Well, ok, I'm fine with this~. I still can't believe my horrendous little
guidediscussion thread is up there with the elites such as "Version 9 Status Thread" and "Where do I go next?" thread. I will humbly accept this honour. and the stressSo my exams are over. Well actually they aren't. There's like 3 papers left, but I have already lost the ability to give a shit so they're pretty much over.
Anyways, I'll be back to updating the guide by this week, I can't give a specific date but hopefully it'll be soon. I'm already working on the next part, just give me some time to catch up on the story.
I'll try and get a chapter up by this week to celebrate my return (=w=), but I just got Pokemon S&M (not that kind of S&M, silly) and I'm focusing on that first. New parts will probably be out quicker after I'm done with that.

Also PROTIP: If you don't have a water starter, take Aquanid (Because Water Bubble combined with mystic water gives you Quotro (multiplicative bonus, Bubble is applied before STAB is calculated) STAB and turns you into an OP god that can oneshot a lvl 100 arceus with a level 25 Aquanid) or a Toxapex, (Because poison spikes + Merciless = GG SON). Both these pokemon have absolutely ridiculous stats if you use their offensive ability well. Can't wait for them to be ported into Reborn in [3 years].
And god damn, Bug monoteams are going to be a LOT stronger after S&M is included. Jeebus those SM bugs are powerful. Between Vikavolt, Goliso "Escavalier 's a bitch" Pod and Aquanuke, along with those amazing UB's, that type sure as hell got some justice done to them.
Btw, what version do you think Ame has bought, folks? I hope its Moon, so she can throw her DS out of the window at supersonic speed when she finds out her beloved Ice + Fairy Ninetails is a Sun exclusive. Aaaahhh, thoughts like that, bring a tear of joy to my eye

I'm pretty sure the only reason Gamejolt was targeted was because people who posted the fangames were getting ad revenue. So unless Ame's drowning in ad money, this site and most of the other sites with Pokemon fangames should be safe.

*not how it actually is in release, but i amused myself in the mean time.
My personal headcanon is that the train bombing at the start of the game threw the protaganist out of the train with quite some force, causing him to hit his/her/xers head damaging the part we use for speech. Luckily, our protaganist has actually mastered sign language and uses this to communicate with others. Of course, your animation budget cannot possibly cover for accurate signing sprites so to us it appears as if the protaganist is unable to communicate in any way.

IV's? I doubt it. I've tried to do it with cheat engine but iirc it won't work; not sure whether the variable allows values of this length (iirc all pokemon game values in cheat engine are their base value * 2 + 1, which means the CC value for a max IV is 63. If the variable is assigned as a "byte" type, then 63 is the maximum numerical value it can support)

You say they are real-life characters, so is there some sort of Online League I don't know about? Also, (I could be wrong) Titania is based on a Fairy Tail character Erza. Since you seem interested, I thought I might tell you. I never really liked Torchic's evolution designs, so even if he is the most competitively viable, I probably won't every choose him.
Yeah, i found out about it when reading Chubbs perfectly written guide to reborntm in which he highlighted that Corey was actually a person and that this wasn't just Ame attempting to be edgy.
In about the year 2010, there was this community using this website about a online league on some program used to have pokemon battles with people over the internet on your PC. It was called the Reborn League because Ame first had a community but mostly due to her being negligent the community died out, and consequently, was "Reborn". Ame, within this league, created a roster of leaders (and possibly a champion and Elite 4 not completely sure) and reserves which people could challenge and earn badges from. Every single leader (Scrap that can't find logs of Serra, need confirmation on that one) in the game, be it ex leader or current, was once either the main leader or the reserve leader of their respective type in Ame's Reborn League.
And one day, Ame decided to start the production of this fangame, which, as i said, is basically making a fanfiction of her old community. The characters in the game are either in accordance to their battle persona (like Terra, who actually did spam Rawr Rawr Rawr :3 all the time during battles (trust me i saw the battle logs)), or simply their character of how they behaved within the community. After than, she wrote the story using references to real behind-the-scenes events of the community to create parallells, such as, Kiki's sickness and Corey's suicide. If you wanna find logs of the real Reborn characters, just search on google Pokemon Reborn [leader name] Logs. As you can clearly see there is some role play in their characters, as expected

The reason the name of the lady giving you your starter isn't a reference to some kind of flora is simple: This entire game is basically a complete fanfiction of the Reborn League community designed by the person who was its administrator back in the day, Amethyst (that is her real name too iirc), in short, Ame. She put herself in the game because she managed the league of the past.
Almost all notable characters in the game were characters in real life, and quite a few of the struggles they go through in the game actually parallell the ones they have in real life. Ofc, some character traits got exhagerated for the sake of making more memorable characters. From what i've heard from vets here, these are the parallells.
For example: Cain was real, and he was infamous for cybering with challengers, but he was grounded by his homophobic mom (which is insinuated to be such in the game) and Aya then took over.
Fern and Florinia were both real. Florinia never really had an interest in pokemon but was leader for a while before Fern took over. Fern was actually a complete irredeemable asshole who nobody really like. He pulled really disgusting stunts like DC'ing when he was losing from a challenger and then returning with a counter team and saying he got "internet issues". Florinia then came back and beated him over and over, constantly forfeiting her badge again and coming back with a new team. Nobody really knows why she did it.
Heather, Corey, Blake and Cal were real. Corey actually was the father of Heather and he actually did commit suicide, so this wasn't Ame being edgy or dramatic. This mimicked real life. If what i've heard was true, Blake actually did adopt Heather and then Ame tried to keep her as a leader of the League to prevent her from isolating herself too much. Eventually Heather quited the league, and Blake stopped when she did, and Cal stopped when he did. Blake was however more of a "casual ironic douche" instead of the schoolyard bully Reborn portrays him as, other than Fern who was actually an irredeemable douche.
Kiki was real, and did actually have to quit the league due to a disease.
I believe the entire orphan family existed too, but i haven't found conclusive proof, and so did Sigmund (I believe he was the electric leader of the league after Julias PC exploded), who actually did experiment with ECT, and there were actually questions about whether he was breaching ethical standards. Ofc, sigmund has been dramatized because everyone hated the character the moment he was introduced.
Shade was also the actual Ghost leader. He might or might not have been a supernatural entity. All we know is that he hardly ever said anything other than cryptic poems about other leaders.
Amaria existed too, and she had amnesia, a fact reflected after she got rescued in-game.
I don't know whether Bennett and his obsession with Luna was real but at this point i don't wanna know.Apperantly Radomus did exist so thats a winSo yeah, its basically an extremely well made fanfic, and its truly shocking how many paralells to real life there are.
I am new to Pokemon Reborn, but I am glad to a part of it.

Torchic is king. Especially in Reborn. Where you have speedboost as your hidden ability. 2 turns in and you go through the sound barrier. -

You know, at one time i actually was near the ladder, but i saw the near dead grunt and was like "Ooh, imma check this out. I can handle this!" and turned back.

My apologies but I have issues seeing what you are trying to say with that first sentence.
And its simple, if you drasticly lower Rare Candy prices, it would make it easier to bring up lower leveled pokemon. In concert with repeatable trainers it can make any levelling proceed at a pleasant pace

I mean messing with experience at this point would really only affect the endgame levels and not the difficulty imo. Stat inflation is my last resort.
One thing I am considering for hardcore should we hit the difficulty drop to rock bottom is adding an extra restriction for the leader fights. One leader could ban shift, another healing items, and whatever else people can think of. I feel that'd be a bit more welcoming than a leader being 10-20 levels higher than you.
Restrictions could work too; perhaps giving a leader about 3 different sets of near identical pokemon with only level differences and then determine which level set you have to play against based on the highest level on your pokemon team.
Perhaps she can just make Rare Candies a fug of a lot cheaper in New Reborn

And honestly, I'd be much more satisfied to see a "good" character die at this point of the game where some of them have been with us for a while. We barely knew Kiki before she got offed, and the same goes for Corey (if you count him as good). Their deaths were good for shock value, but at the end of the day my reaction was more "holy shit, Solaris killed somebody" than "oh no, Kiki is gone".
Indeed, though i argue that the most important impact of Kiki's death was Cal's internal struggle. It instantly made Cal a more interesting character, because he suddenly wasn't some traitor, but a deeply conflicted individual.
But as Ame said, "saying goodbye' doesn't necessarily means getting snuffed. For example, given the extralegal/illegal activities of the good guy cast, it might happen that one character throws himself under the bus for the rest of the team, like for example someone taking the full blame of the flight from the orphanage. Perhaps Laura getting kicked out of the Elite 4 acts as a prelude for this; perhaps she will say she incited the rest to rebel against Sigmund, orchestrated it all purely to prevent the Protagonist from getting arrested. Due to her being under investigation, Ame was legally obliged to temporarily suspend her until the investigation was concluded.

Radomus: I know that he got arrested at some point (not sure if it's related to the Luna custody issues), but later had his name cleared.
Florinia: IIRC, she wasn't even interested in Pokemon to begin with and was only there because of Julia, Titania, and Amaria. When Fern took over, he would disconnect when he was losing and come back with a different team saying his internet had issues. Florinia eventually came back as a challenger and beat him for the badge. Then she forfeit her badge and kept beating him again and again with different teams. Then she became leader again. Not sure why she left after that.
Blake, Cal: Blake adopted Heather after the Corey incident. Ame and Blake tried to keep Heather on the league because they didn't think it was healthy for her to shut herself off from everything, but she quit. Then Blake quit when she did, and Cal quit when Blake quit.
Cain: got grounded for a long time because his homophobic mom caught him with a boy, then Aya became leader.
Victoria: was only ever supposed to be a temporary leader while Kiki was ill, but it wasn't known at the time Kiki's illness would be as bad as it ended up being.
@NotPabloNerudaForReal: we're talking about the online league, not the game. Reborn is based off of a Pokemon Online league and the game characters are based off real people from that league who were leaders there.

Some more actual advice
Demondos is doable if you bring a decently leveled Voltorb, you can paralyze him because Voltorb speed > Everything else minus deoxys, and if you get lucky and have him be shocked on the first turn you can pull of a spark which will basically leave him begging for mercy. Voltorb is good. It comes with a "Slow Jans Bullshit" function. Remember that because Jan's bullshit is usually very fast.
Never bring Swoobat without Simple. Calm mind will basically carry you halfway through the game
If you want to cheat and instantly introduce lvl 20 pokemon into your party, go back to Route 1 after the goldenwood events. if i recall correctly, one of the exit tiles leads to old goldenwood, with boring lvl 10 pokemon, and one leads to ruined goldenwood, with lvl 20 poochena's, spewpas and all other kinds of goodies for
scrubssmart players.A universal tip for all of
Jans bullshitRejuvenations bossbattles is the suicide squad. The suicide squad is a portion of your team which generally only have health EV's because you only feed them a steady diet of Audino's, and they have 2 things in common: They all have sturdy. they all have explosion or self destruct. 1 is good, 2 is better, 3 is great. If you really want to, you can make one of your Graveler's/Boldore/Gigalith/Golem's from your suicide squad a permanent squad member if you really want a pebble in your team (real talk tho, smack-down and earthquake can be quite handy). The moment you know you have to face off againstJan's BullshitTMa boss, like the Shadow Mewtwo that will come up soon, all you really have to do is send in your conga line of suicide squad members and all have them tank up a single hit before taking one for the team. 3muslim cosplaysvaliant sacrifices later most bosses are either dead, or pretty fucking dead. Shadow Mewtwo only had to face off against a single suicide squad member leaving him in the red but after that he proceded to hyper mode himself into a comaFuck me shadow mode is one helluva drug.It should also be noted that having both a Gigalith and Golem can pretty much trivialize the fire leader of this game which, by the definition of Despair, would normally class as a Demontm leaderAlso, don't forget that stacking punch + Bulk up + speed boost blaziken is a monstrosity that can pretty much tear through an entire team like fucking paper. The custom move "stacking punch" is an abomination that should have never seen the light of day because only a fool would allow Blaziken to get a move that increases in power each use.

Seriously though, if Ame plans to put in some more epic battles, she should put them in a field effect that erases Cheeky Bond and Cheese Song as viable options. Literally any single boss battle can be cheesed with perish song + focus sash

Hello darkness my old friend
I am seriously tempted to throw in that 1$ "I am helping :"D " in as a symbolic degree of assistance.
As someone else mentioned, it feels like a crime to play a game, which has brought me more memories, fun and inspiration than any 50 euro pokemon game nintendo ever coughed up, for free.
I am tempted, truly.
After all, what is 1 euro per month to me? I daily spent that getting a completely unnecessary brownie at school.
It would be my first patreon pledge...
EDIT: Okay i've come around and decided to go for it but i don't have a credit card and my Paypal is a bit screwed on account of my account getting limited, and the page for phone authentication crashing whenever is try to access it
EDIT 2: Paypal finally unfucked my account. Going through the motions to give Ame her extremely cheap and drawn-out christmas gift. Praise be, praise be. The bad news is that the 80 euros i tried to put on it 2 months ago while it was limited (god knows why thats even an option) is permanently gone.
