Lugruf Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 No idea. The last time I had something similar I had to revert to Windows 8 and install Windows 10 again, but there's probably a less drastic solution. Anstane? Quote
BlueMoonIceCream Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I will never use windows 10 I've only heard bad things so far Lugruf? Quote
Lugruf Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Windows 10 is great. I love it as an operating system. Spine? Quote
Anstane Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Windows 10 was kind of forced upon this laptop after Windows 8 borked. I'm starting to suspect this laptop might be borked altogether... Micky? Quote
Anstane Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I CAN'T because it goes straight from the ASUS logo to the Windows Logo with the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen, then it fades, what looks like a Dos box flashes on screen for .1 second and then...nothing. Just a black screen with the mouse cursor. Even when I put in a Windows 10 Boot Disk (Well, USB drive, but...), nothing happens. Debojit? Quote
Debojit97 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Can't you boot into the USB?Try pressing F12 to get into the BIOS and then change the device to boot from. Anstane? Quote
Anstane Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) ...so that's how you get into the BIOS to get the Boot USB drive to load. Alright, thank you Debojit, now I'm making progress. Micky? EDIT: Nope, all that's changed now is that I get Blue Screened instead of Black Screened. Edited October 31, 2016 by Anstane Quote
Debojit97 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Were you able to use system restore? You can reinstall windows 10. Anstane? Quote
Anstane Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 No, I was not because the damn laptop stops loading before it can get to a System Restore. Debojit? Quote
Debojit97 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) Okay I found this in a forum. You can try. http://www.tenforums.com/general-support/10457-fix-windows-10-booting-black-screen.html firstly wait long enough so the mouse cursor to appear when you move the mouse. (blank screen with a white mouse cursor) Then press the space-bar and enter your login password or pin (yes your doing this blind) You should now be logged into windows if the desktop dose not appear after 30 seconds then press Win+P keys, down arrow keys twice, and enter to extend display. Spineblade Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Oh, don't know. Perhaps I'd want to get some use out of the Veterans status. Or maybe I'll be poor. Anstane? Quote
Anstane Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 It's your choice. First of all, we actually have to get to Veteran status. Micky? Quote
