You mean the 3x3 grid puzzle? No joke, i messed around with it for maybe like 10 minutes and solved it.  Had no idea how I did it, just got extremely lucky xD

According to "sources" there is a simple solution to it, but I didn't want to move forward with that because it felt like cheating.
That and the term move can be ambiguous in the case, and knowing Ame, I assumed she wouldn't make it that cut and dry to leave out the ambiguity.

  2. I just solved the numbers puzzle, that was brutal, but I loved it!

From start to finish, it took me 12 hours, a spread sheet and somewhere between 50 and 100 moves.
I will note that I did sleep in-between, and I only started mapping moves once I woke up, so it was really only 4ish hours of work, and the number of moves was probably closer to 100.

  3. I dunno if this is a bug, or is intentional.

I have a habit of switching to full screen the old fashioned way (ALT + ENTER), and I've noticed that when I press the ALT key, the game speeds up.
It didn't in Episode 15, but it does now.

Nothing fatal about it, it makes regular battling (choice selection in general) a bit more difficult, but I do like that it makes grinding faster as long as all you have to do is push A; so I could see it as being intentional. But in case it wasn't, I figured I'd mention it.

  4. The Vikings

Simple profit: not as harsh as Team Rocket (all pokemon exist to aid team rocket), but we'd trainer ourselves to be like Robin Hoods (but for ourselves obviously). An organization that steals from other organizations. It pushes the border of morality enough to not warrant immediate termination like many other organizations. As a secondary goal, we would want the most powerful pokemon so that we can remain uncontended. We don't seek out legendary pokemon, but if there is a powerful pokemon that we can obtain, we'll get it. Our PR would be to "protect" those who can't protect themselves to possibly get donations even.

For a team while out on a raid: Generally pokemon that hit fast and/or hard.

  5. For me, I think it would be a sense of accomplishment if they were achievable in the wild in a difficult to get place.

If the professor set it up such that, "I discovered a new species of pokemon, I want you to figure out what it can do..." then later you go through a puzzle/side-quest to end up where the starters are found in the wild. It brings a sense of exploration and, this is where the professor was. To me, if makes the character of the professor a bit more relatable(?)

For me I think it's just the term starter that I dislike the most. I think of it as something that's meant to start you off; not something that's supposed be with you everywhere. It can, but that would be your choice to do it.

That said, is if good that there are only three starters or simply one per type?

What if you had a choice of one from each type? Or several choices for each fire, grass, water (like in pokemon reborn)? Do those negate the purpose of the starter?

What if you simply chose a type, and you got a semi-random pokemon of that type. I'll use pokemon Reborn as an example. Instead of choosing one from the eighteen, you pick the type, and you get one in that type? I feel that there would be a bias in answers because, we all have a favorite that we would probably SR for; but what if they were entirely new pokemon.

I think it would be fun to have a starter from each type, that would be more fun as a trainer to start with that kind of a choice. It would be cool to get at trainer type based on our decision too (or simply could choose it).

  6. As the newest Pokemon Sun/Moon is around the corner, we will have a seventh set of canon starters. That made me think about starter pokemon in general and the qualities they have, and what fan games have either adopted, adapted, or overwritten.

My question is, what makes a good starter?

Some topics of investigation would be:
    * Should starters be powerful enough for you to keep the whole game, or should they everntuallybe replaced?
    * Should starters be obtainable in the wild?
    * Should more fire starters be secondary fighting type?

    * Should starters be fire, grass, water? Should they even relate at all?

Some are more serious than others, but they all fair-game...

    My observations:
All starters are fairly cute, and almost pet-related, as in most starter pokemon are based on animals people have as pets. They tend to have awkward stage ones, with powerful stage twos.
They tend to be strong enough to last your journey to the end of the game without too much difficulty.
I'm sick of fire/fighting. I dislike that they are always fire, grass, water.

Things I think would make a good starter:
While I do like that you can effectively keep your starter the entire game, I feel like it would be interesting to have to make a choice to do so. I wouldn't mind a slight cut-back on power level simply because it might draw players closer to their pokemon. Do you want a more powerful pokemon, or a pokemon that has been with you since the beginning? I wouldn't cut back the power too much obviously, but just enough so that the question arises more often.

I would love for there to be non-fire, grass, and water starters. While I appreciate the trifecta created, I personally would love if they were connected in some other them other than the rock/paper/scissors. Things like, have them all be the same animal but with a different elemental connection. Have them all come from the place only accessible post-game. Have one that can surf, one that can fly, and one that can ... rock climb, (punch boulders) just something else. I wouldn't care about which one beats the other, and just gofor whatever types may come from that.

I also think that they should all have three stages is kind of a waste. While I like that they should all have the same number of evolutions in their generation, maybe have it so they don't evolve, or have only two stages.

Just something to strike up discussion... what do you guys think makes a good starter, versus a bad starter?

  7. Out of curiosity, when it DOES get released in it's alpha beta etc forms, do you guys just go through and TRY to break the game and whatnot?
Like, "I wonder if this wall is actually a wall", and you just run at every single wall to make sure it is? With each trigger, and event and, and puzzle?

  8. Beating Mewtwo.

My first run through the game, I couldn't beat it. Mewtwo literally OHKO every pokemon on my team with a super-effective move. The only time I would survive one hit, would be if I switch in my pokemon, but then it would be a two-hit KO, and I couldn't outspeed. At the time, I had only seen three of it's moves, so to myself, I thought, He can sweep my entire team with just three moves, what pokemon could I bring that the fourth move wouldn't even hurt that badly? I had an assumption,BUT as I was stuck (thanks to the sleep pulse) I had to restart.

I started a NEW game, and played through 70ish hours of the game but finally arrived at Mewtwo again with a very similar team, but one big change... I had a shedinja. Then I discovered that the last move was recover, and shedinja eventually went down to sruggle (which I think is stupid as heck Pokemon Co., that happened to me in old Pokemon Ruby with steven and his Aggron)

So I started a new game just to beat a Mewtwo.... well, I also captured Absol and found more department store stickers, but it was fun to me to think that my pokemon battle strategy was to create an alternate universe to gain an advantage of a legendary pokemon. It seems very fitting.

That and beating Fern every time.

  9. Now that we return to the city, it would be interesting to see powerful trainers aid in its reconstruction. The people in the Grand Hall are affected as much as everyone so they should be helping Adrienn at the very least. So , if while we're discovering the refurbished areas in Jasper, Apophyll or Tanzan we could battle those people and some even award us rare items for our service, that would be great.

    I would love that.

I think it would a be a great time to rebattle the trainers/gym leaders that were low level like Julia or the FloBot
