If you have the community release this patch will fix it for ya in that release though in theory all ya have to do is move the current public scripts file somewhere memorable, use this patch to get past the bugged part of the story then put the original script file back, since the public release is mostly bug fixes it shouldn't be too much of a problem to swap the two scripts temporarily:

I keep getting this error message after defeating fern's first pokemon in his battle in the Byxbysion Wasteland. Is there a way to get this fixed because the battle won't progress for me.
