I have 60 hours on this game now... I don't think it beats Sky, but I think it's enjoyable in a different way.
Vague post game spoilers
I never felt compelled to play Sky past the final, final boss, but SMD really made me want to complete the game and recruit all the pokemon. This is probably just due to the fact that everything is more stream-lined in SMD; they lay out every mission you can do in the Connection Orb. It's also a lot easier to power up your starters with vitamins and the Water Looplet.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is an awesome adventure/platformer. The best part is probably the dialogue; the cutscenes are long winded sometimes but they're always entertaining. Searching for the collectibles is also a lot of fun.

I updated the original post with our current team. Still nothing too special, except for our nicknames I guess. I'll try to update after every recording session. Some people were saying that we should take Snubbull instead of Swirlix. I think they would both work out decently; for now we're sticking with Swirlix.
Slushie and I are looking to stream the game in a little bit here (if he would just get online...). Just like last time, we'd love it if some of you guys stopped by!

@Heliosan That's a good point but I feel like this isn't as big a problem in the newer games. That said, Pidgeotto doesn't get a good move until level 37...

We're thinking we might switch out team members as we progress, we'll see how that goes.

I first noticed the problem when I tried re-loading the game from a pokemon center in Peridot. But then I moved to the Opal Ward and I'm still not getting any music. BGM is enabled. I tried re-downloading, and it's still not working. I kept the same save file though, could that be the save be the problem?
EDIT: The jukebox doesn't work.

Hi! My friend and I were recording this game for a youtube series a few days ago. The sound and music seemed fine then. But now, when I launch the application, there's no music playing. Sound effects work fine. I'm using a PC, not a Mac. I've read that Macs have a hard time with sound in this game.
Any suggestions for solutions would be appreciated!

Paper Mario 2 is my favorite RPG, honorable mentions to Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and Xenoblade. I have to say that I'm surprised by the lack of Undertale in this thread. I guess I wasn't the only one who wasn't really hooked by it.
