  1. A bit of a weird choice, but I'm recommending Pachirisu to move up to C-rank

    Availability: 0 Badges

    Movepool: Absolute garbage

Comments: Where do I begin. You can get Pachi the moment you get two pokemon, she's readily available as long as you don't get rekt by that 50% chance for Zigzagoon. Her movepool's absolute garbage, but what's important is what moves she gets. The moves of note are Nuzzle/Super Fang/Charge Beam, and Sweet Kiss to a smaller extent. Nuzzle comes incredibly early on, and is the go-to move you'll be using for Pachi. The parahax lets you draw out the battle a bit longer, and let either Pachi build Charge Beam boosts, or someone else from your team boost up. Add Sweet Kiss if you want to be mean, and you have someone who can help you sweep early gym leaders relatively consistently. Super Fang is useful for chipping damage from the bulky af Pulse-mons, so you don't have to sit down for a good half hour trying to take down Pulse Tangrowth. Later in the game, Pachi still stays relevant by virtue of its pickup ability helping you get Rare candies to sell/healing items after battles, so even when she's not in battle, she provides utility for the team. She has a niche that no other mon shares, and I feel that it's enough to place her in C-Rank

tl;dr Pachi is good. Move her up pls

  2. The same thing applies, yes. But what if there are more colours than students? *MASSIVE HINT* Can you think of a reason why there has to be a duplicate of each colour?

Nah i'm just obsessed with coloured hats riddles

It's literally impossible to have more colours than people, unless you have phantoms wearing hats or some shit

  3. Like I said, solution's similar to the previous one

You have a limited number of colours that you can use. Colours don't go on infinitely, at some point you're coming on to a hard stop. If you have an infinitely larger number of people, you're going to have duplicates. This is where it starts tying into the first solution. From there, you go through the same motions, and you'll be able to deduce your hat colour

But realistically though, both numbers will be on a much smaller scale. Using the entire spectrum of colours would be too confusing, and at the end of the day, the test is on logic, not colour, so the professor's likely to use just a few choice colours that are easy to differentiate. Similarly, there isn't an infinite number of people in the world, much less students, so the number will also go down. But the same thing more or less still applies.

  4. Your answer is correct for a two person scenario, try a similar extension for a scenario with several people.

Yes that is the correct solution. If there are two people with blue hats, they would leave at the second bell ring and so on.

On to the second riddle then /o/

A Logician wants to test his students to see how smart they are. He tells them all to sit around in a circle such that each one can see all the others. He puts a coloured hat on all of them. None of them know what colour hat they wear, nor are they allowed to look at their hat in any way. He sets down the following conditions :

    1) The number of colours of hats is indefinite, there could be red, blue, black, white , purple or any other colour.

    2) A bell will be rung at regular intervals, if you know what colour your hat is, you can get up and tell me what colour your hat is. If you are correct, you pass. Else you fail.

    3) You are not allowed to communicate with each other in any way.

    4) If i feel like you should have guessed your hat colour already but haven't, you fail.

    5) It is impossible to not guess your hat colour throughout the test.

How do the students correctly guess their hat colours?

Isn't this similar to the previous one?

  5. Thank you Sync for your input. I'll try the Excadrill option, but that means I should sub SR on Clef with Flamethrower, as I'll need the fire attack, otherwise Ferro and Skarm will become soon big problems. I do not really understand the point of lead Aero with 2 attack moves, but I'll check how it works on the field and present the results back here.

The reason I had Zone was to form a AeroMag core, different than the usual DragMag, since Aero does not like the Steels either and can work much easier without them. The problem with Starmie is that it cannot keep the steels in the game long enough to cause them true trouble. I'll try your suggestions and see how it goes.

    Forgot to reply

Balance teams will forever have this major issue of having issues trying to fit all the roles you need to maintain an efficient team. Other archetypes don't have this issue. HO doesn't need to worry about X-Char, because you either have a way that lets you prevent your opponent from setting up, or you have something that straight up kills it. Stall doesn't care about top tier threats like Hoops/M-Alt, because you have enough space on your team to pick hard counters.

Balance doesn't have that luxury. The reason I gave M-Aero two support moves was so I could collapse your team roles, so you can fit more in later. With balance, everyone needs to pull their own weight and more, because there really isn't enough space to fit everything you need otherwise. There's a huge reason M-Sciz is one of the most popular megas for balance teams, it's able to cover a wide array of threats, while also providing whatever support you need.

At this point though, it might be better if you were to go for HO instead of sticking to balance. M-Aero thrives in offensive volt-turn teams, and this way, you can revive your AeroMag core to be much more effective than it could in balance

  6. Bumping this thread cause :

    1) I got 2 reallly good ones i want to share they may or may not be related to people wearing coloured hats

    2) We need moar riddles to solve y/y?

Are you ready for the first riddle?

    Here goes :

There is a room of people, each with a hat. Inside the room, there is no means of seeing your own reflection so no one can find out their own hat colour but they can all see the hats of the other people. The following rules are set down

    1) There can be no communication between each other

    2) The hats are either Blue or Red in colour. The number of Blue or Red hats is unknown and arbitrary.

    3) There is at least one Blue hat.

    4) A bell will be rung at regular intervals. The bell will be rung the same number of times as the number of people in the room

    5) Any one wearing a Blue hat is requested to leave the room at the ring of the bell as soon as possible.

How would the people wearing the Blue hats know they are wearing a blue hat and leave the room? Assume everyone is logical.

If you're going to ask why such a random situation, i'll just stop you and say it's a social experiment or something

Post your answers below and i'll tell you whether they are right or wrong. If you have more riddles, do post them here.

Good luck with this one, you'll really have to think about it :D

Oh God, it's been a long while since I've heard this one. Close to ten years, in fact. Let's see if I can remember the solution

There are multiple scenarios that can happen. Let's assume for presentation's sake that there are five people, and only one blue hat for the first situation

From the perspective of someone with a red hat, they can see that there's exactly one person with a blue hat, so they wouldn't move

From the perspective of someone with a blue hat however, since they don't see anyone else step out, they'll step out by themselves, because of the min. one blue hat

If there's two blue hats, the situation's slightly different.

In the eyes of someone with a blue hat, they can tell that there's another person with a blue hat, so they won't move

After awhile, since the two of them aren't moving, they can independently figure out that there's more than one blue hat in play. Because the guys with the blue hats can only see one other blue hat guy, they can make the assumption that they also have a blue hat, so they'll both walk out

Because the other people see two hats, they're inclined to stay for the next situation.

In this next situation, 3 people are wearing blue hats.

Since nobody moved after the previous situation, you can assume that there are more than two hats in play. Keep in mind that every blue hatted person can see two other hats, so they're inclined to stay. After this, it's just a rinse and repeat of the previous situation, all the way to infinity

  7. Chesnaught essentially has two options in OU - Standard physical wall, and Salac Belly Drum.

    What

The set OP posted is the standard set

    Anyway, onto the RMT

Now, the first thing that stands out is Magnezone in this team. Magnezone's typically used in DragMag cores, because the win condition for the team is always centered on the dragons, and Zone needs to take Steels out ASAP so the dragons don't get cockblocked while attempting a sweep.

With balance teams though, your win condition changes with every battle. It severely limits Zone's usefulness, because you're now using him as utility instead of support. On top of this, the main things you're trying to beat with Zone, Scizor, Ferro, and Magnezone are already dealt with by Reflect Type Starmie, so it really makes Magnezone's role redundant

Because of this, I recommend running Choice Scarf Excadrill > Choice Scarf Magnezone

    AY9iQz5.gif

    Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Earthquake
    - Iron Head
    - Rock Slide
    - Toxic/Stealth Rocks/Filler
Scarf Excadrill is a nice alternative to Zone, it still deals with Fairies + M-Meta, while giving you an additional win condition against opposing HO teams. The final move is up in the air, toxic makes Exca a nice lure against Lando-T and Hippo, SR is obligatory hazards, etc
Aside from that, consider running Lead M-Aero > Wallbreaker Aero
    gQlDcT4.gif
    Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
    Ability: Pressure
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Taunt
    - Stealth Rock
    - Stone Edge
    - Aqua Tail/U-Turn

Lead Aero gives you a much more consistent lead, without detracting too much from his original role. Taunt lets M-Aero wallbreak much more easily while also healping you block opposing SR leads/Defoggers. The choice for the fourth move is up in the air, Aqua Tail lets you check M-Diancie leads and rogue Hippos, while U-Turn gives you more pivoting power.

Finally, I'd recommend running Thunder Wave > Stealth Rocks on Clefable

  8. I don't nickname my Pokemon in-game because of the character limit and now with Gen 6 because of the name filter that does more harm than good. But I've thought of nicknames for every fully evolved and standalone Pokemon (including alternate forms in some cases, and all 28 Unown) and I use them on a Pokemon adoptables site I'm a member of.

    Oh man, you're telling me

I had a Scizor nicknamed "CircumScizor", but I had to cut it to CircumSciz because of the character limit

I'm still salty from that, I'd nickname everything if I could bypass that character limit

  9. for some reason, I've been enjoy watching Case Closed episodes for the past couple of days. Got any other recommendations on any other mystery/detective/crime anime I should watch or anything similar to it?

Have you seen Psycho-Pass yet? If not, that's something I'd recommend. It has amazing story progression, they're able to explain the rules of the world in the beginning, and the rest of the story builds around those rules. It's amazing how beautiful the emotional spectrum is.

It also looks beautiful, which is a great plus

  10. My God, I hate Anything Goes

Generally, when you're at ~1500 on the ladder, you run into competent teams. AG throws that out the window, I faced someone who had a full OU team in the 1500s. It's such a huge grind to get to people who are decent at the game. I faced teams with six Klefkis that all they do is try to swagplay you, people who don't understand the type charts, and people who cuss you out for using legendaries on a tier that's called Anything Goes.

    This sounds elitist as fuck

Don't even get me started on Numel

  11. The level cap. So unnecessary and unfair, since gym leaders can have pokemon surpassing the cap.

Same sentiment. I think the level cap is a great idea, it removes grinding as an option, controls the pace of the game, bla bla bla

But there's no point in a level cap if you're going to greatly exaggerate the leader's advantage alongside it. The leaders get held items galore, moves that aren't garbage, a field that helps their team and you get garbage tms and at best, a type-boosting item. You're not fighting on fair terms, you're fighting on uneven ones. Strategy goes out the window when you play against them since you're severely limited in what you can do. There's no point in trying to change the terrain, because the moves required are so niche and rare at that point that you rarely have the oppurtunity to do so. It becomes a grindfest in a different sense, now you're grinding for mons outside your regular team, and this isn't a better alternative.

Gym leaders shouldn't be a wall that absolutely stops your progress. Especially in a game that has an interesting story, it completely cuts off the immersion experience and leaves you less invested. A gym leader should be challenging, I won't deny it. But it should never feel unfair
