    I'm not sure whats worse, escort missions where characters can die, or save points in a RPG with heavy RNG...

      Escort missions in any MMORPG (like WoW)

      escort to this point - encounter starts you kite them to that point (because the NPC also battles) - and when the enemy dies THEY RUN ALL THE WAY BACK!
