[Torchic Event - Pokemon Reborn]

Hello, I am playing through Pokemon Reborn right now, and I am at Agate City did all the story stuff but have not fought Hardy yet. I have been working on getting all the starters and as of now I only need Snivy and Torchic. I am working on the Torchic event right now, but when I go back to the Calcenon City Gym to recreate the basement floor pattern, the tiles don't change after I step over them. Is there anything in the event that I am missing, or is my game just bugged? Someone please let me know as soon as they can. Thanks!
