  1. What are the odds I would pull up the forums again and actually catch the one relevant thread for me -relatively- soon after it was posted? It must've been meant to be.

I'm fashionably late as usual, but better late than never, right? Anyway, congrats on graduating, Ark! You always were one of my favorite people when I was actually active here, so it's kind of bittersweet to hear about your departure. That being said, I'm glad to hear I had any sort of influence on your time here, because you definitely influenced mine. I can't say I've had any impact towards that effect in recent years as I haven't really been around, but if you ever want to talk or do anything, you can hit me up wherever. Otherwise, best of luck to you and congrats again! Good luck in your field!

  2. As far as I know, there are no special requirements to participate in the community release other than being a member on the forums. After the beta testing, community testing is the next stage, and Ame will post a thread in the News and Announcements section with a link to download it. Here's the page for Episode 16's community test, as an example:

So you pretty much just need to wait.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. Just found this artist today. He's super good and makes pretty original songs, but he's also got a really small following right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he blew up later down the line though. The only kinda similar artist I can think of is The Avalanches.

Here are three of my favorites from his first album (and only album as of now). The whole album's great though.

"If your friend is sad about something, you are more likely to offer emotional support than suggest ways to deal with the problem."

The answer is either extreme agree or disagree.

Aces should be able to answer this one for me.

    Indeed I could.

  5. MEDIATOR PERSONALITY (INFP, -A/-T)

Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.

Here's the rest if anyone's interested:

I'd say this is pretty accurate for most aspects of me.

Being a part of the Diplomat Role group, Mediators are guided by their principles, rather than by logic (Analysts), excitement (Explorers), or practicality (Sentinels). When deciding how to move forward, they will look to honor, beauty, morality and virtue – Mediators are led by the purity of their intent, not rewards and punishments. People who share the Mediator personality type are proud of this quality, and rightly so, but not everyone understands the drive behind these feelings, and it can lead to isolation.

All that is gold does not glitter; not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither; deep roots are not reached by the frost.

    J. R. R. Tolkien

We Know What We Are, but Know Not What We May Be

At their best, these qualities enable Mediators to communicate deeply with others, easily speaking in metaphors and parables, and understanding and creating symbols to share their ideas. Fantasy worlds in particular fascinate Mediators, more than any other personality type. The strength of their visionary communication style lends itself well to creative works, and it comes as no surprise that many famous Mediators are poets, writers and actors. Understanding themselves and their place in the world is important to Mediators, and they explore these ideas by projecting themselves into their work.

Mediators have a talent for self-expression, revealing their beauty and their secrets through metaphors and fictional characters.

Mediators’ ability with language doesn’t stop with their native tongue, either – as with most people who share the Diplomat personality types, they are considered gifted when it comes to learning a second (or third!) language. Their gift for communication also lends itself well to Mediators’ desire for harmony, a recurring theme with Diplomats, and helps them to move forward as they find their calling.

Listen to Many People, but Talk to Few

Unlike their Extraverted cousins though, Mediators will focus their attention on just a few people, a single worthy cause – spread too thinly, they’ll run out of energy, and even become dejected and overwhelmed by all the bad in the world that they can’t fix. This is a sad sight for Mediators’ friends, who will come to depend on their rosy outlook.

If they are not careful, Mediators can lose themselves in their quest for good and neglect the day-to-day upkeep that life demands. Mediators often drift into deep thought, enjoying contemplating the hypothetical and the philosophical more than any other personality type. Left unchecked, Mediators may start to lose touch, withdrawing into “hermit mode”, and it can take a great deal of energy from their friends or partner to bring them back to the real world.

Luckily, like the flowers in spring, Mediator’s affection, creativity, altruism and idealism will always come back, rewarding them and those they love perhaps not with logic and utility, but with a world view that inspires compassion, kindness and beauty wherever they go.

What led you to Reborn Forums?

    Fondest memory in the Forums?

    Favorite pokemon?

Fictional character you relate to the most?

    1. Originally, I found Reborn because of the Reborn game. (Surprisingly, not through Shofu as many others did around my time.) I downloaded the game, but never made an account or even browsed the forums until I saw the thread for Acquiescent's roleplaying thread, Pokemon Aftermath. It sounded really cool, so I made a forum account and signed up. From there, I was involved in the RP forum for a long time, before eventually branching off and doing whatever it is I do around here now.

    2. Fondest memory... That's a tough one. My time in the RP section has a really special feeling to it, as it's where I met most of the people around here that I'd call friends. If not that, then the Foxening for sure. Starting that "event" and working with Dan on it to convert people to foxes against their will was a blast and it was really fun to see everybody's reactions to how big it got. We even got Ame herself in on it.

    3. Favorite Pokemon has always been Cyndaquil, ever since I was a kid. I never evolve it in any of the games and always raise it to level 100 once I get it. Pokemon Silver was also my first Pokemon game, so that probably influenced me as well. Aggron and Nidoking come close after though. Abra's cool too.

    4. My first thought is Kayaba Akihiko from Sword Art Online, but I'm not sure if that's necessarily the best answer. I definitely relate to him and like him as a character, but there are so many fictional characters out there that I feel like it's really easy to forget one that might be a better fit. Handa Seishu from Barakamon might be another potential answer, but I feel like I don't really have the same dedication as him to make it a good fit. Now that I'm going through a bunch of characters in my head, I'm realizing that I can also kind of relate to Hayato from Oregairu in a lot of ways. I've never thought about how he and I are similar before, but I can kind of see it now. Not in all ways, but definitely some. I'd say out of the characters I can think of now, it'd be one of those 3.

Who has been the most important person in your life? can you tell me about him/her?

what was the happiest moment in your life? the saddest?

are you willing to record your voice like zumi and mde?

ps: Hi flux nice to meet you :D

    1. This... is a hard question. Maybe my mom? That feels like kind of a cop out answer though, but she's honestly done so much for me. I'm not sure if I can really confidently pick a person for this though.

    2. Also kind of hard. Picking one moment is hard, but as a whole, the happiest I've felt has probably been a couple occasions this past year. There's a co-worker of mine that I'll admit being interested in, and spending time with her laughing and having fun, and having at least a friend-level relationship has really been great. Any time I found a sign that she might be interested in me as well was certainly a happiness boost as well too, so I'd say probably those moments. As for the saddest... Honestly, it revolves around the same person. Conversely to the aforementioned situations, whenever I saw something that made me really think she might not be interested the same way I am kind of hurts... it's bittersweet at least. Especially with recent events, I feel like things have changed and might not ever be quite the same. I've only got until the end of the summer until she leaves anyway, so the saddest so far has been those times. Maybe these are trivial answers, but I haven't had anything terribly tragic happen to me yet. I'm sure that in the near future these will probably no longer be my happiest or saddest times as I move on, but as for now, that's that.

    3. I feel like I was supposed to respond to this by recording my voice. Anyway, I'm perfectly willing to if people actually want it. Just too lazy to do it if nobody cares. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  7. I've recently started to try to get back in the swing of things after taking a couple months break from the forums and Reborn in general, so some of you might not even know who I am. I figure this might be a good way to reconnect, at least a little bit. Anyway, I've done one (fairly unsuccessful) AMA in the past, so I figure I'll give it another (fairly unsuccessful) go again. Ask me anything and everything. Nothing is out of play aside from stuff like my SS number and other important info. You don't get that. I'll do my best and give you an honest answer.

  8. How can you like Jing Wei?

Favorite setting for a story (in general)?

    Favorite video game?

    Favorite type of weather?

Related to the above, and possibly the same, if weather had to be static for the rest of time, which kind of weather would you want it to be? (Let's ignore what's necessary for growth and life and just say based on aesthetics. The same food and all that is somehow provided regardless.)

What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?

Which character (either PC or NPC) from Reborn's roleplaying section is your favorite, excluding your own characters? (Also which RP are they from in case I want to read up a bit on it? :3)

  9. It's a picture of Kayaba Akihiko from the ending of Sword Art Online. I edited out the background and changed some colors around so he'd fit better in the new background I'm using, which is from the intro to SAO. I've been using this one for a looong time now, mostly because I really like the character, and can kind of identify with him in some ways. Strangely enough, I like his bland appearance, and the pose in this picture especially is one that I think is a good fit for my image around here.

It doesn't get challenging till you hit lunatic and 7th or 8th stratum in training. really, 10th stratum just cheats.

BE isn't a challenge at all. You literally have to wait till RNG gives you someone good. And even 5* characters in that game can be trash. Far as I can tell, the meta is far more strict than in heroes, and most of the time, moves and abilities that make a character unique have no effect on bosses and monsters and movepools are absolute garbage. Take Garland for example. He has shit for magic stats and semi decent phsy stats. He has all magical attacks except for some really shitty dark attacks, (like 1.2 phys damage in exchange for 25+% max health and a gravity attack that works on nobody).

If I had a team of 5 Noctis at 6 stars each, I would win the game. period. no jokes. hands down. your best 6* character just died 5 times over already.

BE had an update recently where i have no idea where to look to read the little story tidbit behind each character. So now I have no idea who the fuck any of these characters are that I summon. Except for the treasure seeking adventurer with iconic whip and hat is whose name is Montana instead of indiana or Kenyu, who is no way at all a jab at ken and ryu at all.

I don't see the argument for superior gameplay when team composition and movements play an entirely crucial role in any and every single match in Heroes, whereas in BE the match is decided way before it begins and is completely unforgiving to newcomers.

I suppose you do have a point about BE, though I can't really say for sure as I don't have any of "those" characters in that game to see for myself how easy it becomes. In all honesty, I've pretty much quit that game too (Granblue Fantasy is where pretty much any mobile gaming time I have is spent), though I still do enjoy it far more than Heroes. The upgrade system is far more achievable, the equipment and ability customization adds a lot to the game that Heroes doesn't have, and party composition allows for more play styles. If Heroes just played like a normal Fire Emblem game with the Mobile Gacha system, I think I'd like it a lot more. It's not like the hardware can't handle it, so I suppose it just bothers me since it feels like they're taking multiple steps down from a normal Fire Emblem game.

  11. Got 5* Marth my second day playing this game, which was cool since he's my Melee main and one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters in general. I don't play anymore though. I finished as far as the story currently goes, did a few more maps on hard for exp, and then uninstalled it. I personally found the gameplay too simple/easy, the maps too small, and the story too bland to keep with it. I also found the artwork to be pretty shabby in a lot of cases (though there are some good ones too), and the 5*s are a little too OP for my taste, given how relatively easy they are to come across compared to similar Gacha games. To me, Brave Exvius and Granblue are both superior in gameplay, content, artwork, and overall depth. That being said, it seems to be popular here, so maybe I'll give it another go. I can at least share my code if anyone wants it, though I'd have to redownload the game. Have they added the option to use a friend's character at all? I know other games have features like this, but I don't remember Heroes having it. I don't really see the incentive to add multiple people without it though.

  12. I haven't seen many birthday threads since the move to the new site, but then again, I've also been gone for a while now. Either way, here's a birthday thread for an old friend that I admittedly haven't talked to in a while. Happy birthday Murdoc! Hope you're doing all right, and hopefully I'll end up finding some way to get more involved here so we can have some interaction again. Either way, hope your 20th is great!

  13. I'm somewhat curious if anyone else has a similar "dream location." I'm sure a lot of us probably do. For me, it's a log cabin on a cliffside, situated above the treeline and overlooking a vast forest, with a winding river visible in the distance. The cliffside has a rocky path that leads down to the base of the forest, taking you to ground level. It's my 100% ideal place to live, and I've thought about it enough to pretty much picture the whole area. I'm curious if anyone else has gone into such depth with a dream home or location. It's not particularly impossible, so a part of me likes to think that this place actually exists out there somewhere, or at least something similar. What are your dream homes or locations like?

  14. I had a pretty good Christmas this year, considering that I didn't actually ask for anything. My family got me stuff anyway, and they knew me pretty well.

The Last Guardian - I waited 5 years for this and would have bought it the day it came out, but my family told me not to buy anything until Christmas because they were buying gifts, so I resisted the urge. They knew how much I've been obsessing over that game for the past couple years though. Glad to have it now.

World of Final Fantasy - I hadn't actually read much about this outside of hearing its announcement, but it looks like it'll be a lot of fun. My mom got me Day 1 Edition too somehow, so I got a bunch of cool DLC stuff for it. Pretty excited to play through this one. It's been too long since I played a classic RPG.

A really nice Columbia hoodie - I love hooded pullover sweatshirts, so this is a really great gift that I wouldn't have thought to ask for. I needed more too.

$80 total in cash (from various relatives)

    $25 Gas Card

2 books - My dad always gets us somewhat obscure books as part of his gift, but they're usually pretty interesting and things I would never have known about if not for him. I can't recall the titles off hand right now though.

And then I've got an unopened card from my aunt for my birthday in a few days. I'm guessing there's a bit more money in there, given their previous gifts.

All in all, it's been a pretty good Christmas. I didn't really find myself wanting much, now that I've got a job and can buy most things myself, but my family found things that I like and probably wouldn't have bought on my own (aside from The Last Guardian).

  15. no pika?? shame on you >:[

Oh shoot, I actually completely forgot Pika. Nobody plays him in my area, so it's easy to forget. I'd personally put Pika somewhere around Samus, probably right above her, but maybe below.

  16. As many of you have probably already figured out, I'm unfortunately going to have to close this thread without really ever getting to work on it. School + work has really left me with very little free time at all. I really hate starting things and not finishing them, so my apologies go out to everyone, but there's really just no way I could do it. Sorry again, from a disappointed Flux.

  17. If you think Icies, puff, and peach are underrated in the melee meta and that fox and falco players are all 'tryhards' then you're clearly some kind of psychopath

Just keep smash 4 out of this thread for the sake of my sanity

Oi, no need to r00d. Let's all try to keep things cool around here. Opinions are opinions and everyone has there own. Smash 4 players should be welcome to share there own views as long as they're talking about Melee as well. That's part of what this thread's about after all.

On topic, I'm a super big fan of Melee. It's definitely my number 1 investment as far as gaming goes, and I'd really like nothing more than to reach the top level of play. I main Marth, but I've been working on Fox and Falco as well, though there nowhere near my Marth yet. I also have a pocket Mario as my low-tier of choice. I've been practicing for around four years now, but I've only really started going to tournaments and learning how to play against real people this past year. It basically means that tech-skill wise, I'm far beyond most people in my area, but I really need to learn the neutral game intricacies to improve. Anyway, I'm down to play netplay with anyone who wants to do that.

As far as tier list discussion, I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about the top characters. My own list would be something like

    Fox

    Falco

    Marth

    Sheik

    Puff

    Peach

    Falcon

    Samus

    ICs

    Yoshi

    Luigi

as far as the top and high mid characters go. I feel like Puff in particular performs better in practice than where I've placed her, but I think that with time she'll become more predictable and people will have an easier time dealing with her. I honestly considered placing her right under Falcon, where I think she'll end up, given some time.

  18. Why is this game allergic to dropping it's Halloween gear? Last night I only bagged a couple quotes and a second RIP Ana.

I have a friend who got three of the Halloween legendaries in his first four crates. Meanwhile, I've only gotten 1 Halloween skin in general out of 7 crates. RNG's a crazy thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
