When battling Techie Will in the Grand Hall, my level 88 Alakazam got knocked out by a single Heat Wave from Charizard. I thought this was weird because in the previous few battles, my Alakazam had survived with around 80 HP left, and I didn't recall seeing a critical hit. At first I thought maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but then the same thing happened again. When I ran it through the Smogon damage calculator, I saw the Heat Wave shouldn't have oneshotted it, even though my Alakazam doesn't have perfect SpD IVs and even with a Modest nature.
