  1. That's a silly argument though: at the end of the day, cotton candy will not "win" anything we don't already cheese. People will still destiny bond El's ditto, they'll still cheese field effects, etc. If people don't want to improve, they will always find a way. Removing tools from ones belt only stimulates improvement to a certain extent though. I make stronger teams without being able to lean back on left-overs, hyper potions, and all the super competitive hold items. That does indeed make us better: and players have to do a LOT of improvement if they ever hope to advance past shade.

But after a certain extent, you are less attempting to make players improve, and more request them to tear down trees with their bare hands. Even though it's a task that can be succeeded at, one has to ask at some point "are we having fun?". And if you reduce the tools available to players too much, than the answer for more and more people will be no. I love this fan project to death, despite how late I've joined your community, it does not reduce my love. I don't think reducing the effectiveness of that item is the best choice though: re-evaluating it's price, to create a feeling of exclusivity whenever one is used or even purchased, would better create fun and add difficult choices for the player (Do I buy cotton candy? Do I buy this useful battle item from the market instead? Decisions!)

Presently cotton candy is too cheap: Even though players could just run around using pay-day if they desired, raising the cost would better balance it's effect than just chopping the item down into redundancy-ville. Players can just as easily change system times and spam the lottery if they desire grinding items: pricing has quite a bit of effect on what items players want to use. Let us never forget pokemon gold's Lemonade.

I fail to see how self improvement is silly. Just because there's other ways to "cheese" things doesn't suddenly mean two wrongs make a right. You say reduce the tools too much but this is just one little thing, so I don't think that argument really works either. As for price adjustment, I can agree with you there maybe.. Or limitations on how many you can buy in general through the entire game but in the end I don't see the removal or correction of this item as a big deal personally.
  2. here is my own feelings on things.

If difficulty is too tightly controlled we lose many of the things that allow our community to have such diversity: including the ability to do monotype runs for many of us. Not all of us are the best players of all time: if you take away some of the advantages that are available to us, we crash and burn. I'd be very unhappy to see cotton candy go, because having options that are powerful is important to players having control over their own progression.

Buffing it's cost to 10000 or 20000 pokedollars is better than just destroying it's existance entirely, because then we'd think before we pop one.

Yes but the idea of improvement counters all this. Ever thought you're not the best or that good of a player purely because you've never HAD to improve in the first place? If you crash and burn (hit the bottom) then all you can and will do is get better.

  3. Well, nobody said that they had to "lolrevive" to win. I honestly feel like you commented without even reading my whole post. It is not circumventing any challenge. I swear I already accounted for that. It is the players responsiblity to choose for themselves how they want to win. I feel like I'm being bullied into playing the game I love in a certain way. It's like your saying, "Play my way or you are doing it wrong." There is no right or wrong way to play an RPG game. Everyone has the right to choose for themselves. If you don't wanna revive to win., nobody is making you. It's not my problem if people can't restrain themselves from buying and using them just because they are there. Why should the more casual players have to pay for that?

I'm not saying there's any right or wrong to play and that you should do it that way. But that's why it can be looked down by others. It's not beating the game, it's getting through it and there's a difference is all. Just a difference, not right or wrong.

  4. WARNING: Mild (...but on topic) rant ahead:

Why do people always bash on the stuff that is too convienent or powerful or "takes away from the fun of the game." If you don't like it, then nobody is making you use it. Are you truly attempting to ruin it for people who only wated a relatively difficult playthrough? Do you just want to lessen the amount of people playing this game or something? It's just like The "Etrian Oddysey: Untold" situation. That game has always been known for it's difficulty and having no story - just pure dungeon crawler. But, you know... It's not like they took classic mode off or anything like that. And The same expert-type difficulty is available, too. Isn't it just petty shunning of people who aren't "tough" enough to handle it? I love the challenge of this game, and this isn't necessarily representative of my thoughts, but consider the other players feelings, too. If you would rather have revives than cotton candies, then buy revives... or are you afraid that you will have too much money left if you do that? Ame can just raise the price to 3000 or so on revives (...and not even necessarily that). I'm just saying you have the options of items that fit your playstyle. Just because the OP options are there doesn't mean you have to use them. Don't change the cotton candies to half HP revives. Just change the price if neccesary to lessen the amount available. Because, let's face it. The people who really want (or need) them will do the extra work to get them, albeit a bit disdainfully. One of the greatest things abouts RPGs is the diversity in options for gameplay. To take certain "conveinent" options away would be to go against that ever so important RPG element, which is not okay. I just think that Amethyst or whoever came up with the idea is getting ready to make a huge mistake. Considering certain events in the game being fought before even having access to revival herbs, I simply don't appreciate it. It is completely asinine to do this. Anyways, I'm done ranting. That is all.

Simple. When someone designs a game and a certain challenge within it, circumventing the challenge kind of takes out the whole point of it in the first place. In this case just going lolrevive until you win kind of defeats... half the point of a challenge such as a gym leader in the first place, don't you think? There's nothing wrong with not being as good as others in a game or playing it for other reasons aside from the challenge though of course.

  5. I think that currently the league has no champion and when you beat the E4, you become the Champion...

...but then comes Fern as your first challenger, and you have to beat him to finish the game.

That's a nice little creative twist

  6. I have to admit I'm pretty excited for the new update. I'm new to the forums but I've been playing this game on and off since 2013 or 2012 and really just want to say thank you for the game. It's really enjoyable, honestly I like it better than the actual official series.

  7. I'm just happy we finally got a nice and powerful Starmie and Breloom, Now I wait for Gengar, Gyarados, and Venusaur to come back

Wait, do people think getting Gengar isn't possible right now? I literally just found it yesterday.

Edit: Oh derp you mean they were cut from EP15, my bad.

  8. I wrote it down on the list after seeing a different modification somewhere else the other day, but Slugma and Magcargo lend themselves pretty nicely to becoming slime-type things rather than lava. I was going to do that as a base concept for their shininess, unless the blue slugma is particularly favored?

Personally me and my group that are playing think shiny Magcargo looks fantastic. So what's the idea behind this? The community is taking over shiny development in time or are we simply leaving criticism? I'm a bit confused personally.

Anyways, as for a Pokemon I think needs a change... I'd say I think Swampert definitely needs an update. I don't really think many people will really like the whole green thing, I don't personally either.

On a slightly less important note, I think Ninetales shiny is.. alright. Like it's not bad but I feel like it's a bit lacking and could be improved. Not to mention it's a pain to get a shiny one so I feel it might slightly deserve a bit more attention.
