 34 Pyroar @ Charcoal with Rivalry. HP Psychic/Flamethrower/Crunch/Noble Roar. (32->34; Incinerate->Flamethrower, Snarl->Crunc).
    - Lv. 37 Slaking @ Leftovers with Truant. Gunk Shot/Earthquake/Night Slash/Giga Impact (34->37; Multipulse->Gunk Shot; Retaliate->Giga Impact)
    Ironically, she uses her signature move only in Reborn Style. Also, it seems like the only Trainers that carry specific teams for Intense Style are Gym Leaders, by the way. Other Trainers just get the generic changes.

    also you might want to pick up that TM from mansion-turned-shack. IIRC it's Facade, one of the few good TMs you can get this early.

  13. So, I am finally done with it. Here's my comment on all the important battles.

    Victoria - Her team kinda countered my team. Had to tweak movesets and get a little lucky.

    Arclight - Clutch win on first try due to Toxic Spikes.

    ZEL - Started with Roserade, middle was Mightyena Moxie sweep. Then Magnezone came in and proceed to get through my team (fuck that Levitate). Roserade came through in the end with BrightPowder. Though I am fairly sure she could live a Discharge? Roserade is a special tank, after all.

    Adrienn - This is where I flipped the fuck out and went for the tedious way that is EV training. After 13 Gyms, you fucking made me do it Ame. CONGRATURATIONS UR A WINNER. Fuck Adrienn either way. My victory came in clutch tbh, when Whimsicott had a D.E.R.P and didn't use Tailwind. The hardest battle to win.

    For reference, I've never switched any Pokemon. Ever. Some of the more important battles came down to luck, to be honest. I don't know why but I don't really want to rotate my team. ZEL and Arclight were pretty easy but Victoria was pain and Adrienn can go to hell.
