  1. This is something I've been workin on this summer...Work and school though kinda slowed it down so i only have 6 or so chapters done, but here's the first in case any want to read it. A strong gust pulsed through the land, swaying the trees, disturbing the calm waters, and racing across the skies, moving away towards the seas as quickly as it had come. Looking down upon the great, peaceful land of Concordia, one would see a great many regions where many species and beings live together in freedom and harmony. To the south stands the largest of the many regions, a region cut into three pieces, and governed by the great legendary birds Zapados, Articuno, and Moltres. The region is home to a great system of rivers, the Frozen Peaks, the Molten Mountains, and the Magnetic Mines. To the east stands the deep earth region. Covered by mountains and riddled with caves, Groudon quietly governs the land from deep within the earth. To the northeast lies the Deep Forest region, or the Forest of Time, where the governor Celebi protects the forest throughout the passage of history. The north holds the land governed by the eon siblings, Latios and Latias. Great dragon dens and lush green terrain dominate this dragon and psychic filled habitat. To the northwest lies the dual regions of the majestic bird leaders, Ho-Oh and Lugia, who govern from the great skies and the deep ocean currents. Their regions hold great volcanic peaks and heated plains, while countless isles dot the ocean amongst the whirlpools and currents. Within the west stand the great oceans and seas, where Kyogre, the great sea beast, governs from the deep ocean temple. From the skies governs a great and rarely seen leader, the Great Rayquazza, who watches the world from afar. Finally, in the center of it all stood the Great Capital, where the just, fair, and majestic rulers, the line of Mew, kept the land in peaceful harmony. Yet that long worked for peace was faltering as a long forgotten evil once again began to awaken. Soon heroes across the land would have to stand together to save their kingdom, or they will surely hang separately. Welcome to the land of Concordia, a world of Pokémon…. Deep within the great Capital region stood the center of the kingdom itself. There the light forested land turned into a grand fortress of nature. Trees and vines wove together to create the protective walls and keeps, while others created the tall spiraling towers which rose towards the heavens. Within the great fortress dwelt the royal family of Mews who have guided Concordia for all of time. Like every other day, King Mew would work tirelessly from dawn to dusk in order to preserve the peace they all held dear, and prepare his son for the day where he will rule over Concordia. Yet this is unlike any other day. On this day a terrible shock wave was going to shake the kingdom down to its very core. It was a day that might very well tear the kingdom apart forever. On this day the invasion had begun. It happened shortly after the sun had fallen below the horizon. Yet with the night, so too came the attack, and when it struck, it did so without warning, and without mercy. It would easily go down as one of the most brutal days in all of Concordia. Riolu, a young warrior sworn to protect the capital slumped back into the wall, breathing heavily. His friend and partner, Z, a Drowzee, stood next to him, watching, waiting for the next attack to come. They had already fought against wave after wave of invaders, and still they had no idea where the attack was coming from. They still had no idea how the rest of the castle was faring. Still they had no idea how the enemy had thrown the entire palace into chaos. Brey the Breloom, their leader, was a commander in the King’s Royal Guard, and was the only evolved Pokémon of the trio. He was determined to get to the throne room, to meet up with the Royal Guards, and protect the King at all costs. Riolu searched the halls around them, and sighed in relief when he saw nothing there. Somehow the enemy had breached the front gates without even battling. Not only that, but with their abilities to move through walls and disappear into thin air, half the army was in panic. But not them, no they were focused, and they were ready for whatever was going to be thrown at them. Still it had been a long, rough evening, and they were already tiring. Unfortunately the panic had worsened when they realized the attack was coming from all sides, not just the front. The entire palace was under attack and any resistance was quickly surrounded. Their soldiers were trapped, and they could do little to protect the palace let alone themselves. The never ending waves of…well ghosts, made sure that no one would be able to reach their liege. These ghosts haven’t met Brey. Riolu thanked King Mew again and again in his mind for teaching him foresight. Without it, they would be completely at the ghosts’ mercy. Even still, it was nearly impossible to get a clear hit in unless they worked together as a perfect unit. That was their specialty though, and even though they were all getting tired, Brey would never let them admit it. “Come on team,” called Brey, “we need to keep moving. Everyone is doing their best to stall the invaders for us strike teams to retreat to the inner defenses. Once there we can help Entei give these dastards what for. There’s no more time to rest. Z, find us a path!” “We have to fight both ways. To the right there are three more of those things. To the left there is only one but…its strength is beyond my measure,” said Z “We head right then, Riolu lead the way, I’m counting on you to find those ghosts with your foresight,” “Yes sir!” said Riolu running forward down the corridor. Riolu pushed forward, careful not to go too fast, checking every corner, wall, and space for enemies. The last time he overlooked something nearly led to his death. He was lucky Z’s confusion knocked the foe back before the strike fell. Riolu saw the claw before the ghost. He tumbled sideways, and the claw ran into the wall, dissipating into the air. He watched Brey jumping into the air with ease, knowing the commander trusted him to find him a target. Riolu’s eyes glowed red, and a moment before Brey’s Mach Punch fell, he located the first ghost. It didn’t know what hit it. Brey’s fist stuck hard and fast and the ghost crashed into the floor. It began to stand up but not before Brey’s second Mach Punch crushed it against the ground, turning it into nothing but a gaseous corpse. “Riolu!” growled Brey “Already on it!” yelled Riolu rushing the two other ghosts he already identified. He charged forward, his foresight displaying the ghosts for all to see. A dark claw sprouted forward towards his neck, but it didn’t land. It hovered, frozen by Z’s confusion and was thrown into the wall. “Kick its ass!” called Z A second claw rushed towards Riolu, but he somersaulted over it, landing right before the demon. Riolu raised his palm, throwing a Force Palm forward, crushing the ghost against the wall. When he turned Z and Brey had already knocked down the third. “Come on, we have to hurry,” ordered Brey. They had to fight through three more teams of ghosts before they were able to finally arrive within the inner sanctum of the palace, the place where the defenses were strongest. Here the strongest of the strong were prepared to push back the invaders. To send these ghosts back to the hells on which they came. Riolu followed Brey’s lead towards the throne room, ignoring the efforts of the other soldiers who were fighting off the enemy. They needed to speak to the Royal Guardians. The King had to evacuate before it was too late. The throne room doors were closed, but Brey didn’t even bother to knock. He pushed aside the guards and threw open the doors. Inside stood the three Royal Guardians, Entei, Raikou, and Suicune, along with King Mew, the Young Prince Mew, and two dozen elite soldiers of the Royal Guardians Task Force. “BREY!” roared Entei, “Where in the blazing hells have you been!” “Trying to show these demons what for!” said Brey, “but we have a problem,” “No you don’t think,” said Raikou scowling, “We’re being invaded, of course we have a problem!” “This is worse…” “Get back to your post Commander!” threatened Raikou “But sir!” said Riolu, “It’s life or death,” “Commander Brey, control your soldier,” ordered Entei, “Wait,” said Suicune with her serene voice, “let them speak. Speak Riolu,” “Thank you,” Riolu stammered nervously…, “It has to do with their attack patterns. It isn’t random. I know it looks like they’re flying all over the place, but they’re trying to set a net of sorts. Like to trap us in; that’s why they haven’t directly attacked the throne room,” “What he’s trying to say,” continued Z, “Is that the enemy is surrounding and defeating the weaker, unorganized resistances which are scattered in the outer palace. That means when they attack the throne, they can do so with no enemies at their back. They can attack us with full strength. They’re trying to surround the throne room by controlling the outer palace; if they succeed we will all die. They will be able to come at us from all sides, and we will be easily overwhelmed,” “What do you suggest we do?” asked the King in a firm, but genuine voice “First,” said Brey, “We evacuate the King and the Prince. Their safety is of upmost priority. Second, the Royal Guardians themselves take the field. With you three out at the front lines we can both raise moral and push these demons back. If we wait until they attack we won’t get the chance. We have to hit them now before they’re organized. Third, we remove the chain of command from the capital and head to the mountain forts on the border of the eon siblings region,” Everyone was silent and Riolu was waiting for the flurry of objections that he was sure to come. Yet the Royal Guardians just nodded their heads. They too understand the disaster that would come if the throne room were to be surrounded. They had to break away now or be forever lost. “Very well; Entei, take the north corridors, Raikou, the south, and Suicune the east. I will hold the west,” “But sire,” protested all three guardians “No! We have no choice; we must push back these ghosts at all costs. I will not have my people suffer while I turn tail and run. I am a Mew, and I will fight with my people like my ancestors did before me! Commander Brey, I am promoting you and your team to the Royal him to Celebi. Maybe Celebi will know something we have otherwise forgotten. He is the time traveling Pokémon after all,” “Yes sir,” they all barked and a moment later everyone was rushing to fulfill their orders. “Brey wait,” said the King, “I’m sure they’re going to be after my son. If worse comes to worse just stall the enemy, my son knows the way to Celebi’s forest and can teleport from danger if needed. If you are separated don’t give chase, just make your way to the north fortresses. We will need you and your team there,” “You honor us my King,” King Mew grabbed Brey’s chin and raised his head, He did the same with Riolu and Z. “No, it is you who do honor to me. Godspeed, and above all else, stay alive,” and King Mew was gone to do his duty, his eyes filled with the terrible fury of having one’s home ravaged. For a moment Brey smiled. “Come my Prince, we need to move fast. Team, we make our way through to Entei and have him carve us a path. Let’s go!” Riolu led the way again, using his foresight, even here, to keep an eye out for enemy ghosts. A little caution might be able to save all their lives. They passed Raikou gathering troops and saw his single bolt of lightning consume the entire corridor, leaving every enemy with sight of the bolt down and unconscious. It was no wonder they were Royal Guardians. They kept running though, taking no time to admire his prowess, leaving the fighting for the other soldiers. The King had personally entrusted them with the Prince’s safety, and Riolu for one, was not going to fail him. He was a member of the Royal Guardians Task Force, and he was proud of it. He could feel that same pride in his comrades, his friends, whom he’s worked with since recruitment. And with that pride came the grim determination. They could not fail. They would not fail. The sounds of the fighting echoed through the palace halls. The true battle had just begun, and now the Capitals full forces were striking back against the enemy, widening the net just enough for Riolu and the others to slip by. That was the plan at least. When they had finally caught up with Entei they saw his flames bursting through each corridor, no one ghost escaping his blast. “Entei, we need a path,” said Brey “Very well; I can clear this corridor for you, then head to the tower and take the basement cavern to the outside,” “Alright, Riolu follow Entei and then take the lead,” Riolu nodded, letting Entei’s scorching flames burn the nearby ghosts to cinders while leaving a visible wave of heat hanging in the air. It looked like Entei wasn’t even trying. “I leave you here. Protect the prince at all costs…and…well done you three…now MOVE!” Riolu barely heard the Royal Guardian as he was rushing down the tower stairs toward the basement cavern. Waiting for them were three ghosts they had yet to meet. “Z?” “Brey, they’re strong, very strong,” responded Z “Mew, you need to run. Get out of here and get to Celebi. We’ll stall these three for as long as possible. Z doesn’t think there are anymore, so just get going my Prince,” said Brey The young Mew Prince just looked sadly at his three guardians and shook his head no. He didn’t want to be left alone. He was afraid. “I know how you feel my Prince, but you have to be brave; for us, for all the Pokémon fighting for Concordia, for your father. You have to get to Celebi. Just GO!” pleaded Brey The Mew Prince took a moment to look over his guards again, and then in a flash of light, he was gone. “Sssoooo,” hissed one of the ghosts, “You are going to give your lives for the royal brat!” “We are the three Gengar siblings. Tonight you meet your doom!” “We’ll just see about that! Riolu, keep them in your sights,” Riolu followed Brey, rushing towards the three Gengar. Brey jumped into the air, his fists glowing, preparing Mach Punch. Riolu remained low, his palm soaring towards the enemy. The Gengar didn’t even move, but the attacks didn’t land. The Gengar’s were gone. Suddenly a ball of dark energy flew towards Brey, knocking him back into the tower stairs. Another, moving faster than Riolu’s eyes could follow, struck him in the chest, and he was flying through the air, stopped only by the stone walls. He picked himself up, pain shooting through all his muscles. He ignored it and noticed Z’s glowing eyes. Z’s confusion was out, trying to strike all three ghosts simultaneously. Yet Z was struggling. Sweat was trickling down his face and his knees were buckling. A moment later he fell to the ground and another ball of shadow stuck him. The attacks momentarily stopped. “Leave those weaklings, after the Prince!” “Not one more step! Z!” roared Brey running forwards again with Riolu at his side, “Disable them!” Z’s eyes began glowing again, and he struck as fast as he could, guiding psychic energy through the air, thrusting it into the ghosts bodies, wracking their mind with chaos. He had disabled their attacks, if only for a moment. Yet a moment was all Brey needed, and he was already in the air above the first ghost. His Mach Punch sent it flying towards the ground in front of Riolu. As it crashed into the earth Riolu’s Force Palm struck its face sending it barreling into the other two ghosts. Yet the disable broke, and Z fell to the ground exhausted. There was no time for a moment of victory. Three shadow balls were soaring towards Riolu. Brey grabbed his friend and threw him to Z, taking all three himself, sending him into the stone walls yet again. Brey got back up. A faint bit of energy was seeping from one of the Gengar’s and slowing restoring Brey;s wounds. He had fired a leech seed the moment the shadow balls struck him. “Fine, we’ll kill you first!” yelled the first Gengar, “Why do you continue fighting when you know you’re going to die?” “Because,” coughed Brey, “we have faith, in each other, in our people, in our King,” “Because,” whispered Z, “King Mew entrusted us personally to guard his son. Our great leader trusted us to protect his kingdom…” “Because,” roared Riolu, “We are proud members of the Royal Guardians Task Force, protectors of Concordia and…” “We will NEVER break our Kings trust!” yelled all three “…Then come and die…” Riolu: Riolu: Level 18: Serious Nature, Proud of its power.
