  1. What if I told you that I wasn't' the champion of CoM

Oh, it's the scientist, isn't it? OK, no biggie. I didn't save, so all I gotta do is defeat you again (fun boss battle, it was amazing) then fight the science guy. Only reason I didn't is because I thought I was outside the CoM and was done.

  2. So just I understand:

CoM is it's own thing, and it's just kinda like the post game, while Hardcore is just...Reborn Hardcore. Like, CoM doesn't have any of the main game in it?

Also, in CoM. can I use a team from vanilla Reborn, or do I have to use a team from Hardcore?

  3. I really love Budew's line but they suffer from having crap STAB moves since Energy Ball and Sludge Bomb TMs aren't in the game yet.

I'm going to take this opportunity to promote my beloved (ᓂ︿ ᓀ ) Swadloon (ᓂ︿ ᓀ ) line. Leavanny has excellent STAB in the form of Leaf Blade and X-Scissor and fairly wide coverage including Shadow Claw and Poison Jab (which also isn't in the game yet). You can put Sticky Web on it if you prefer the more supportive kind and also breed Agility and Baton Pass on it. It also learns Swords Dance.

Otherwise you might consider building Roserade as a stall-ish type with Toxic/Leech Seed/Synthesis/etcetera.

If you want a Stealth Rock-er, you could pick up Onix->Steelix. I bred Heavy Slam on it and put EV into SpD and HP. It's incredibly tanky.

I run Thunder Wave/Confuse Ray/Electro Ball/Power Gem on my Ampharos because I usually Thunder Wave anything it's up against first. Electro Ball has a minimum power of 60. So you could take that into consideration.

Clefairy is probably more useful in the competitive sense because of how often hazards and statuses are used in competitive battling. So Magic Bounce and Unaware might not be very useful here..

I love Vanilluxe but it has quite possibly the worst movepool aside from Klinklang.

Drapion is pretty ball though. It gets Knock Off and everyone and their grandma carries an item in this game. Cross Poison is pretty solid while we're waiting for Poison Jab. Thunder/Ice/Fire Fang for extra coverage.

Scolipede is allllriiight. Megahorn is really inaccurate though, and no Poison Jab means Poison Tail at 50 power..

I have a Leavenny, but it's typing is what scares me, since it has so many weaknesses. Though it is there, should I need to train up someone else.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hey,

A great mon rarely used in this game is gogoat.

He has a lot of HP, a good attack stat and an awesome movepool.

With the rock and water leaders coming up a grass type for rotation could be usefull.

Keeping in mind future gym leaders, i'm quite sur you'll need a fairy type, with the dragon field effect making ice weaker.

I have a run with 32 mons fully trained if you want to try some of them i can send you the file ^^

I managed to get a Gogoat and am slowly EV training it, but it should replace Chesnaught as my Grass-type. The save file won't be needed, but I appreciate it!

In my main run I have around 40 shiny pokemons fully trained, including some you mentionned.

From what I've seen, Lapras wasn't very good. It has access to good stab moves and is pretty bulky, but it doesn't hit hard enough to kill a pokemon with a single hit, or even two (I think it could hardly kill the Goodra of one of the Grand Hall's trainer with an ice beam at the same level) and isn't bulky enough to stay long in the battle since it lacks boosts or health recovery (maybe with a rest-talk set, I haven't tried). It was a pain to train, I had to use the Exp share until lvl 70 or something like that.

Liligant instead was better than expected. Well placed, it can easily set up with Quiver Dance then heal with Synthesis and/or Giga Drain. At level 50 or maybe even less, it was able to easily destroy a lvl 60 Charizard with Petal Dance. I used the Swampert before to set up at the max but still. It lacks type coverage, but when you can hit with a 130 BP stabbed move at +3-4 SpA while tanking with an also heavily boosted SpD, who cares ? And just think about that monster in the new flower field ! Also if you like troll you can also use Butterfree the same way. Not as good but it's quite fun to wreck powerful teams with the small butterfly x)

Clefairy is quite good too, though I don't remember using it outside of Showdown. Magic Guard plus Cosmic Power / Soft Boiled / Lucky Chant / Stored Power can stall anything while hitting rather hard when at 6 Cosmic Power (260 BP for Stored Power). Lucky Chant is rarely used but from my experience, you can't take the time to fully set up without taking at least one critical hit that bypasses your boosts. Maybe you can also try with Calm Mind instead of Cosmic Power for more power though you're vulnerable physically. I should really train a Clefairy in Reborn...

I trained a Drapion too. I think its set uses Night Slash and Cross poison combined with a hold Scope Lens and Sniper, so that it has 50% chance to land a critical hit dealing 2.25 times more damage while ignoring its debuffs and the opponents boosts. Too bad is doesn't learn Focus Energy but it's still rather good.

I use Lapras mainly for either tanking blows (go go Shell Armor) and Perish Song. Offense isn't what I need from it, since I have so many other mons that can hit hard.

I do love Lilligant, but if my moves on my teams are any indication, I prefer coverage before stat buffs, and on top of that, she's only good at one thing. Yeah when she Quiver Dances she hits like a sack of bricks but...eh.

Drapion will be solid once get Knock Off on it. Cross Poison/Knock Off/Toxic Spikes/Thunder Fang should be solid.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestions. Here's what is going on the Rotation.

    Drapion

    Gogoat

    Gardevoir

    Wobbufett

    Rhypherior

Also am gonna do...something with my Eevee, not sure which.

Once again, thanks for the help!

  4. I definitely want 2-3 on the rotation, and I can actually EV train them. so there's that. Here's what's in my 'possible recruit' box. Out of all of them, here are the one's I'm debating.

Eevee: In terms of possible Eeveelutions, the only one I really feel strongly about is Sylveon, but...meh, I never really got into it. But Reborn's made me like a lot of Pokemon I didn't before, so maybe Sylveon can get a second chance. Though I have no idea how to evolve it.

Togetic: I got it from my Mystery Egg and evolved it, but it's at Level 2. Also, I'd need to get a Shiny Stone for it, and I'm running out of places to mine for it.

Budew/Petitl: Both serve the same purpose to me, as I do want a grass type to take over Chesnaught (who honestly I don't like), but both have problems. Budew requires both a happiness evo and a shiny stone, and again, don't have a lot of places for those left. Also, I don't have access to Sludge Bomb. Petitl I already know I can give it the moves I would want, but it suffers from only doing one thing (Own Tempo+Quiver Dance+Petal Dance), and Roserade would at least have access to Toxic Spikes and some versatilty.

Gigalith: Really, what's stopping me is the fact that it has a shallow movepool as it is. That doesn't mean I don't want it, as it has access to Stealth Rocks, and he did save my ass from Ciel. I just want something else on it other than Stone Edge.

Ampharos: Would need EV training, and I want Thunderbolt on it. Rain Dance is an option, since I do have some Pokemon who benefit from the rain.

Wynaut: I've taken a Wobbufett to the Hall of Fame in other games before, I can do it again.

Clefairy: Magic Bounce and wide movepool, but I honestly don't know what all it's capable of.

    Any advice there?

    post-47536-0-18978200-1472366681_thumb.png

  5. I'm more looking for general advice. Like, I like my team, and it's solid as can be, but I don't want to think I've ignored a base or type that can destroy me. Criticism as well, because this is Reborn and this team was made because the next episode...worries me, if Ciel is any indication on how hard it's gonna be.

  6. So I beat Ciel awhile ago, and decided to go on and rework the team more to my taste and doing the EV training thing. I dropped my Ampharos, Meowstic, and Chesnaught in favor of Metagross, Porygon-Z, and Lapras, and I just wanted to see if the team needed some more bases covered, or if the team was solid. All Pokemon are Level 75. So in order:

Breakdown the Scrafty (EVed in HP and Attack with 4 in Speed)

    Wide Lens

    Relaxed

    Moxie

    -High Jump Kick

    -Crunch

    -Dragon Dance

    -Thunderpunch

Paintrain the Nidoking (EV in Attack and Sp Attack, 4 in Speed)

    Scope Lens

    Docile

    Sheer Force

    -Surf

    -Earth Power

    -Sludge Wave

    -Megahorn

Puppy the Arcanine (EVed in Attack and Speed, 4 in HP)

    Charcoal

    Naughty

    Flash Fire

    -Crunch

    -Outrage

    -Flare Blitz

    -Close Combat

Cactus Jack the Metagross (EVed in Attack and HP, 4 in Speed)

    Metal Coat

    Hardy

    Clear Body

    -Hammer Arm

    -Bullet Punch

    -Zen Headbutt

    -Agility

Glitch the Porygon-Z (EVed in Sp, Attack and Speed, 4 in HP)

    Silk Scarf

    Modest

    Adaptabilty

    -Discharge

    -Tri Attack

    -Agility

    -Hyper Beam

Siren the Lapras (EVed in HP and Sp. Attack, 4 in Defense)

    Icicle Plate

    Bold

    Shell Armor

    -Surf

    -Ice Beam

    -Perish Song

    -Safeguard

Props if you get the Metagross nickname.

    Thanks so much!

  7. I don't recall all I did, but I do remember training up a Gigalith from a Boldore to use Stealth Rocks and get some early damage off. Beyond that, Ampharos used Electric Terrain to change the field and spammed Thunder until Gliscor, which was -to me at least- her most annoying Pokemon since that can wall and heal with Poison Heal. Mega Altaria I got lucky with Nidoking surviving a Earthquake and KOing it with a Sludge Wave.

    Hopeflly that gives ideas.

  8. Honestly, I wouldn't want to. Igglybuff just wouldn't be worth replacing as my starter, even if it was tailor made for me. Plus, Wigglytuff really shines because it's versatile, but that only applies to when I have solid TM's. Also, I have better things to use a Moon Stone on (Nidorino, mainly).

  9. Igglybuff, Scatterbug or Happiny

...don't suppose I can get a do over?

Well, let's see. All the pokemon are all obtainable, so all choices are legit. However, realistically, none of the options appeal to me.

Igglybuff can become a Wigglytuff, which, while having a bunch of HP and a solid movepool, I can simply get the event version that can spawn an egg move, and therefore have it be superior to when it would be a starter.

Happiny...no. I know Blissey is really good, and can eat up attacks like no ones business, but I don't even know where the Oval Stone is, and even then, unless it was early, I wold be stuck as it's baby form for far long than I care for.

That leaves Scatterbug who I least know how to use, and at least would be a fully evolved Pokemon before the first gym and could be solid if it survives long enough to get it's better attacks.

Ultimately, I'd go Scatterbug, but only because my other options are just bad by comparison.

  10. I remember back when Aya was a legit pain in the ass to fight, and I thought during my Episode 15 run, she would still be difficult. However, what I didn't have my first time around was a Nidoking with Earth Power+Sheer Force.

I legit think he could have soloed this gym, since the only one who didn't die was Gengar. but then my lovely Scrafty came in and just Crunched the bastard.

I'd have to think harder for glorious moments, but just seeing Nidoking utterly mangle her team after all the stress I suffered earlier was just...theraputic. (Don't worry Aya I still love you)

  11. I haven't played since...13, I think, and am now going through the game once more and yeah, I can definitely notice the nerf. I came up against Florina, dreading the boss battle because GOD I remember her Cradily oh god I don't wanna even think about how much that thing will destroy me-oh Toxic Spikes and Nidoking save the day? Huh.

Oh man, though the battle with Corey with the corrsive mist oh boy that stress induced gastritis coming in-Ampharos+Electric Terrain to turn off the mist/ruin Corey's strategy. Cool.

Aya...took her out on the first try with a three man team of Meowstic, Scrafty, and Nidoking, the latter of which has Earth Power, which mean the Wasteland doesn't effect it.

Now that's not to say I don't feel the tension in almost every other battle (Noel and that Ice Leader come to mind for me) but I remember when a lot of the enemies had ridiculous movesets, and to say nothing of Team Meteor's Admins.

Honestly, the battles are nerfed overall, and your mileage may vary whether that's a good or bad thing (personally, if I want the game harder, there's always Hardcore). Me speaking, I don't mind the nerfing, because it still is tough as nails frequently.

  12. I already have Cheat Engine, but that's just to speed things along such as grinding. But alright, I'll give it a shot.

So far, I'm grinding up Tina the Meditite, and...if she's gonna be a mainstay, I feel she needs a physical Psychic attack, and the only one I think of is Psycho Cut, which means I gotta get an Abra, grind it up to learn Psycho Cut, then breed. Fun.

Outside of that, I probably will go through and get the mining kit since I can't recall where the mountain is where I can get a fire stone.

Only thing I'm concerned with is getting Heart Scales for the relearner and the Department Store. I onyl have 2 stickers, am I supposed to have more?

    Thank you.

  13. Probably train that meditite to replace girafraig because you might need a fighting type to take on a certain douche. Psychic for the upcoming gym leader. Yeah replace iron defense with drill run. But without gira, teach feraligatr shadow claw to help the situation of have both ghost counter and physical moves. Do you have a fire stone at hand because growhilte might help to replace pyroar. At this point of the game, pyroar is weak because the remaining gyms have something to counter fire types badly. But arcaine with outrage, flare blitz, crunch and heat wave will cause some havoc.

I think Meditite will work out, as she'll cover my niche I need. I lack a Fire Stone because I don't know where to get them, and I don't know how to get heart stones to make my team REALLY strong.

But Zen is leaving for Tina the Meditite. Also got the Dive TM and gave it to Johnny so he could ACTUALLY hit something with a good attack! Also, again, don't know where Shadow Claw is.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see you post, Etesian! In regards to breeding...I can do that, but that just makes things tedious. I ain't the world's biggest fan of breeding, but DDance on Feraligatr is really solid. I'll give it some thought. I don't know what SD is. Swords Dance? OK, I could replace it with Knock Off...if it didn't mean breeding. It's been so long that I completely forgot how I evolved Arthur.

I was planning to get Cross Poison, but again, I don't know where a lot of items are nor how to get Night Slash. Besides, I can't leave town to go back, and I'm not sure what's ahead.

Everything else is still good, might replace Donphan with Nidoking or Manoswine. Thank you.

    Any other advice?

  14. Alright, so I just got to the Agate Circus, and I'm thinking my team needs an overhaul. Either my team is too frail, only good at one trick, or balanced with no moves to use (FERALIGATR). I wanna start grinding people up to level 62 so they can fight evenly, but I am not in the habit of wasting time. I had to cut a couple members since they got too weak, but other than that, it's been consistent. Here's the main team.

    Johnny the Feraligatr

    Level 57

    Sheer Force

Crunch, Water Gun, Ice Fang, Strength

Honestly, I just want a better water attack. I know he can learn Aqua Tail at level...63? I want him to stay if only because he's my starter.

    Arthur the Escavalier

    Level 57

    Overcoat

Iron Head, X-Scissor, Swords Dance, Iron Defense

I love Escavalier, but I think I need to replace Iron Defense with something. Drill Run?

    Ninja the Drapion

    Level 56

    Sniper

Struggle Bug, Poison Fang, Crunch, Hone Claws

He needs better attacks. Struggle Bug was only taught so I could beat Luna. That, and Fell Stinger wasn't coming in handy.

    Zen the Girafarig

    Level 57

    Sap Sipper

Shadow Ball, Trick Room, Psychic, Nasty Plot

Honestly, I want him gone. He's too frail, his ability is too situational, and he was just meant to fight Radomus with Shadow Ball. That being said, he also has my only Psychic and Ghost attack, so he's hard to replace.

    Decepticon the Donphan

    Level 56

    Sand Veil

Earthquake, Rollout, Giga Impact, Rock Smash

This has been with me for a long time, and I don't wanna retire him. However, his heyday is long gone, and I know it's just a matter of time before I need to replace him with someone better.

    Braveheart the Pyroar

    Level 59

    Moxie

Flamethrower, Work Up, Dark Pulse, Hyper Voice

The ace of the team and my glass cannon. I love her to death, but I know better fire types are out there.

I do have options in the box, but I'm hesistant to bring back my Hariyama. He's strong, but he's slow and that HP doesn't do much if you're still made of paper.

I'll gladly take suggestions. Thank you.

  15. Welcome back to the forums then Captain. Awesome nicknames by the way for the ones you nicknamed yourself.

Anyways, Aya's current filed is the Wasteland field which can boost moves that she is likely to use such as Sludge Wave (which you'll receive by beating her) and nerfing moves that would do Super-Effective damage to her such as Earthquake, Bulldoze, and Magnitude. That being said, you would want to try to use mainly Psychic types, but Ground types can still do some work still :] Other than your Donphan, which is relatively slow, you won't be doing as much Super-Effective damage to her so you may consider reworking your team for this gym.

Mons I would recommend to use would be Gothitelle, Meowstic, Malamar, Graveler, Piloswine, Dugtrio, Seismitoad, Marowak, Whiscash, and Gastrodon. If you need to find out where/what time to find these mons, check these two threads -> Pokemon Location Guide V2 and Reborn EV Training Guide.

Also, if you wanted to know what Aya's team was it is Nidoqueen, Tentacruel, Venusaur, Gengar, Dragalge, and Drapion.

Wow, I've been missing out. Haven't caught have of these pokemon, so... anyways, finally beat her. Got lucky with that godforsaken Dragalge and managed to lower it's health enough to where Nidoqueen KOed it with it's own Sludge Wave. From there, was rather easy. Thank you.

@CaptainMomo there tons of improvements that you can do on the moveset on a few Pokes. I keep saying this over and over again, don't teach your main team HM moves, grab a Bibarel and make it your slave for LIFE. Now let me said a few things:

Raticate: You should had taught it Super Fang. IMO, this is one of the best move this guy learns. You could use this to halve Dragalge HP and them maybe KO it before it could make a move.

Drapion: Have you try to Hone Claws 6 stages and sweep her team with Drapion? IDK what Poke Aya is running but I do know she still have that Dragalge. You should be able to set up Drapion with 6 Hone Claws...

I could recommend Pokes and such but I don't like to do that. I believe your team can destroy her...

    Last thing...

Why does everyone "[Nickname here] the [Name of the Poke here]" do this? is it some reference I'm not aware off?

I've never been a fan of using slaves for HMs. Besides, eventually Raticate will be out of the team, so I can give it all the HMs I'll need.

As for why we do that? Not sure. But I feel it's because we took the time to nickname them, so might as well add them.
