Passing Moves down

So I've been trying to breed a houndour with dark pulse. The father is Auriol (has Dark Pulse) and the mother is a female houndour, but Dark Pulse isn't being passed down. Why?

Houndour cannot learn Dark Pulse by breeding; Dark Pulse is not an egg move for Houndour. Ergo, houndour cannot be bred to have Dark Pulse unless both the mother and father know the move already.

I object highly to that statement. It's on my main team, and I have to say that Foul Play packs quite the punch in and of itself. Besides, its Attack is only somewhat worse than its Special Attack (90 vs 110). The inability to learn Dark Pulse by breeding does not make it a worthless Pokemon.

Houndour is one of my top favorites (my favorite gen 2), and it sucks for it to not have D Pulse

If Dark Pulse is a TM it should be able to be passed down- was its TM status changed recently? If so, then no, you can't get it like that

I was annoyed when they took away the Dark Pulse TM in Gen 5

What sucked about Gen 5 was that the only way you could get Dark Pulse on Hydreigon, you had to transfer in something like an Ekans that was taught Dark Pulse from the TM in like HGSS. It's a real bummer Sp.Atk Dark pokemon are just as hard to get the right moves in this game too.
