  1. geez, where was this report yesterday when I literally spent the whole day trying to figure out how to implement something similar for another mon???  (I'm really not good at coding, so getting it to work took me much longer than it should have)

but yeah, now that I'm looking at it, there's no problem with the code for Meloetta changing forms when it uses Relic Song:  the code literally just isn't there

EDIT:  I've been testing it for hours now, and I think there's also something wrong with Relic Song so that it never even hits.  More testing would need to be done with the unmodified script than what I have done, though, because I've been tinkering with the script trying to fix it

while the pictures of the four scenarios are helpful, that's not quite what I meant.  I guess I wasn't very clear with my wording.  my question was if for each of those four scenarios, have you also tried leading with Groudon instead and having Kyogre second?

  3. Just to try to get more details, have you tried it both sun to rain, and rain to sun?  Air Lock was probably just an oversight.

And for future reference, it would probably be easier for everyone if you edit additional information into your initial post so everything is all together.

Hi, yes I'm the guy who made that shiny! Ame originally had it be just a bad .jpeg of the normal shiny, but I threw this at her instead. So she kept it, and here it is!

^ Can confirm (although they were .png files, not .jpeg files).  @Fantastic Mr. Fox is an amazing spriter:

    Spoiler

The sprites on the left are the originals from the community release (version 17.0.2), and the ones on the right are Jasper's from the public release (version 17.1):

I honestly didn't even notice the sprites got redone, since I just copied over my old Battlers folder (I have some custom sprites in there that I wanted to keep, but didn't feel like going through the whole folder to pick them out).  Nice work, Jasper, I'm glad this change got pointed out to me.

Actually, I'm REALLY glad this got pointed out, because until now I had absolutely no idea know that Ame took my advice for fixing regular Silvally-???'s sprites.  Senpai noticed me!  Even if Senpai did alter my design a little...

Now that we're all on the same page about this let's go to the actual easter egg: these ???-type sprites for regular Arceus, shiny Arceus, and regular Silvally are just the same as their respective normal type sprites, but shiny ???-type Silvally actually has its own sprites (773s_9 and 773sb_9) instead just a copy of its base form sprites.

Yeah, but EVERY Silvally form has a custom sprite for its shiny.  It's a Silvally thing, not a ???-type thing.

    Spoiler

Just as an example, this is shiny Silvally-Poison:

Synthetic Seed will actually turn the holder into ??? Type on the Glitch Field.

No idea how that effect interacts with Multitype and RKS System, but maybe somebody with a Shiny Silvally could try it out?

    11 hours ago, walpurgis said:

Apparently whenever you use silvally in the glitch field it becomes ??? type, but it loses that typing when you use it anywhere else. I thought for a few minutes that evolving type:null to silvally in the glitch city of Terra made it ??? type permanently but no :(

Yes, the Synthetic Seed in Glitch Field does make the user ???-type, in addition to raising its Defense and Sp. Defense.  I would assume that this even applies to Multitype, since Arceus can't hold both a Seed and a Plate at the same time.  However, using Silvally in a Glitch Field forces it to be ???-type, overriding any Memory it's holding, and regardless of whether it has a Synthetic Seed.  The logic behind this was that Silvally is a synthetic Pokemon whose type depends on technology, so the Glitch Field causes Silvally itself to glitch out.  The same idea also happens with Silvally in a Holy Field:  Silvally is automatically made to be Dark-type, because Silvally was made with science, and science contradicts religion ("science is evil").

However, in a New World Field, both Silvally AND Arceus will change to a random type (except ???-type) each turn, regardless of held item.

How do I overwrite the original script file?

You don't overwrite it.  In case anything goes wrong, you want to be able to go back to the unmodified version.

Step 1:  Find the original script.  It's called Scripts.rxdata, and it should be saved under Pokemon Reborn\Data\

Step 2:  Rename the original script.  Literally any other name, such as "Scripts1.rxdata," "Scripts original.rxdata," or even "I LOVE AME.rxdata," will be fine, since the game only checks files with the exact names programed in it.  Just make sure the name is something you'll recognize later.

Step 3:  Save the new script as Scripts.rxdata in the same exact folder.  Now the game will read that file instead of the original.

    Spoiler

Scripts.rxdata is the altered script I'm currently using, Scripts1.rxdata is the original script for E17, ScriptsW.rxdata is the original E17 Select Weather mod script, and the other five are previous versions of my altered script:

    image.png.1f75a9701620b80241a9c008ef41b331.png

If you're switching to the Select Weather mod in particular, there's also a Mods\ folder included in the download.  Do NOT change the name of this folder.  This is where the actual changes are stored.  You'll also need to save that folder (as in the folder itself, not just its contents) in the Data\ folder.  Each mod is a separate file within the Mods\ folder, so you can just delete whichever ones you don't want to use (there's a file Readme.pdf included that explains what each mod file does).

    Spoiler

    image.png.5bb5f36d99198493a743aea6e06a000d.png

NOTE:  just like you kept the original script as a backup, it's also generally a good idea to make backup copies of all of the mods (especially if you plan on removing some of them).  You can save the backups literally anywhere EXCEPT the Data\ folder, but I would recommend leaving them somewhere nearby that you'll know where they are.

    Spoiler

I saved mine in the main game folder so I don't lose them

    image.png.725d7cd323ba83b92189944934e956ba.png

After that, you'll all set!  Just boot up the game, and the mods will be ready waiting for you.

As I said, it had Sturdy. It activated earlier in the battle; that's why it was at 1HP in the first place. I wouldn't have mentioned its ability if I wasn't sure what it was.

Sorry, I assumed you were assuming that.  I guess that's what I get for assuming things myself.

I just checked the script though, and you're entirely right:  there's no check for how much HP the Pokemon has.  Sturdy will always leave it with 1 HP when the cave collapses, regardless of whether it was at full health.

  7. From the E15 Field Notes:

    image.thumb.png.f2d0a2de8e3ac387dae0336c9c18df1d.png

If it had Sturdy, it shouldn't have survived unless it had full health.  I'm not sure about Endure though, since Endure really should work regardless of current HP.  However, to me it seems more likely that the Graveler you were facing had Rock Head, in which case it would take no damage from the collapse, and the battle would continue. EDIT: I'm an idiot

I would really like if after you have obtained a shiny the dex let you see the shiny pokemon if you press form,

like in the main series games, so when you have caught a shiny it's in the dex forever even after it evolves :D

Hope this wouldn't be to much work, I mean the sprites are already there ;)

(Ignore this first part, it was before I did some extra research.  I just don't want to erase the evidence completely.)

    Spoiler

The way Reborn currently works (and the way any Essentials game works, really) is that shininess, gender, and form are independent.  More specifically, if I understand correctly, shininess is a boolean (true/false), while forms are actual numbers (i.e. Muk is form 0, A-Muk is form 1, and PULSE Muk is form 2).  Honestly I'm not 100% sure what type of variable gender is, but I'd venture to say it's not boolean, since Pokemon can be male, female, or genderless (more than two options).  My guess would be that there's probably a way to get the Pokedex to show two of each form (one normal, one shiny), since it can already decipher when there are differences between genders and when there are different forms, even though gender and form are stored separately.  The reason I'm hesitant to give a definitive answer is because while there are base Pokemon that have both gender differences and alternate forms (like Venusaur, Rattata, or Raichu), there aren't any Pokemon whose alternate forms also have gender differences (male and female Rattata are different, but male and female A-Rattata are the same) — and yes, I checked to make sure this was a canon thing and not just a mistake with Reborn.

    Spoiler

    image.png.8798819f05a037d563ef779c4cf955e3.png

In theory, the existence of gender differences in alternate forms should have no bearing on whether RMXP is capable of displaying shiny versions of every form.  The issue would stem from whether or not RMXP can check more than one variable at once, since currently it only has to check for form OR gender.  Since I'm not super well-versed with RMXP or coding in Ruby (the language RMXP uses), I can't say with absolute certainty that it would be able to check for either of those AND shininess at the same time.  My intuition tells me that it shouldn't be a problem, but I'm probably not the right person to ask.

TL;DR:  I think it should be doable, but I'm not an expert.

It looks like it should be possible to implement.  The coding currently includes a measure to make sure Pokemon never show up as shiny in the Pokedex (presumably to make guarantee you can still see the non-shiny form).  My guess would be that this could be implemented by getting rid of that one line and then adding a few more lines of code, but as I said above (in the part I said to ignore), I'm not very familiar with the language.  Do you really want to have to scroll through up to 56 different forms of Unown though?

I'm pretty sure Ame has said several times that she has no intention of adding that feature to the game.  So sorry, but it looks like you'll just have to stick with the mod. 😬

  9. To expand on what @Zane0144 and @keltena said, I've seen a lot of talk that all of the branched story lines will ultimately give you more or less the same results in the end.  How you get there might vary, but really I don't envision a final E19 release where one branch has you take down Lin and save the day, while the other has Team Meteor bombing the Pokemon League so you never even get to challenge the Elite Four (very extreme examples, but you get the point).  So for all of the story lines to converge, the paths that had less story thus far will likely have some more story to them than the others in the last two episodes so that they end up in roughly the same place.

    Spoiler

Whereas the Reshiram path in E17 had a lot more plot than the Zekrom path, there's a good chance that the same outcomes will happen in the Zekrom path in either E18 or E19.  I'm thinking that the biggest possible differences between branches (besides Taka, I'll get to him), might have something to do with some characters getting incarcerated vs killed or something like that.  You'll still fight Hardy and Saphira, take down Lin, and beat the Elite Four, and you'll still find the kids, figure out what's going on with Luna, and get some closure with Titania and Amaria (but not necessarily in that order).  You'll still get post-game content, although there IS a chance that the post-game options you get might be different depending on the path you took.  At that point, though, I feel like the content would have to be split evenly between branches (as in, Reshiram path gets some legendaries, Zekrom path gets some, and you have to trade or something for the others — like version exclusive Pokemon), since at that point all of your decisions would be locked in.

As for Taka, I personally have hopes that there will be several possible outcomes for him, depending on your choices from the Water Treatment Center all the way until E19:

    • Battle Taka in the WTC:  no Taka in the desert
      • No choice to make:  Path one (Zekrom path, Z):
        • Possible sub-path Z1
        • Possible sub-path Z2
    • Don't battle Taka in the WTC:  meet Taka in the desert
      • Let Taka join you:  Path two (Reshiram path, R)
        • Possible sub-path R1
        • Possible sub-path R2
      • Ditch Taka:  Path three (alternate Zekrom path, Z')
        • Possible sub-path Z'1
        • Possible sub-path Z'2

It's possible that [Z1 and Z'1] and [Z2 and Z'2] might be the same, or maybe [Z1 and Z'1] are the same but [Z2 and Z'2] are different, or maybe EVERY outcome is different.  It's also possible that some one or more of the three main paths outlined have more than one branch split, or maybe some do not have any splits at all.  And since Taka isn't based on a real-life person, Ame can basically do whatever she wants with him:  maybe in one branch he gets a redemption arc, in another he runs away, in a third he dies, and in a fourth he gets a life sentence in jail.  Maybe we'll even get to see Taka kick Fern's ass in one branch.  The reason I mention Taka separately is because although the Reshiram path heavily focused on him, he's only one character.  All of the paths will converge one way or another, regardless of whether Taka is there to help or hinder the player.

I was going to create some theoretical examples from canon Pokemon games, but I think it would be better to just look back at some of the previous story branches in Reborn itself:

    • If you find all of the police officers in Jasper/Beryl Wards, you expose Corey in front of Heather, and he gets mad and battles you in a Corrosive Mist.  If you don't find all of them, Corey never gets exposed, and he battles you on a regular Corrosive Field.  Either way, we all know what happens next.
    • At the Battle of Tanzan Cove, there are a total of four different results you can get in terms of who gets kidnapped.  Regardless though, eventually Saphira tames the giant Steelix, and you all force Team Meteor to retreat.

Besides some relationship variables increasing or decreasing, and maybe getting a little bit of extra backstory, nothing else really changes by the time the branched stories converge.  Ame could easily do the same with the Taka sub-plot, so that it has more of an effect on our emotions than on the game itself.

In the end, what happens with Taka depends on how much Ame wants to screw with our feelings, and how different she's willing to let the different branches end up by E19.  But I wouldn't worry too much about the story itself; everything will come together one way or another.

  10. the Charmander line is now available by using a Super Rod in the lava crater at the top of Pyrous Mountain.  for whatever reason, Ame decided to make you able to fish in lava.  apparently Super Rods are heatproof

i can confirmed it is fixed in the files. However, when i went to check in game, they looked the same as before, but after 10 seconds they changed to reflect the correct stats, so maybe the game had to play catch up there for a second (it appears correct from then on in, even after reloading the game

yeah, that will happen.  the stats automatically correct themselves whenever they change in-game, but not necessarily just from changing the files.  so if a mon gets its stats changed, you can just use the mon in battle, give it a rare/common candy, give it a vitamin, etc., and it will recalculate the total using the new value.  but I'm glad you were able to get it fixed

(PS:  the same is true for any Dodrio, Farfetch'd, Masquerain, Pelipper, etc. from before they got buffed in gen 7/E17:  just use them in battle so they get some EVs, and their stats will update)

Not to be annoying or something, but actually I was looking for something dealing with the last few episodes and a little more complete and concrete (not to mention more fun to read).

I know, that was meant to be a joke.  I haven't seen any complete walkthrough like that yet, but someone could easily just make a new thread for it without the devs needing to get involved at all

  13. On 1/2/2018 at 3:26 PM, Espeon said:

Well maybe it would be annoying to put it in between episodes in the game itself, but why not put one on here? People who are totally up to date can just ignore it and people like me who forget the entire plot would be able to get up to speed. Believe me, it's really frustrating not to be able to keep up with the story, simply because the story is the best part of Pokémon Reborn.

    enjoy!  😜

  14. while we're at it, maybe that feature from gen 3 games where pressing Select (or Shift for Reborn) in your PC makes the hand yellow instead of white and lets you swap Pokemon faster?  as someone who keeps their PC ridiculously organized, this would save a hell of a lot of time

EDIT:  just to be clear, this is the same feature that also lets you move more than one mon at once, and that's the part that that would be really helpful to me.  idk if that would be hard to implement, but at least the faster swapping would be nice
