    It would be the bee's knees if there was a sidequest in a pokemon game that ended up being longer than the main story. The only way to find it would be through some random out-of-the-place series of events no NPC hints at. It would not be required to do anything in the game, not even to catch all of the pokemon. It would just be there, waiting for the game's community to discover and go "OMG LOOK WHAT I FOUND"

      At this point you might as well go all out and suggest a full-fledged alternate route a la Soul Nomad.

      No, no, no. It has to be just a side quest. Making it a different route would spoil everything. It's supposed to be a surprise.

      It's like falling into an Inner World with giant mushrooms in which all wild battles are triple battles. It's supposed to throw the community for a loop. Every hour they go along this sidequest, they'll be thinking "how long is this?!"

      Eventually there will even be creepypastas about it. Yes...
