  1. ~ Excerpts from Patreon ~ ~ Urban Smoke and Nature's Bliss ~ Hey everyone, long time no see. It's that time of the month again where I jumble together a number of items we've worked on, and try to find a theme that links everything together. It's certainly a reach to call that process a success this month, but it's the thought that counts. Today, I'll briefly discuss our inner workings in a number of locations, including Cellia East and some... well, areas we've decided to leave unnamed. - A snippet of one of Ruby's masterpieces that will appear in-game. - To begin with, let's take a step back to see how the greenery has been growing: Old Content #################### | Map Updates (80%) #################### | Script Updates (55%) #################### | Misc (65%) -------------------------------------------------- #################### | Total (67%) New Content: #################### | Story (65%) #################### | Mapping (90%) #################### | Scripting (55%) #################### | Sidequests (75%) -------------------------------------------------- #################### | Total (71%) Yup, it's getting there. Bear in mind that these parameters are educated guesses more than anything. Anyway, now onto the actual update. Big Smoke and Blinding Lights Work continues on the bright lights of Cellia East. Only now, the end is actually within sight. Frankly, it's very comforting to actually see that nightlife coming together exactly as intended. It's been a long time coming, but it's definitely getting there. Thanks for hanging in there, you must be... The last few bits and pieces in Cellia East includes completing and tidying up some sidequests, and finishing the eventing processes within the Prison. These are all areas that have been previously revealed. After that, we can finally say with certainty that we're proud of the overall package that we call "Cellia", which is an exciting prospect. There's also a lot of balancing that still needs to go in within this area, including battles, item placement, quest rewards etc. It's the largest city area that has been created for the game thus far, so there's a lot of tweaks that need to be done for us to avoid things going awry at launch. A final reason as to why Cellia East has taken so long is one that I have iterated many times before. This district is my first real attempt to nail the world outside of the main story. Not just NPC's, but characters within sidequests, and the stories they have to tell. I want to make sure that every story is interesting within itself. This is something that I'm dedicated to, in order to reduce filler, and increase the amount of interesting and thought-provoking plotlines to explore. A Breath of Fresh Air Some of you may recall that we actually ventured outside of the dark and catastrophic atmospheres of Cellia and the Dreamscape in a past update. Well, we figured that it's been long enough since we broadened our horizons, and decided to share that with you. Obviously, it's clear that we've kept everything outside of Cellia and the Dreamscape pretty carefully under wraps, and we'll continue to do the same... at least for a little longer. But... there's definitely room here for at least a couple of screenshots. Yeah... your eyes aren't deceiving you. There's actually a world outside of the city! Firstly, you'll immediately note that the general aesthetic of this area is pretty unique, especially compared to past areas. This is because the talents of Crim, both from a graphical and mapping perspective (with help from everyone's favorite post-man, Posty), have allowed this entire section of the game become a unique area with its own personal feeling. I'm really proud of the work they've done on this, and following, areas. I can't beat around the bush - there's still lots to do. From the main story, to side quests, to general world-building... it's a lot. However, I feel like I can express some genuine happiness in saying that the end is actually within sight. There is an endpoint, and I feel as though we are no longer lost within a swamp of dev tasks. I find that pretty exciting, and I hope you do too. That'll be all for now, folks. Cheers for sticking with me! Till next time, Caz

  2. I feel like there are too many hoops to jump through for what is an essential aspect to combat engagement in this game. First and foremost, you shouldn't need to have to AP grind right from the start just to even have access to an actual EV training facility, and one of the core issues with EV training just on a conceptual level is it's just about grinding it out. There's no real challenge or test of your skill as a trainer. The real test comes from your knowledge and adaptability. Creating grindfest hoops for players to jump through is basically archaic in today's era of game design, and I think it would behoove both Rejuvenation and Reborn to adopt more modernized and manageable methods of EV training. For IVs, I don't even know why this is a value that still exists quite honestly. There are two incredibly niche situations in which having max IVs is not ideal: Special Attackers (who minimize confusion damage and Foul Play by having 0 attack IVs), and Trick Room teams (where having 0 speed IVs for some pokemon give them the ability to outspeed a handful of specific Pokemon under trick room). Beyond that, IVs are just an ancient form of stat customization that has aged very poorly. Natures are also pretty terrible design-wise. Only a handful of them even matter, and the rest actively handicapping the Pokemon that have them. Neurtal natures serve literally no purpose in any context, and while there is at least a decent amount that are useful to some Pokemon, any given Pokemon only really wants 1 or 2. At lot of these are just consequences of the official games' inability to grow and change with the development of the game industry. On a conceptual level, the idea of these factors can be at least an interesting thing, if not a good thing, but they're hilariously outdated in today's RPG design. It's significantly easier said than done, but I think since both Reborn and Rejuvenation are designed specifically to test your knowledge of Pokemon combat more than your ability to grind through the content like the main games, retaining these various hurtles just bogs the games down rather than props them up. Updating these with efficient ways of customizing your Pokemon with reasonable limitations so that you can't just get an all-new team every 5 minutes would do both games a lot of good.

  3. Hi everyone ! I was pretty bummed to find there was no guide for this game when I discovered it three weeks ago, so I decided to try my hand at it. Here's the result. I even made a couple of maps for Blackview and North Ceilia to help with navigating the places. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZnX8PFf5YOT46w9Et2pfXZissBQSgQBP/view?usp=sharing My apologies in case of awkward phrasing, I usually have a pretty good grasp on english, but sometimes my inner frenchman forgets how to put words in the correct order. I am, of course, open to feedback and will try to include suggestions/stuff I missed, so don't hesitate to comment in this thread. I don't frequent the forums a lot, so I may be a bit slow to react a couple months down from there, though. I still have no idea where in the hell Wynaut is supposed to be, despite the available chart listing him as existing somewhere in the game. If anyone knows something about this, please let me know. (EDIT: After asking caz, it's extremely likely this is an error on the availabilty chart : Wobbuffet is available in the wild, Wynaut must be bred.) - Thanks a lot to Caz, Posty, Ruby and their patrons for answering my questions on their discord and helping making this as accurate as it is. - Thanks to CheddarSouffle for the item guide, as i didn't knew about TM20 until after finishing my second playthrough of the game. I hope you have a good time using this guide. Have fun with the game, in any case, it was a really pleasant surprise for me to discover it.

  4. Okay, now actual real E8: 1) Alexandra, since well, what can you do. 2) Goomink. He became a true hero and was chosen for his battle prowess. 3) Sakitron. Erick and Saki tuned her so hard she became stronger than both of them combined and was picked as an E8 member by Alexandra. 4) Ren and Reina's mom. Like, did you even, like, had any doubts? Umm... 5) Jenkel. Ehehehehe... 6) Piano lady. Because that was obvious for a long time, duh. 7) Truck driver. They always hide some dark secret within. Taxi drivers too. 8) Rorim B. Because hell yeah, baby, let's get groovy here. If it's anything less, i will be sorely dissapointed.

  5. During Erin's scene with Melia in the Blakeory Atheneaum, Erin asks Melia if they really travelled through time and visited the past. She then asks Melia if she really was sure about it or if she just believed Spacea and Tiempa. From this, she formulates a theory that she refuses to share with Melia. Has this been brought up again in more recent chapters? I can't seem to recall that. What is her theory all about? Any ideas?

  6. Ohhh, good point. Moreover, what if the tournament takes place in the gym itself?

  7. I am thankful for the EV training system which you dont have in Reborn. (I had to find out my own places and it takes way longer still) I was only against having it unlocked so late but now that this have changed back it is good and balanced in my opinion. You can unlock the AP for them like a few said before relatively easy. With free from the start it would be out of control in my opinion and like Blontary said use debug if you dont want to train them (every can play their own way but for me it took away a little of the game and felt strange for me). If I am not wrong you can get the beeries a little earlier than before and the IV is a great way but really strong and ok in my opinion that it is that late. For me the charm of Reborn & Rejuvenation is that they are way harder than the classic games which is the reason I play them.

  8. Wasn't there two castles right next to each other on Blacksteeple? One that we are in and the other that no one could even get into. What if the one that we were in was Nymeria's castle, hence the Xerneas statues in the courtyard and garden, and the one that no one could even get into is Indriad's castle?

  9. It can still be gotten while being kind to some people. If you do all the "bad outcomes" to quests/story events that is already 95 points. You just need to be mean to a single one of the major characters/Tesla and you have a 100, or 115 in the case of Tesla (as she gives you 20 points, instead of the normal 5). So you can be as nice as you want to a few people! A word of warning though, when I did this run recently, the hand over the time diamond option was bugged and hardlocks the game, forcing you to replace your save with a backup one (after hitting continue you spawn incorrectly and cannot move at all). I.E. the 10 points for handing it over are inaccessible, meaning events/quests can only give you 85 points, hence, you should be mean to 3 people, or just Tesla to get enough points, but that still lets you be nice to a few people. You can also just have lower karma by not doing all the sidequests, which also gives you bad ending points, in which case you might be able to get away with being mean to nobody. For example, in my game Aelita and Melia both really like me, and I still got the bad ending scene.

  10. After just under a year of development, Case 15-19 are now here! Important notes to returning players: Please report any bugs found here or in the bug reporting channel on our Discord. And that's about it, to both returning and new players, I hope you enjoy Ashen Frost!

  11. "One with a soul as gold as Arceus light. One with the resolve to lead others. One who fights for a lost loved one." One is the Interceptor and the one with the resolve to lead others is Aelita, it's crystal clear. I haven't got the time to collect my thoughts, but I think we lack info for the rest. But I'll come back at some point with my mind collected. About the one with a soul as Arceus I see two options, Melia and Adrest. -Nymiera's letter to Alexandra said that 1/3 of the entity's soul fell right in front of her and it was Adrest. I'm eliminating this option immediately for two reasons. Firstly because Adrest can't be two lights of the prophecy. And secondly because he doesn't have a soul AS gold as Arceus, his soul IS part of him. -We know that Vitus wished for children and Erin,Alice,Allen,Maria came to exist, not Melia. Melia btw is sure she isn't Maria and I tend to believe that. So we all choose Melia blindly because she is more of a "main character" but we lack info, these 5 may use Polymerization who knows. About the other one who fights for a lost loved one. I can think of Cresent, Nim, Ana and Nymiera, but I believe it's Cresent. Check this out. Alexandra had suggested that the world had already been restarted once by activating the Resetting Core. Because Adrest lives inside the MC, she thought that we activated it. So we entered the Zeight to find out about that and instead we learnt that Cresent is the secondary co-host of Adrest. Remember back in Spotlight City, in the Phoenix Academy with Cresent and all the possible MCs when the Storm-9 hit. Our MC pushed Cresent off the cliff to save her, they said they love each other. She must have activated the Core to reset the world soon after, resetting everything except herself. Then at SS.Oceana where she summoned our MC with the black box, we made a contract with Veriya to be the Interceptor, but we got half the duties of the Interceptor. Cresent, Dahlia was probably born of man, we don't know much yet but she had a brother. In this world however, maybe she classifies as not born of man because everything was reset except her, and her lost loved one is the MC before the reset. What do you think?

  12. I feel the same. I'd love to watch someone on YT go through the whole game making all of the asshole choices and the responses it gets but I could never do it myself. I just don't feel comfortable hurting undeserving people/characters intentionally and having them hate me. According to the YT video I watched it is in fact 100 (though the vidder used Debug to get the needed bad ending calc for the purpose of showing Clear and Kieran's invitation) and I must disagree that it can be achieved with any level of niceness. This is the reason. This is a good observation. The bad ending choices in this game are quite black and white with in-betweens that are more fillers than actual choices which removes some of the dilemma from them vs. in Reborn where the choices are an authentic chess game with people's lives with both beneficial and consequential outcomes that require one to examine their morals. The bad path pretty much has to be a deliberate feat and as pointed out it does feel quite like an afterthought because it doesn't reflect strongly in the story. I.e I'm told that being on the bad path doesn't change the Puppet Master confrontation scene in which all of the protagonists empower the MC with their faith so that that faith isn't there or contains less conviction. I was rather disappointed when I heard this as I was when the Gardevoir choice ended up effecting nothing but dialogue. I was 100% expecting that choice to be a forked path. I'm still looking forward, however, to hopefully seeing where choosing to join Clear and Keiran/Team Xen leads in V14 but wouldn't be surprised if it didn't have a huge effect.

  13. Hi guys! I wanted to make a follow-up post regarding some of my theories. I've just replayed the entire game, and there were a lot of changes in the pre-v13 story that took me off guard. I think the devs have done such an amazing job, and things are starting to become increasingly clear [heh] to me with the additional context.

  16. I highly doubt that. She only recently arrived in the region, was a weak battler before meeting us, and at the moment league is in disarray and if she would be E8 member, it would be some kind of last minute addition. She simply did not have a chance, and probably wont have, to become one. Edit: I was skimming through game files, trying to find a clue, and i discovered that our Truck Driver is called... Truck Daddy. That makes me highly uncomfortable.

  19. This is splendid. But, cass, dev blogs can’t be a mistake – otherwise we would have no inkling of the diaboli ex machina impossible battles magic squares niceties that you wonderful people are working on. And you would have no way to satisfy the Radomus urge (aka “I know what’s in store and you don’t so I’ll cryptically tease at a small bit”)! … at least, I hope I’m not the only one with that kind of impulse.

See you all next month probably. Don't forget to be gay!
