  1. Hey there! I thought I might come along and introduce myself to this thread, since I plan to stay in Reborn's forums for a while. I also though I might as well ask a few questions, as to gain the insight of those who clearly played more than I.

I had an account for a while, but I only very recently started taking LoL seriously. I think I have a grand total of less than 10 normal games; right now, I mostly just play bot games to farm out the FWotD bonuses so I can try out interesting champions. I also had two ranked matches, both part of promos; I lost both as Support. Hence, I'm sorry if my questions are pretty stupid.

    1) Right now, I'm a toplane main. So far, my toplane pool consists partly of tanks (mostly Sion, Poppy, and I'll probably try Nasus out again should the team comp be good enough for him), but also mostly squishy damage dealers (Xin Zhao, Akali, Kayle, Teemo if I feel like being the scum of the earth, etc). I also have some really weird picks I wouldn't really rely on in Ranked games that I carried over from my short lived Support days (specifically Braum and Taric). I'm also planning to try out some jungler picks brought toplane (like Amumu and Hecarim, for example; maaaaaaaaybe Master Yi) for their utility and ability to flex picks in drafts. My question is, what champion would you suggest I pick up and bring toplane? I understand that tanky toplanes are all the rage right now, but Poppy and Sion are the only ones I'm capable of playing, and even then I'm nowhere near mastering them (or any champion, to be fair). Considering my lower than average skill level and my being new to rank games, is there a tank that you'd recommend me pick up that fits into many team comps? Additionally, are there any great carry toplaners that you'd recommend to pick up? Minus Irelia, that thing's probably getting permabanned for the rest of eternity.

    2) Are there any picks I should keep in mind to handle comon low-elo picks? By these I mean Garen, Riven, Teemo, et cetera. Well, low-elo Riven actually doesn't sound that intimidating actually, but it would still be nice to pocket something for her. Teemo I find to be hard to deal with on paper. As I understand it, in the current meta, tankier toplaners are more appreciated, but I can't think of any tanks that would enjoy dealing with Teemo. The damage toplaners I have also don't appreciate blinds as they rely on autoattacks quite a lot. Is there anything you'd recommend I pick up for these matchups?

    3) I consider ADC to be my secondary role. I know this notion is stupid, but I have no idea why; why are marksmen not brought toplane? They can probably kite the opposing toplaner to obscurity, and some have some sort of mobility to keep themselves safe (like Caitlyn, Lucian, Tristana, Kindred maybe?? And Miss Fortune is just really slippery so). I'm not arguing for the sake of bringing marksmen toplane, I'm just genuinely curious as to the reasoning behind this.

    4) Good resources to learn toplani from? I never see Youtube content creators with toplane players. The ones I can list from the top of my head are Foxdrop (Jungle), Phylol (ADC), and Redmercy (Midlane). Is there anyone out there who plays toplane and has great informative videos out?

That's all from me for now. To those considering answering, I thank you beforehand!

1.Play the champions you want. Being better at 2 or 3 champions is better than learning 20 champions especially if you are new. If I had to suggest something I would suggest Darius, Hecarim, and Malphite because those are all champions that are not gonna move much in the tier list and they are just good staple top laners to learn.

    2. Counterpicking is not something you need to learn in low elo so don't worry about it and just play the champions you want.

3.Adcs are fragile and need some sort of help to get through lane phase and be strong mid or late game. Quinn is a good top laner but that's it.

    4. Yeah, I am not sure if there are any YouTubers that main top and give nice information but Dyrus is a former pro so you can watch him to be able to learn and understand what he does and why and he is just fun to watch in my opinion. Here is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/TSirDiesAlot

  2. So this might actually be a bug or this might be me being dumb but I am pretty confident it is a bug. Anyway... so I had a focus sash on my Onix and right now I don't have it for some odd reason. What I am thinking is knock off might have permanently got rid of the item since I remember having it during my 4th gym battle. The item is not in my bag or on any of the Pokemon I have including the ones in my pc cuz focus sash is a really good item to put on your useless pokemon in your pc.

  3. You're exactly on point here, if a get taken out once, its all good, but then you know where he lives, and that gives everyone the advantage.

Torbjorn's turret is a little more annoying in my opinion. Like, its not impossible, but if there happens to be two of them, and ya're using someone with close-mid range, it just starts to get annoying.

Yeah he is bit more annoying imo.

  4. So the new shop opened up today. Nothing too interesting came in my shop but I noticed something very interesting that I dont think riot explain as far as I remember(sry if i am wrong and they did say this). The champions that I playing the most get the smallest discounts and the champions i played the least out of the six champs got the higher discounts. Does anyone else notice this trend with their shop?

  5. Her ult is the most broken thing I have every seen. She can ult to bot to block their path to make them either flash the wall or fight 2v3. In lcs this ult will burn tons of flashes especially when enemy tp is down. Im gonna try to play her but based on her play style I dont think I will like her that much. It is kinda like Ahri where 99% you will need to land that charm to solo kill someone. I just feel like that Taliyah won't feel good to play. if you will your we combo u can't do much for like 10 seconds( dont quote me on that).

  6. There isn't much variety to the gameplay yet, sadly enough. there's really only one way to lay each character, which really only changes very slight based on whether you are attacking or defending.

Most everyone dies quickly, so after very brief moments of action, it's very dead- either as you wait to respawn or you wait for the other team to respawn.

For a shooter, movement is very slow. Like the quick deaths, it means it takes that much longer between action sessions. I get that it adds value to mobility specials on characters, but it's not really a good action shooter if the fastest most characters can 'go is Sunday stroll through tar'.

Character imbalances are pretty obvious so far too. There are a lot of characters that never see use or any decent amount of success. There's a bunch of variety for variety's sake, but the balance was never looked at properly.

I should have expected a company that is used to making games where you point and click/press a button for actions and moves to make a shooter that thinks only snipers aim down sights. It feels so bad. It's supposed to be a first person shooter but it feels more like a slow, third person shooter. Like MGS, but that was purposely done to make the shooting feel bad and encourage you to sneak around instead. This looks and feels like it was made primarily for pc and mice. That's the only time this design choice would make sense because -point and click- it wouldn't matter.

Explosions/AoE damage. They're done pretty terribly in this game. Explosions like Soldier 76 and Zarya's secondary attacks have neither the splash nor the damage they should have. Visual effects are such that you actually can't see or tell the damage radius at all so you have to pay close attention to foe health bars to see if any part of it hit or not. They both have the trade off of being difficult to aim while traveling slower, without the benefits of either noteworthy damage or damage reach. And the reason to that is the terribly slow speed of everyone's movement. In any other shooter, if your character moved that slow, it would get eaten up by blasts and explosions because they wouldn't be able to escape them. They would be tanks and have ways of blocking or mitigating it. So in this game, explosive shots have the incredibly explosive damage radius of two feet. Just terrible game design, really.

Your own health meter is a little too small and out of the way to see clearly, especially in a firefight, when such information is incredibly to decisions such as pushing ahead or peeling off to heal. Also, the absolute lack of stagger or decent damage effect is weird to get used to. It can he hard to tell if I got hit or it really did miss. Other times shit flies straight at me and I'm sure it hit me, so I have to specifically look down to my health as see if anything happened and half the time nothing has.

So, characters I played and did well with:

    Soldier76

    Zarya

    D. Va

So yeah, a lot of design choices and mistakes that prove how new the devs are to fps's.

They are new to fps games so I don't blame them that much for how the game is atm but it does defiantly need some changes. They probably learned a ton through the beta which makes me even more excited to see how the game is when it comes out.

A lot of people say that you have to play different characters to beat Bastion which means he does not deserve a nerf but at the same time the way you get punished for letting a Bastion stay still for a small amount of time is kinda crazy.

  7. Forgive me if I don't trust your building advice when you suggest RoA on Ori >_>

I never tried is and have not played ori in a while but, I do not see a problem with buying Roa on ori. It gives her almost the same stats as morello besides cdr and gives her extra health. If you have tried it and it does not work then ignore what I said about ROA.

  8. Look, just because you don't like it on Ori doesn't mean I don't. I personally dislike the new Morelleonomicon, and for the matchup Athenes mr was beneficial. I built what I felt was comfortable.

I think that if the champion does not take advantage of the passive then you should not buy it but if the champ does then it is preference. I personally would of went abyssal and then morello or a roa.

  9. It might not be the best build but I like having the armor since I go for enemy carries in fights and I sometimes become the main focus(I feel I should always be focused but some ppl just dont target well). Maybe in higher divisions I would buy the void staff instead but in this division with the way you are allowed to play, I just feel this suits this style better.

  10. fh gives more armor, cdr, and mana compared to zhonyas which makes it better on ryze. Also you don't really need the zhonyas active to survive since u not really a backline carry. I am not sure wether zhonyas or zh give more dmg but you use the stats on zh more then you do on zhonyas.

    Ghost got EXTREMELY buffed

    • "Cooldown lowered to 180 seconds from 210 seconds.
    • Movement speed now scales up with level - increased to [28% at level one up to 45% at level 18] from 27%.
      • "Your champion can move through units and has 28-45% (depending on champion level) increased Movement Speed for 10 seconds."
  11. Also I wanna say that ryze with roa+tear+morellonimicon+heart is broken. morello gives 400 mana PLUS 100 ap.

Viktor is strong in Korea. Predictions were made bois, the king is back.

  12. Another Fizz skin? No one even likes Fizz. In fact I think everyone hates him. I do like the Kindred and Shyvana skins though. Those look clean.

Also Taliyah's face is... weird. More of the shape of her head.. and those eyebrows. Those eyebrows... If she's some sort of rock mage I wonder what happens if you have a Malphite on your team LOL

tfw you love fizz and his skin looks sick af.

  13. Ok I am bout to say what I think is op from looking at the patch notes. If you wanna ask why i believe something is op I will be on multiple times today to check this chat and explain my reasoning.

    Champions:

Kennen(ult does a truck load of dmg now.)

    Veigar(TOO MUCH DMG)

Velkoz(I already think vel is strong, this just adds to it. Look at my match history)

Syndra?(I think Bjerg and POE will like her)

Brand( Im gonna try to grind with this champ.)

    Zyra

    Cass

Vladamir?(he has really good dmg late game but has no cc. He basically a dmg dealing tank with less ways to heal imo.)

    Viktor(practice makes perfect)

Zed?(you cant qss zed ult now)

NOTE: strong early game bot laners I think should be PICKED OFTEN(CAIT) so its easier to control dragon.

JUNGLERS WILL GAIN EXP MUCH FASTER NOW DUE TO JG CAMP CHANGES. PLS WATCH OUT FOR GANKS.

    Good Items(op items included):

    More champs will use tear

Catalyst( very good for laning phase, anivia, cho, etc. get buffs from this.)

Chalice( also good for laning, will be used more often now)

Morellonimicon(more of an item you will buy against the likes of vladamir)

    Athenes(nice support item now)

Abyssal(I think this is staying in the same spot as a decent pick up for 99% of ap champs)

New Hextech items( One gives a escape or way to go in and one slows enemies to stop ganks or chase)

    Bloodrazer

Buffs(what each do and their uses):

Earth dragon can help destroy objectives faster(dont forget baron). Its not the the greatest out of the dragons but dont underestimate it.

Fire Dragon gives TONS OF AP AND AD HOLY ****.

Cloud Dragon increases out of combat movement speed. Its good for early game roams, thats pretty much it. What you can do if your team is ahead and you have this dragon is to just leave it there and dont let the enemies have it so they dont get and thing dragon buff and u can scale to mid game.

Water dragon restores 10% hp and mana every 20 seconds. If you get this and lose lane you should go cry in the corner. I am sorry but this is like extremely broken in the early game.

If you controlled and got most dragons then Elder dragon is EXTREMELY BROKEN(increases buffs by 50%) If not then its the same as getting fifth dragon pre patch.

Rift Herald is like the ultimate gift to win lane. If you lose lane with this then I suggest you go talk with your doctor. THIS LASTS 20 MINUTES AND CAN STACK WITH BARON LIKE PLS DONT LOSE WITH THIS.(only spawns once)

Baron duration increased by 30 seconds. Hey, thats pretty good! :D

Blue buff and red buff extremely buff( I think its safe to say that every buff besides air dragon is op.

when a monster is gonna spawn in 60 seconds both teams will be able to see that.( dont be predictive with the order you clear your camps is why I think riot put this in the game).
