Would you prefer to do this with your personally trained team? Or would you like some traded mons as help?

Hmm. I wouldn't mind taking a traded one or two, as long as they don't make it completely easy.

Use two PCs, 6 trashmons on each and your 2 savefiles. Then trade Rare Candies from your old save to your new one by trading these 6+6 trashmons back and forth (as Rare Candy carriers). I did this to level up my pokemon for Charlotte, because it would take like 6 hours with Clown Indra...

Sadly, I no longer have access to a second PC, so this won't work for me.

Yeah, grinding is pretty much the worst. Luckily, I think there is a guy you can continuously challenge to battles by the circus. I also think he gives you a lot of money for winning, so you can buy things such as Cotton Candies if necessary. Also, forget about number 3. Just found that out as well.

Yeah I know about the guy there, but unfortunately my team struggles against him. I end up losing 9 times out of 10, costing me a buttload of cash.

Don't worry, I also hate Samson. He's pretty much the worst if you're not prepared! I have three recommendations:

    1) Catch Hawlucha and train it up, as it takes advantage of the field effects and hits back for super effective damage.

    2) Get Gardevoir back in your party for now.

    3) This sounds extremely nuts, but replace one of Braviary's moves with Nature Power if it can learn the move. This is because Nature Power becomes Acrobatics, which is field effect boosted.

    1) Oooh, I didnt even think about that. I'll give it a shot.

    2) Yep, I got it back out after posting this. Its been really tedious grinding it up on wild pokemon though.

    3) That would be super useful, but sadly, Braviary can't learn it. None of my pokemon can, actually.

  5. Hey there. So, I'm on my second playthrough of the game (came back for E16) and I'm at Samson right now. He pretty much bodies my entire team, as I don't have a lot of good bulk, and I'm pretty vulnerable to fighting type.

    Heres what I have:

    PARTY:

    Ampharos: Level 62

    Modest nature

    Plus

    Amplified Rock

    -Thunder

    -Power Gem

    -Signal Beam

    -Electric Terrain

    Braviary: Level 55 (Just caught)

    Rash nature

    Defiant

    -Shadow Claw

    -Brave Bird

    -Crush Claw

    -Sky Drop

Metagross: Level 66 (Traded from old save)

    Bold nature

    Clear Body

    TwistedSpoon

    -Meteor Mash

    -Zen Headbutt

    -Bullet Punch

    -Hammer Arm

    Nidoqueen: Level 63

    Lonely nature

    Poison Point

    -Crunch

    -Iron Tail

    -Earth Power

    Charcoal

    -Flame Burst

    -Shadow Ball

    -Dark Pulse

    -Will-O-Wisp

    -Crabhammer

    -Swords Dance

    -Rock Smash

    BOX:

    Arcanine: Level 60

    Docile nature

    Justified

    Charcoal

    -Crunch

    -Heat Wave

    -Outrage

    -Flare Blitz

Gardevoir: Level 47 (Been boxed since I got Metagross, could be very useful)

    Brave nature

    Telepathy

    No item

    -Calm Mind

    -Magical Leaf

    -Draining Kiss

    -Psychic

Venusaur: Level 48 (Turned it into an HM slave when I stopped using it)

    Calm nature

    Overgrow

    No item

    -Strength

    -Rock Smash

    -Flash

    -Petal Dance

Dewgong: Level 39 (Leveling it for a special attacking water type)

    Bashful nature

    Ice Body

    No item

    -Headbutt

    -Aurora Beam

    -Aqua Jet

    -Ice Shard

So, Gardevoir is the only promising thing I can see. But I'm not sure how to level it. My team struggles against the clown with the repeatable fights, so its not really viable for grinding right now. Any suggestions?

  6. EDIT: Completely forgot about the gym leader help thread. Sorry if this is against the rules. I'll paste this there.

  7. So, I just reached the point where you first go to 7th Street, and for some reason, El is nowhere to be found. I looked up a couple of walkthroughs, and in every video I found, El was there immediately. I defeated Radomus and went through the bit with Team Meteor. Is there an event I missed that caused him not to appear?

Medicham can be great if you can land High Jump Kicks. Medicham can kick Cryogonal and Vanilluxe out of the game easily if those hits land (perhaps even Glaceon if you're lucky). But be aware of her field, since Serra uses it to raise her evasiveness/reduce your evasiveness. Fighting moves are also great against Aurorus, because of the 4x effective.
If your Gigalith has stealth rock, then use this in the beginning of the battle. Since those rocks will hurt Serra pokemon decent.

I'll definitely try that. I just got myself a Meditite from a girl at Apophyll Academy, and it has Bullet Punch, so hopefully that'll be a big help once I level it up! And I'll definitely use that Stealth Rock.

@Buttulon, you could try to use Mamoswine to destroy her field with earthquake at the beginning. But you'll lose some reputation points there with Serra.
Otherwise, i'd suggest swapping Venusaur for Gigalith. Gigalith is rock and thus has an advantage on ice, while Venasaur is weak to it.
Instead of using mamoswine, you could also choose to level up that lampent. Fire is also great against ice, and lampent is a pretty fast guy.
I don't know if this is the best strategy, but you could also use Ampharos to just change the field with electric terrain and make sure Serra isn't going to use her field against you.
I suggest to keep using Camerupt because he has a good advantage with Lava Plume.
And btw, don't you have a fighting type? They can be pretty useful too.

I'll try replacing Venusaur with Gigalith.

I haven't really found a fighting type I'd like to get. But... would a Medicham be a good pick? I think I might be able to get one at this point in the game.

  10. Absolutely stuck on Serra right now. My first time playing through this game, I wrecked her with my Magneton's Flash Cannon, but I'd like to avoid using the exact same strategy this time if possible.

    My team:

    (In Party)

    Camerupt - Level 48

    Timid nature

    Anger Point

    -Lava Plume

    -Earthquake

    -Rock Smash

    -Rock Slide

    Crawdaunt - Level 47

    Naive nature

    Adaptability

    -Razor Shell

    -Swords Dance

    -Knock Off

    -Crunch

    Ampharos - Level 50

    Modest nature

    Plus

    -Discharge

    -Power Gem

    -Charge

    -Electric Terrain

    Gardevoir - Level 47

    Brave nature

    Telepathy

    -Calm Mind

    -Magical Leaf

    -Draining Kiss

    -Psychic

    Venusaur - Level 46

    Calm nature

    Overgrow

-Rock Smash (yeah I know two rock smashers x_x Gotta replace that)

    -Synthesis

    -Sleep Powder

    -Petal Dance

    Mamoswine - Level 47

    Relaxed nature

    Oblivious

    -Earthquake

    -Thrash

    -Ice Shard

    -Ancientpower

    (In PC)

    Lampent - Level 48

    Naughty nature

    Flame Body

    -Flame Burst

    -Hex

    -Confuse Ray

    -Will-O-Wisp

    Dodrio - Level 46

    Jolly nature

    Run Away

    -Agility

    -Fury Attack

    -Pursuit

    -Drill Peck

And I also have a level 54 gigalith lying around that I could common candy down if I thought it'd be at all useful (obtained from a wonder trade) but I don't think it'll help me here.

    Anyone have any advice?

  11. Wow, I am absolutely stuck at Terra... I don't know if she's technically a gym leader, but I figured I'd post this here rather than creating a new topic.... so here's what I've got (I know I need to grind as well).

    Mild nature

    No item

    Infiltrator (can change to Contrary)

    -Switcheroo

    -Psycho Cut

    -Superpower

    -Foul Play

So, I have a lot to work with, I just don't know what to use. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently getting swept by her first 2 pokemon.

EDIT: Never mind. Managed to beat her with a bit of Trick Room play with my Bronzong and Walrein. :D

  12. So I'm training up for the fire type gym, and I'm planning to use a Heatproof Bronzong with Trick Room and Rain Dance. I've got my strategy planned out but... I need to level this Bronzong.

Is there a good way to do it? I've been grinding in Amethyst Cave for the rest of my team, but my Bronzong doesn't have the hitting power to grind effectively, and I really don't wanna switch train if I don't have to. But it has trouble taking down more than one pokemon before needing to heal.

I can do it this way if I really have to. Theres a healing machine right next door, but it'd be great if I could find another way to level it. Its currently level 60. Is there a better place to grind that I might not know about?

  13. I believe the current episode is 15, correct? If not, I need to download the latest episode. But as of this episode....

Are we able to get back to Reborn City? I'm just about to fight Charlotte and I have no idea how much further this game goes at the moment, but I would like to be able to go back to Reborn City at some point.

  14. Alright, its been a while, but I'm having a bit of trouble with Samson, especially considering I can't get back to previous areas at the moment.

    Here's my team:

    Magnezone: Level 60

    No item

    Sturdy

    Rash nature

    -Spark

    -Flash Cannon

    -Metal Sound

    -Discharge

    Honchkrow: Level 62

    No item

    Super Luck

    Careful nature

    -Wing Attack

    -Sucker Punch

    -Brave Bird

    -Foul Play

    Golem: Level 57

    No item

    Sturdy

    Relaxed nature

    -Stone Edge

-Rock Smash (Needed the HM :( )

    -Earthquake

    -Double-edge

    Lilligant: Level 56

    Big Root

    Leaf Guard

    Docile nature

    -Stun Spore

    -Petal Dance

    -Quiver Dance

    -Giga Drain

    Yanmega: Level 60

    No item

    Speed Boost

    Mild nature

    -Detect

    -Air Slash

    -U-turn

    -Bug Buzz

    Infernape: Level 60

    No item

    Blaze

    Mild nature

    -Acrobatics

    -Flame Wheel

    -Close Combat

    -Strength

So thats what I've got to work with and I'm kinda stumped. I caught a Meditite, but then realized I can't get it any decent moves since I have no access to the move relearner. I feel like I'm a bit trapped here. Most of my pokemon get 1-shot by any of Samson's pokemon. Only ones that can take a hit are Golem and Magnezone with Sturdy.

  15. Your biggest problem is that you need to go back to the move relearner with a heart scale and get quiver dance on Lilligant, who is completely useless otherwise. Give it a cheri berry and set up on Noel's wigglytuff with it. You should be able to get at least one quiver dance up, more if the AI is feeling really stupid. the field actually boosts grass attacks so a field boosted, STAB boosted, +1 petal dance should start making very quick work of Noel until swellow comes into play. Golem can take care of that.

You will need to give magneton an air balloon for the fight, as I believe is clefable has hidden power ground. Magneton must be saved for clefable, nothing else. You also need to get murkrow to level 55 so it gets sucker punch which at that point you can evolve it to honchkrow. I'd also consider getting tailwind for it from the move relearner before evolving too, as tailwind is a godsend in reborn for doubles battles, and even singles.

Alright, awesome. This is some really good advice I'll have to put into use. But quick question... where can I get an air balloon?

EDIT: So, I tried this strategy setting up on the Wigglytuff, but unfortunately it all falls apart because he's smart enough to send in Swellow straight away after Wigglytuff.

I send in Golem to counter, he U-turns into Cincinno.

I switch to Infernape to take the Bullet Seed, finish his Cincinno with Close Combat.

He sends in Porygon-Z, sweeps my team.

    I'm still stuck. :/

  16. I never change/ break Serra's field. I didn't even know it was possible in the first place. Maybe I should spend more time reading about the field effects, but that takes away half the fun for me.

Yeah, honestly, I didn't know you could break it. I just sent in Magneton and spammed Flash Cannon. Rekt her whole team.

  17. Maybe you can level up / EV train your team to start with ( you will need it soon anyway I guess)

You can hit all his pokemons super effectively, and with stab, your team is good against him. ( I don't remember if I was able to OS his porygon with my infernape but if you hit it beforehand it should be easy)

How would I go about EV training my team? Is there a way I can reset their EVs? Or would I have to breed and level everything from scratch?

  18. So.... Noel is basically a god. I don't even get close to beating him. He usually sweeps me with Porygon-Z. Help?

    My team:

    Magneton: Level 51

    No item

    Sturdy

    Rash nature

    -Spark

    -Flash Cannon

    -Metal Sound

    -Discharge

    Murkrow: Level 50

    No item

    Super Luck

    Careful nature

    -Wing Attack

    -Feint Attack

    -Foul Play

    -Brave Bird

    Infernape: Level 52

    No item

    Blaze

    Mild nature

-Cut (No HM slave :( )

    -Acrobatics

    -Flame Wheel

    -Close Combat

    Lilligant: Level 52

    Big Root

    Leaf Guard

    Docile nature

    -Stun Spore

    -Petal Dance

    -Synthesis

    -Giga Drain

    Golem: Level 52

    No item

    Sturdy

    Relaxed nature

    -Rock Blast

-Rock Smash (No HM slave :( )

    -Earthquake

    -Double-edge

Cofagrigus: Level 47 (plan to replace it)

    No item

    Mummy

    Bashful nature

    -Shadow Ball

    -Will-O-Wisp

    -Ominous Wind

    -Power Split

So... I have no idea how to counter Noel. He has only one weakness for the most part, and he counters it well. HALP!

  19. Get rid of Luminion and also Fortress, at least for now, if available get a Lilligant or Quagsire, if you do, your set

I don't think I can get a Quagsire yet, but I do have a Petilil. However, I don't believe I have access to a Sun Stone yet, unless I've missed one somewhere.

    EDIT: Still looking for recommendations/thoughts!
