  1. This might be a silly question, but are there any repeatable ways to get Trash Cloak Burmy before the second Gym? I'm doing a Bug Monotype run, and I really don't want to go into that gym without a Flying-type resist.

The guide says that greninja gets battle bond. Is that a thing in this mod?

Yup! I coded it and everything!

You probably won't get to test it in the current release, though; I've removed Froakie, Chikorita and Torchic from the starter pool because Battle Bond, Grassy Surge, and Torchic's overall power kinda break the early-game. Don't worry, though; they'll be obtainable eventually!

  3. Once upon a time, there was a simple fan of Pokemon Reborn named Lord Chespin. One day, he discovered that another fan, named Commander, had created a mod of Pokemon Reborn called Pokemon Reborn Redux, which made the game harder and added additional subplots. Amazed by the effort, Lord Chespin decided he wanted to give back to the community in the same way. Around the same time, Lord Chespin discovered a mod for Pokemon Showdown called Cool Funky Mode, which changed several mechanics, rebalanced several Pokemon, and made the game more interesting in general. With these two mods fresh in his mind, Lord Chespin knew what he had to do.

And so, after two years of on-again off-again work, I, Lord Chespin, introduce you to...

    Cool Funky Mode

    POKEMON REBORN: COOL FUNKY MODE

So, what does this mod entail?

This mod is a mechanics overhaul mod. If you've ever played a Drayano hack like Pokemon Volt White / Blaze Black or Pokemon Sacred Gold / Storm Silver, you know what to expect. If not, let me break down some of the changes:

Buffing Underwhelming Pokemon! Pokemon like Castform, Silvally, Luvdisc, and Kricketune are actually useful now!

Buffing Underwhelming Moves! Multi-hit Poison Sting? Dual Chop never misses? 10,000,000-Volt Thunderbolt and Catastropika are regular moves and not Z-Moves? All this and more!

Buffing Underwhelming Abilities! Ice Body works like Flame Body but with Freezing! Clear Body prevents self-inflicted stat drops as well! Rock Head additionally boosts the critical-hit ratio of all recoil moves! Why the heck not?!

Buffing Underwhelming Mechanics in General! Paralysis is returned to its pre-Gen 7 speed reduction! Hail additionally weakens Water- and Fire-type moves! Regular Poison is actually viable, as Toxic Spikes isn't a thing anymore!

Restricting Common Polarizing Moves! Tired of Toxic, Scald, and Stealth Rock being spammed everywhere? Then look no further!

INTRINSIC LEVITATION! This is the big one! If a Pokemon is physically shown to be levitating or flying, it doesn't need Levitate to avoid Ground-type moves! While some Ground-type moves like Drill Run can still hit levitating Pokemon, they can only hit for Neutral damage or less!

About 99% of the changes can be found here: http://cancerfairy.weebly.com/

(Yes I am aware of the website's title, it's named after the mod's creator, Papa Cancer; he didn't mean to be offensive)

Additionally, we've got some other stuff, too!

A New Subplot! Join the CFM League, an offshoot of the Reborn League, and work with its quirky staff to unravel the new mechanics!

    - New Events! Wynaut with an exclusive move before the first Gym? Chinchou before Shelly? Sure, why not!

New Sidequests! Recruit every single member of Corey's team, for example!

Gym Leader Rematches! Track down special CDs to take another swing at Gym Leaders!

    - Three Different Possible Battles per Leader! Ripped straight from Inspired by Pokemon Reborn Redux! Choose from a Singles, Doubles, or Masters battle, and get special rewards for beating the Masters battle!

    And One Last Thing:

    Spoiler

So, uh, this project was mainly to cut my teeth with RPGMaker, so I could eventually move onto my dream: my own fully-fledged original fangame, designed with these mechanics from the ground up. Unfortunately, I cannot draw sprites for the life of me. While I can do literally everything else, and I can probably do enough to finish the mod, I need some help if I ever want to finish a full fangame. So, if you enjoy the mod and want to help design sprites for both this and the original fangame I'm making, just hit me up; I need all the help I can get!

And, uh, that's all, I guess. If you enjoyed the mod, just comment below, and thank you for taking time out of your day to humor me!

Hello boys, girls, and none of the above, to yet another challenge run of Pokemon Reborn. I've mainly stuck to monotype runs, but today I've decided to do something a little more... unorthodox. So, if anybody here is unfamiliar with Bogleech, he's an artist and the creator of the webcomic Awful Hospital. He enjoys creating monsters, and he reviewed every Pokemon created up to the original Pokemon Sun and Moon.

That last part, people, is why we're here today.

For this challenge run, I'm only going to use "Bogleech-Approved" Pokemon- in other words, Pokemon lines that were given a 5/5 by Bogleech. Ranging all the way in viability from the lowly Dunsparce to the mighty Lunala, this should give me plenty of tools to work with. Here's the full list of his reviews, in case you're curious; for convenience's sake, I'll be posting the ones I'll be using here:

  5. @Jess That's actually a pretty interesting piece of art you found! I'll change my other post to include it later!

Also, I'd like to contribute some more, this time with some Mega Pika-clones:

    Mega Pachirisu

    Spoiler

    Image result for pachirisu

    Type: Electric

    Ability: Regenerator

    Stats:

    - HP: 60

    - Atk: 45

    - Def: 130 (+60)

    - SpA: 15 (-30)

    - SpD: 150 (+ 60)

    - Spe: 105 (+10)

Remember the time that guy won the Pokemon world championships with a Pachirisu? This mega hopes to help it refill that niche as a Follow Me supporter. With Aegislash-level bulk, Nuzzle and Super Fang to not be completely passive, and Regenerator to keep it healed, this thing's going to be sticking around to eat Draco Meteors for a looooooooong time. Unfortunately, it does barely any direct damage, and thus is fairly one-dimensional; it's also almost useless in singles. Despite this, it's still arguably the best Follow Me supporter with this Mega, and as Toxapex has shown in OU, "predictable" does not mean "unviable".

Giving the Finger (Doubles Follow Me Support)

    Spoiler

    Pachirisu @ Pachirisite

    Ability: Volt Absorb

    252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

    Impish Nature

    - Follow Me

    - Super Fang

    - Nuzzle / Toxic

    - U-turn

The IVs and Nature make Pachirisu incredibly physically bulky, letting it live through pretty much everything and giving a teammate time to set up. Follow Me is mandatory due to Mega Pachirisu being built to abuse it. Super Fang gives Mega Pachirisu some offensive presence, halving the HP of a foe and thus making it easier for teammates to KO. Nuzzle spreads paralysis, while Toxic spreads bad poison; either one works, though do note that you can't paralyze the omnipresent ground-types or poison Magic Bounce Pokemon like Mega Sableye. U-turn helps Pachirisu pivot out to a teammate, giving it relatively safe entry and helping keep Pachirisu healthy in conjunction with Regenerator.

  6. Well, this thread seems to be kind of quiet right now, so allow me to fix that!

    Mega Komola

    Spoiler

    Image result for komala

(Yes the artwork is a joke, but I couldn't find anything else; the stats and stuff are real, though. I'll change it if anyone finds anything better.)

    Type: Normal/Fairy

    Ability: Comatose

    Stats:

    HP: 65

    Atk: 135 (+20)

    Def: 95 (+30)

    SpA: 75

    SpD: 95

    Spe: 115 (+50)

So, Komala's ability to be completely and utterly immune to status effects gives it the potential to be an outstanding physical wallbreaker, with no way to cripple it after it starts its sweep other than just whacking away at it. Unfortunately, this was undermined in practice by 1) its average-at-best bulk and 2) its absolutely pathetic speed. This Mega seeks to remedy that, giving it increased speed and bulk, as well as slightly more power (not that it needs much, as its regular attack is higher than Kommo-o's). Its Fairy-typing helps it to beat the Ghost- and Rock-types that would wall it, as well as give it perfect coverage alongside Earthquake.

No Struggles, Only Dreams Now... (Swords Dance)

    Spoiler

    Komala @ Komalite

    Ability: Comatose

    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

    Jolly Nature

    - Swords Dance

    - Return

    - Play Rough

    - Earthquake

Pretty simple stuff. Set up Swords Dance on a predicted switch, then plow through the foe's team with your coverage moves. Not much else to say, really.

    The Sandman (Bulk Up)

    Spoiler

    Komala @ Komalite

    Ability: Comatose

    EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

    Jolly Nature

    - Bulk Up

    - Wish / Return

    - Play Rough

    - Earthquake

A bulkier take on Mega Komala, the goal here is to set up a Bulk Up on a predicted switch, then steadily accumulate more boosts as you plow through the foe's team. Wish gives you semi-reliable recovery, but Return can be used if you don't need it. Play Rough and Earthquake have perfect coverage, so they're non-negotiable.

  7. Hey! So, it's been ages since I was here on this forum last, and to hype myself up for Episode 17 I thought I'd revive a thread I made eons ago.

As the title of the thread suggests, this is where you can create your own Mega Evolutions. Make 'em as crazy and over-the-top as you want- anything goes! Just, uh, try to keep the joke Megas for April Fool's Day.

To start, I'll throw around an idea that I was planning on using in a fangame of my own:

    Mega Silvally

    Spoiler

    Image result for silvally

    Mega Silvally

    Type: Normal*

Ability: RKS Overload (Defensively, this Pokemon is every type; identical to Pokemon Insurgence's Primal Giratina)

    Base Stats:

    HP: 95

    Atk: 130

    Def: 105

    SpA: 130

    SpD: 105

    Spe: 105

New Available Moves: Extreme Speed (Learned through Move Relearner), Recover (Learned through Move Relearner), Multi-Attack 2.0** (Learned through Special Move Tutor)

    * This typing only affects Mega Silvally's STAB options, as RKS Overload overrides it.

** This move is a Normal-type Physical Move with 10 PP, 100 Base Power, and 100% accuracy. It ignores type resistances and immunities, similarly to the ability of Mega Arceus in Pokemon Insurgence, and allows Silvally to Mega Evolve without a stone, much like Mega Rayquaza and Dragon Ascent.

So, poor Silvally was supposed to be a Jack-of-All-Trades, but thanks to disappointingly low base stats it ended up being a Master of None. The goal of this Mega was to give this Poor Man's Arceus some use outside of PU (after all, even there it's outclassed by its Pre-evolution, of all things), and to do that, it needed one hell of a buff. With its new incredible ability, it sports a whopping eight immunities and four resistances, as well as only one weakness to Rock-type attacks. That alone would be awesome, but thanks to access to a STAB Move that nothing resists, powerful priority, and Swords Dance, this thing could be hellish to face. Of course, while its bulk is now above average and its speed is pretty good, its Attack is rather low for a Mega and its speed still leaves it outsped by stuff like Greninja, Blacephalon, Latias, Latios, and Mega Diancie.

    Sample Sets:

    And Man Grew Proud (Sweeper)

    Spoiler

Silvally @ Life Orb / Leftovers

    Ability: RKS System

    252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

    Jolly Nature

    - Multi-Attack 2.0

    - Swords Dance

    - Extreme Speed

    - Recover

With this set, Silvally finally becomes the threat it was meant to be. Basically, you just set up a swords dance, and then either use Multi-Attack 2.0 for stuff that resists your attacks, or Extreme Speed for everything else. Recover lets you heal up, but watch out for statuses, as each one cripples Mega Silvally. Life Orb gives all your moves a buff, but Leftovers helps Silvally stay around longer.

Feel free to let me know what you come up with!

  8. NOBODY EXPECTS THE POST NEARLY A MONTH LATER

So, uh, sorry it took so long to update. I got busy, I guess. I'll try to update this more regularly.

    Part 2: The Trash Man

Well, despite the type disadvantage, I'd say the fight with the Shiny Garbodor and its Cronies went pretty well. I led with Siren, Ren led with Murkrow, and the Trash gang sent the pawns first and let the Trubbish attack first. Murkorw injured one of the Trubbish with a peck, and it retaliated with a pound; the other Trubbish poisoned both Siren and Murkrow with a poison gas, and Siren dented both Trubbish with a Liquid Voice-transformed disarming voice. The two Trubbish ganged up on Murkrow with two pounds, but it managed to survive and attacked the Trubbish with another peck before Siren let loose another Disarming Voice. The Trubbish continued to assault Murkrow, and it fainted to two more pounds, but not before Murkrow was able to wound the first Trubbish with a pursuit; Siren then unleashed another disarming voice, and almost KO'd the first Trubbish, while knocking the second Trubbish to below half health. Ren sent out his ace, Froakie, next, and together Siren and Froakie were able to end the two Trubbish with a Bubble/Disarming Voice combo (though Froakie was poisoned by a Trubbish before it fainted)!

Up next came the main event: the Shiny Garbodor! It sent up toxic spikes while Siren lowered its attack with a Baby-Doll Eyes, and Froakie managed to paralyze it with a lick! Froakie and Siren then teamed up again to dent the Garbodor with another Bubble/Disarming Voice combo while it set up more spikes, followed by another lick and another Disarming Voice; however, the Garbodor finally decided to go on the offensive, and unleashed a pound that left Siren in the red. Sadly, while Siren was able to deal devastating damage with a third Bubble/Disarming Voice combo, she fainted to another pound, leading to Pixie coming out. It didn't really matter, though, since the Garbodor fainted to a single quick attack from Froakie, ending the fight! With the Garbodor down and the power restored, it's time to finally escort Melia to Goldenwood Forest... but first, a little detour...

  9. Well, I'm kinda mixed, like everyone here. I kinda wanted a sequel, like Black 2/White 2, and I wish we had more information. However, it's kinda cool to see Necrozma getting some love, and the Necrozma/Solgaleo and Necrozma/Lunala fusions look pretty cool. I'll probably get the games, but I'll have to wait and see new news to get a concrete opinion.

Okay, fair point. I'll replace it with Snubbull. Also, I'll be hacking myself in two Link Hearts (but nothing else) so I can use Aromatisse and Slurpuff, as I have no idea where Link Hearts are located now.

    Anyhoo...

Part 1: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Well, the fight against Amanda was actually pretty underwhelming. All her Litten was able to do was use Growl once, and Siren was able to KO it with two water guns!

The fight against Ren was a little more interesting, but still easy. Siren and his Froakie traded Pound attacks until Froakie was low on health, so Ren had Froakie use growl in order to weaken Siren; while this let the Froakie survive the next pound, Siren was still able to KO it with a single water gun as a finisher! With that, it's time to get out there and explore Gearen City!

When you enter the locked door behind the surf-only area, there's a lens. You have to have a Pokemon in your party use a light-based move like Flash, Dazzling Gleam, or Moonlight to light up the lens, which will open a locked door.

+ Outstanding Attack and Speed stats make Lycanroc a great cleaner for breaking through weakened teams.

+ Perhaps its biggest asset is Accelrock, its exclusive move that has +1 priority and can snipe Rock-weak Pokemon such as the 'mons on Angie or Amber's teams.

+ Its speed makes it a reliable setter of Stealth Rock, as it can get them up before the opponent can take it out.

+ Its movepool is shallow, but has more or less everything it needs: Accelrock, Stone Edge, Crunch, and Stealth Rock.

+ It also gets Rock Climb, so I guess that's useful if you need a user of the move.

    - However, it has few ways to muscle past Steel-types, so those are incredibly problematic.

    - Its defenses are like wet tissue paper and it has common weaknesses, so it can't really take a hit.

    - Its abilities range from useless to meh: Keen Eye is kinda pointless, Sand Rush is cool but Lycanroc has poor synergy with Gigalith (the only available Sand Setter), and Steadfast almost never sees use.

    - Struggles to be useful around the time it evolves from Rockruff, as it can't help much against either Keta battle.

    Talonflame Talonflame (Lord_Chespin, A)

    Spoiler

+ Available very early on, with Fletchling available before Venam and Talonflame itself available around Narcissa.

+ Great speed stat and high-powered STAB moves in Brave Bird and Flare Blitz help it to hit hard and fast.

+ Decent bulk, access to Roost, and a great defensive typing let it take a few hits when it needs to, and Flame Body helps to spread burns to cripple physical attackers

    - Gale Wings was nerfed hard, with it only activating at full health; as such, Talonflame's not as great at revenge killing as it was in Gen 6.

    - It has a stark naked movepool, with the best moves only available through tutoring and no good Physical STAB move until Acrobatics at Level 44

    - Kind of outclassed by Mandibuzz, which is bulkier, Staraptor and Dodrio, which hit harder, and Crobat, which is faster and slightly bulkier; however, Talonflame is available before all of them

  14. Spoiler

After beating the Litwick Sidequest in Amethyst Cave, there's a grave you can dig into using the move Dig. If you use the ladder in the hole you make, then you can enter it and get the Shadow Ball TM.
