[advice or help. character frozen]

hello. i just started playing this game and i am stuck and not able to move. i just came out the starting place with a magikarp and turtwig. i try to go to the right to go to the opal bridge but when i tried to leave the opal bridge i tried to leave on the top part of the stairs to the right of the man. now im stuck between him and the wall and cannot move.i cannot turn around and talk to the man or anything. I DONT WANT TO START OVER because my turtwig is a great nature and it has shell armor. please help
