  1. Sorry for not making a super useful post, but I just wanted to say that I really like this game so far! I just beat the second gym leader, I'm doing a blind mono-dark run, and it's like everything a game like this should be. Difficult, good characters and story (so far, but I doubt it'll fail me there), and you get access to some cool pokemon early on. It's hard not to break my mono-dark rules, because I keep seeing these cool unique pokemon that I don't get to use too often.

I was REALLY struggling to beat the second gym, it's a flying gym, and her entire team is level 30 fully evolved flying pokemon, and so I went and did some quests, which didn't really help, but were fun, and ultimately I swept her with Nasty Plot Unburden Oran Berry Thievul and Hidden Power Rock, and the fact that, using a good type for my mono-type team, I had to resort to that kind of bonkers strategy against a type that I don't even have a disadvantage against, I can tell that this will be a fun challenge. The start is a bit slow, but I highly recommend giving this game a shot, if you were on the fence.

I guess I'll keep this post updated as I play through the game, but yeah, it's great. It's like a slightly more user friendly version of Rejuvenation, so if you liked Rejuv. but got lost constantly (like me), you should enjoy this game. The plot looks like it'll get a lot more weird and philosophical then I was expecting, but I dig it.

Oooh I forgot burmy evolves so quickly, but I had no idea it learned Quiver dance on evolution now, that's insane haha. Though it feels like logically you'd get trash cloak from the alleys but I'm not going to ruin that by suggesting it to ame.<_<

Bizarrely enough, after the city is fixed, the alleys gave trash cloak. I EV trained on a different savefile, and I had to go to Apophyll to get sand cloak. Tanzan mountain didn't give sand cloak either, it's pretty wonky, but who really cares enough to patch Burmy? Mothim is 10x better than any Wormadam, and cloak doesn't matter to Mothim.

One thing I dislike about ground mono is how they hit each other in doubles a lot. You have some great mons for sure(plus some real powerhouses) but   magnitude, bulldoze, and earthquake hit the ally too  so you're oftentimes hurting yourself  in doubles. Also they're sloowwww.  There are a lot of fun ones though. Also in the beginning you're pretty limited, there's like a grand total of 2 pokemon before pulse tangrowth?  One which might not even show up(numel), one which requires headbutt(burmy), nincada I think maybe but like why even bother and  your starter? Ah wait there's the onix too, forgot about him.

Guess it's not so bad. I'd take turwig over mudkip though since mudkip gets wrecked by tangrowth/flobot, making your rough start even rougher. Though I suppose julia's oricorio would be tough to deal with using turtwig.

I swept the first hard battles with that Quiver Dance Wormadam. Fun Fact: all cloaks of  Wormadam evolve at level 20, immediately learns QD (so does Mothim), and you get get Sand Cloak Burmy from the alleys in Peridot. Low Key Wormadam sand cloak is a secret carry for the Julia fight. Only if you aren't screwed over by the hidden power you have. But Sand Wormy has like ~100 base defence and low SpDef, SpAtk, and Speed, so QD turns it into a very bulky mildly fast threat. Also Fun fact: Wormadam is female only (Madam) and Mothim is male only (Him), and I have no clue how to pronounce their names. Wer-madam? Mot-him? Irre-levant? Anyways, if you ever play Memeborn, remember the Glory of sandy cloak Wormadam.

OH! ALSO! when I need to do double battles I keep Torterra or Mudsdale on the field, both can take my own EQs for days, Mudsdale gets insanely bulky (especially because I transfered over an Assault Vest like a dirty cheater) EV spread for Equporto 252 HP, 100 SpDef 156 Atk. Homie drank a Hydro Pump from Blake's Starmie.

Since you'rea at Devon, would recommed you to get Seismitoad or Quaqsire, with your current team, Amaria will become she-devil against you. Not to mention she uses Ludicolo, Gliscor would be useful too. And finally, Claydol with Trick Room, as your team can be outspeed easily, Trick Room will help you to decimate your opponents with brute force.

You didn't ask for some suggestions, but I though it could be of help. Sorry if you don't want it.

Thanks for the input! My current plan is to Rock Polish with Torterra (once I finally get that TM) and spam Razor Leaf. I actually have a Quagsire as well, but I used a Quagsire (and Space frog) a ton in my monowater playthrough. I'll resort to those kind of shenanigans if I lose too much with these friends.

  5. Spoiler

I'm at the Devon HQ on my mono ground team, and because my ENTIRE TEAM is immune to Electric types, I'm having a great time! I did a mono water type run, and this part was hell on Earth. I highly encourage you all do a mono ground run through

    Pros

-Get to start with the coolest starters, Mudkip or Turtwig

-You get to experience the joy of using a Quiver Dance Wormadam, getting to +6 SpAtk, and three hitting a Plusle with HP Steel (highly recommend this)

    -This Puzzle is ez pz

-The perverse satisfaction of using a Sand Force Dugtrio just to Memento

    Cons

-My Steelix doesn't know Earthquake, but everything else does

-Mudsdale is now one of my top 5 favorite pokemon

    -Every pokemon is bulky

-The Pulse Swalot fight was miserable, I had to Memento it to -6, then PP stall it with my Steelix

  6. Spoiler

Why are there so many Alolan Vulpix in this room? I'm very frightened. Help these poor children, 1 dollar a day= 1 Ice stone for a lonely sad Vulpix.

Anyways, when was this added? I'm legitimately worried. Is this how they keep the office cool? Is that Pokemon abuse? If it's a hidden room, does anyone feed them? Is Ame a crazy fox lady? Is this normal activity? We'll never know.

HE'S LOOOSE! HE'S LOOOSE! What horror have I unleashed upon this world?

Just kind of memeing around. Sorry.

  7. So, as the title says, I'm doing a monotype run of Reborn. I also thought about why my character would be only using one type. The in universe answer that makes the most sense, is that they wanted to be a gym leader. So I also decided that they probably went to Reborn to train to become a gym leader in their home region, because why not? But then I remembered something strange about Reborn's gym leaders, specifically relating to Noel, the normal type leader. They mention that his Clefable is a "wildcard", and that's why he's allowed to use a fairy type. Later in the game Florina battles with you, and she uses a Hippowdon, which I assume is her wildcard. So, do you think my Monotype run should allow me to use a wildcard? I think if I do use one, I'll restrict it to being water-y, as I'm doing a mono water run. I'll probably use a Goomy, since I haven't seen any important trainers using one, I think it can be a good fit. I've basically already decided to use a wildcard, I just wanted to know your opinion on it.

If it worked, you should only need to backtrack.

    Spoiler

If it is working, I don't get it. I've been everywhere on the map. Hopefully Gyazos are okay with the site.

EDIT: The screenshots are just a picture of my blastoise, and a picture of the text when I press start on the pokeball. So, assuming it worked, where exactly do I go? Any chance you can describe it? Thanks a bunch by the way, I'm frankly worried that the game forgot that I picked Squirtle, or that a mod I used in E17 goofed everything up.

Was squirtle the starter you chose in the beginning?  It specifically has to be the original starter you chose.

    Spoiler

Yes. I have Blastoise on my team. Even so, I pressed space on every starter in case. What exactly happens? Do I teleport away, or does something open up. Does the text change?

  10. Spoiler

I'm the ??? Realm-dreamscape-place, or whatever, and I'm very lost. Is there an HM I'm supposed to have? I'm at the big starter desks, and every time I press on them it says "There's no will to fight!" is this a puzzle? There is no feedback from any of my actions. I read the dialogue, but had to go help my mom with something, and forgot what they said, so maybe that's where I went wrong. Please help O Wise Reborn Forum. Also, sorry if you accidentally spoiled yourself, I tried to be vague-r.

  11. I spent an hour or two to breed up a decent Togedemaru, because I've never used one, and I'm fighting some dude who has a lot of fairy pokemon. So I check it's moveset and see that it doesn't naturally learn a steel move, no biggie I'm the shard lord, I'll teach him Iron Tail, because Iron Head is trapped behind a shard-sink that even a shard lord can't afford. So I go to the guy who's at the awful circus, and I can't teach my Togedemaru (Thirsty) Iron Tail. Serebii says that she learns Iron Tail by tutor, all logic makes me certain she learns iron tail. So I made this account to vent my frustration. This isn't a bug per-se, but if anyone who is on the Reborn team sees this, help my homie Thirsty out, let her learn Iron Tail. Anyways, I'm gonna spend a few years grinding shards, bye.

    Thanks
