[IC] TotMV:G^2: Clash of Fate: The Home Front

Chevaleresse

Recommended Posts

It was a bit of a trek to get to the location of the party's wayward base of operations, taking them not only through the local hills but a small glade. A glade that appeared to have possessed a few more trees than it had previously, as the castle rested quite snugly in the side of a small rise and atop a few snapped trunks. It didn't appear to have taken outward damage; Lexiel might have figured that it had something to do with coming into what amounted to two worlds simultaneously that caused the crash in the first place.

The apparent crash wasn't the only thing wrong with the sight; firstly, the thing seemed to glimmer slightly, particularly around the entrances. Closer inspection would have revealed shimmering chains wrapped around the structure, and extra sets crossing over the doors. The second was the enemies clustered around it, and preparing to lay siege to it, with what appeared to be a half-constructed onager already in place, as well as a rather ominous-looking magical circle etched around a shimmering, golden rod that held a crystal at its top, with the other end planted firmly in the ground.

Objective: Defend the castle! It has 1000 HP and 10 RES. The castle can make one action per round, and moves last. (It is stuck, however, and cannot move, only fire its weapons.) The siege weapons are valid combat targets, as are the crews of Dragon Teeth or mages constructing them. Enemy reinforcements will arrive periodically.

Liliya
A deep breath. Liliya crouched down, held for a moment, and then took off. She didn't wait the moment it would take to check what the future held; a good first strike needed to happen as quickly as possible without delay. She was betting on her survival, and she knew it, but it didn't bother her. She had done it before, and she would need to do it again. She found a mage, and dashed in, trying to rush past his guard, shank him, and then get out as quickly as possible.

Liliya uses her basic attack 3d6+DEX on Officer B, with  2*DEX% chance of a crit for double damage. Liliya's current stats: Con2,Res6,Dex10,Int0,Str3,Syn6

Walmond and Lambda

Walmond simply raised an eyebrow at the sight of the large contraption, and the amount of effort that went in to make sure that the Castle stayed where it went. Which, considering it seemed to be their only option out, was something he would have to work to protect now from their army. Wonderful.

With a sigh, Walmond snapped his fingers, bringing Lambda to attention. Then, he simply tilted his head forward, towards the direction of one of the army's officers, only to begin a slow but steady walk towards them. Lambda, however, after taking the split second to activate her sabers, had a sudden burst of speed and flew forward, charging the Officer while Walmond snapped his fingers again, an arc of electricity flying through the air and covering both of Lambda's sabers.

Walmond uses Electrical Current on Lambda, giving her +12 to her next attack.

Lambda attacks Officer A with her sabers, dealing 1d8+6, and +12 from Walmond's Electrical Current.

One of the Castle's Weapons suddenly turns in place, pointing towards the Mages swarming around a mysterious magical weapon, waves of purple energy begin to lash out from the Dish-like shape of the Gravity Cannon.  These waves seem to be throwing the people in all directions as gravity is twisted and torn to shreds.

The Castle fires Gravity Cannon at the Mages Operating The Magic Weapon.

Spoiler

Gravity Cannon

-When used, Deal 2d10+Syn damage

-The Barf 'o Matic Spintron: When an enemy vessel is struck by the Gravity Cannon, it warps the fabric of space and time inside the target, altering which way gravity pulls its crew at random intervals for the next 3 rounds. Crewed vessels suffer a 25% failure chance to all their crew-dependent actions. This effect doesn't stack with itself.

-Spacial Warp: The targeted vessel's armor and defensive systems are stressed by shifting gravity fields, dealing 5% of the target's current health in pure damage to the target each round for the next 3 rounds. This effect doesn't stack with itself.

Castle Syn = 5

"Focus fire on the battlemages!" Lexiel decides to call out, "They can do the most damage!"  Putting action to words, she fires an electrified narcojet dart at Officer A, hoping to knock him out of the fight with 2d3 + 1d8 + 4 electric damage.  Her aura pulses outward, nearly inaudiable, giving Liliya, Walmond, and Victoria +1 to initiative.

Magna Sigyl (39/39 HP) Res: 3 (5 vs. magic attacks)

"Looks like they have our castle locked down tight," Magna said with a whistle. With the massive welcoming party sitting right on their doorstep, it would be rude not to go and greet them. "Figure the remaining people in the castle are still holed up in there?"

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast A (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer C, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up] (from Magna's Perk, Summoner's Influence)

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast B (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer C, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up]

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast C (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer C, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up]

Magna uses Reave [1d10 + INT(8)] on Officer C

Soryn Éclaire (60/60 HP) Res: 4

"Our fortification doesn't seem to be faring that well," he said in a dry tone. He was curious as to what the mages of this world were capable of, and took a step back just to observe.

The Blood Well is at (20/72) capacity!

Soryn casts Hemosphere on Empi, shielding her for [25% of Soryn's current health (15)]*1.25 for a total of 19, and dealing [Original Barrier Health]/1.5 for a total of 13 damage upon breaking (40% of RES ignored due to Vampirism Perk).

Leon use Field Blitz on Officer A, Officer B, and Officer C. Each deal 1d6+1.25 DEX

Lesson in Affection on Walmond. Talent Affection (+6 to the highest stat)

Walmond must do these three actions in any order: Magic Burst, Electrical Current, Healing Field

Liliya dashes forward, Shiving Officer B for [11] Damage!

Empi gives Walmond a... “lesson in affection” (and surprisingly, everyone’s clothes stay on). Walmond will gain +6 to Int if he performs Magic Burst, Electric Current, Healing Field!

Soldier Battalion A Viciously Slash at Empi and Walmond, dealing [17] and [19] Damage!

Walmond Electrifies Lambda, granting [+12] to her next strike! Lambda promptly proceeds to accost Officer A with her blades, dealing [15] Damage!

DT Warrior Battalion A swiftly strikes Lexiel and Lambda, dealing [9] and [6] damage!

Victoria fires a Draining Shot on Officer B, lowering his damage by [5] for 3 turns!

DT Beast Pack B Sink their fangs into Liliya and Soryn, dealing [7] and [13] Damage!

Soldier Battalion B ferociously slashes at Magna, nicking her bones for [10] Damage!

Officer B conjures an electrical arc and hurls it at Victoria in retaliation for her interloping, dealing [10] damage!

Leon takes a page from Sanic and Blitzes Officers A, B, and C, dealing [8] Damage to each!

DT Archer Battalion fires into the crowd wildly, fletching Lexiel, Soryn, and Magna for [10], [9], and [8] damage.

Lexiel fires a small electrified dart into one of the kinks of Officer A’s armor, causing him to convulse briefly for [8] Damage. He seems far from incapacitated though. More angered than anything else. Her aura grants +1 Init to Victoria, Walmond, and Liliya. Only Walmond seems to benefit terribly much from it however...

Soldier Battalion C stands it’s ground, putting up its guard until next time.

DT Warrior Battalion B comes to the aid of Officer A, slashing at Lexiel for [12] Damage.

Soryn cast a sphere of blood over Empi, granting her a shield with [13] HP.

Magna sics her 3 stolen beasts on Officer C, dealing [12], [15], and [12] Damage! But wait, there’s more! She reaves him for [6] damage!

Officer A turns on Lexiel, a vehement chip on his shoulder. Conjuring a sphere of flames, he lobs the arcane fire at the angel, dealing [10] Damage and burning her for [7] damage for the next 3 turns!

Officer C likewise, turns his sights on Magna, blasting the reaper with a spear of Ice for [7] damage, lowering her Init by 2!

The Castle, with Mar manning the guns, fires a powerful burst of Gravity at the Siege Crystal, dealing [20] Damage! The mages seem not only distracted, but nauseous as well!

The Siege Onager seems to have a shot readied. They unleash the tension, slinging a massive rock into the castle facade for [26] Damage! The crew immediately goes to work loading another boulder…

The Siege Crystal sits idle, it’s crew trying to right the damage Mar dealt. Insult is added to injury as they take [14] damage from various warping.

Notes

Spoiler

From this turn going forward...

Each of the officers serve as the crew for the Siege Crystal. They have their own turns (listed as their indiviudal names in the Init) plus a collective turn at the end of the round where they try to fire the crystal (Listed as the "Siege Crystal" in the Init).

Dragontooth Warrior Battalion B serve as the crew for the onager. They work the same way the officers and crystal do- an individual turn as a unit, and a collective turn where they load and fire the onager.

Attacking either all crew members for a specific siege weapon, or attacking the siege weapon itself, will delay the firing of said weapon that turn. The weapons have their own HP however and don't share it with the crew- ie, don't just spam attacks on one of the Siege Weapons and expect to damage the crews working them too.

Walmond himself… Quickly realized that striding to battle probably wasn’t the best idea, as shown when a skeletal battalion turned their attention to him, forcing him to jump back, though not without a few managing to at least get a few cuts on his torso. With a frown, Walmond took a few steps back, then crouched towards the ground, letting green lines flow from his body and into the ground… Though, not as much as normal. The lines themselves make their way to Soryn, Lexiel, and Magna, zig zagging through the enemy forces to reach their targets.

Lambda, on the other hand, remained where she was, letting her blades re enter her arms and allowing her gauntlets to expand to create her two shields.

Walmond uses Healing Field on himself, Soryn, Lexiel, and Magna, healing them for 2d4+8 hp. Needs to do Magic Burst and Electric Current to activate Lessons of Affection.
Lambda uses Defensive Modification, giving her 50% damage reduction for 6 turns.

Liliya

A light hit. Nothing much. Liliya new she could take another like it, and she planned to. She had seen an opening. The third group of soldiers, in response to the rapid escalation of combat, had put up their guard. They thought they were safe. Time to disillusion them. Liliya sprang around, weaving between the more active combatants, coming up directly behind this group of important reinforcements. And she began to stab at them, poking at holes in their armor, and when she felt their collective attentions shift around towards her, she dashed off, away into the fray.

Liliya uses Knife in the Back. Deals basic damage (3d6+DEX), is doubled against enemies using a defensive action, and ignores the effects of that defense. 3 turn cooldown. 2*DEX% chance of a crit for double damage. Liliya's current stats: Con2,Res6,Dex10,Int0,Str3,Syn6

Magna Sigyl (14/39 HP) (pending healing) Res: 3 (5 vs. magic attacks)

Magna could feel her vessel deteriorating from the damage dealt to it. If nothing is done, she herself would perish. She really wish she had something to hide behind. Nevertheless, she sent her skeletal beasts for another round at the mage.

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast A (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer C, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up] (from Magna's Perk, Summoner's Influence)

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast B (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer C, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up]

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast C (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer C, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up]

Magna casts Reap on Dragon Tooth Beast C (or whatever beast has the highest health after turn processing), restoring (100% of target HP) 10 HP to herself. Dragon Tooth Beast C is consumed in the process.

Soryn Éclaire (28/60 HP) (pending healing) Res: 4

"I see that this is just an issue of numbers then," he said with annoyance. The mages didn't seem to be that competent, and seemed like easy targets to pick on.

The Blood Well is at (20/72) capacity!

Soryn casts Blood Siphon on Officer C, dealing 1d8 + 1.5*INT (9) for a total of 1d8 + 14 damage. Half of the damage dealt is restored as health to Lexiel.

"That was unexpected..." As Leon tried to recover from the attacks, he then observe the three enemy that he attacked, and decide to attack one of them

Leon use In a Flash  to Officer A for 2d12+DEX damage, this attack will always go first in the Init Bracket

Leon stats: Con2, Res6, Dex9+1, Int0 , Str4, Syn4

note: Dex+1 from weapon SYN Bonus

In a Flash: a quick one time use of Zero Flash, Leon will use it to get behind one of his opponent in a blink of an eye, and then slash them.

Coughing up blood entirely because she expects to be after getting hit so hard, Lexiel drops 2 goblins in front of herself to block for her (1 HP each, compel dragons to eat them, counterattack when Lexiel is hit for 1d2 + 7, body block attacks).  Her aura pulses again, boosting Liliya, Empi, and Victorias' initiatives by 1.

Suddenly, the other Turret swivels around, a series of long barrels on a devastating machine.

A Series of *Whunk*s ring out as soda cans are shot from the cannon, striking Officer A.  On Impact, the Cans explode into Acid, Stinking Toxic Acid!

The Castle fires the GAWRSH at Officer A, dealing 10d6 Damage and Reducing their RES by 5!

Turn 2

Leon flashes over to Officer A for [13] damage!

DT Beast Pack A encircle and pounce upon Liliya [16 vs 16] however the girl just barely manages to avoid their savage claws as they come centimeters away from exposed flesh, dashing away beyond their reach.

Liliya attempts to shiv an entire battalion of heavy armed men in the back. She is fast enough to catch one of the men unawares, opening up a deep wound for [32] damage. He shouts something very foreign and probably very rude at her as he vainly swings his blade, striking nothing but air as she retreats.

Walmond sets up a healing field, restoring [15] hp to himself, Soryn, Lexiel, and Magna. Lambda activates some type of defensive module, increasing her damage reduction for an obscene amount of turns.

Empi stomps on the hearts of an entire battalion, though who knows how long the pain of rejection will actually last...?

Soldier Battalion A recovers it what seems to be literally only two seconds however, again slashing the Fairy for her rebuttal, dealing [13] damage! fortunately for the lusty fae, Soryn's spell shields her from the assault, and in its collapse lashes out at the battalion for [5] Damage! Talk about insult to injury....

DT Warrior Battalion A intercepts Liliya as she flees the soldiers, Slashing into her side for [11] damage!

Victoria fires rapidly [28,95] striking DT Warrior Bat A for [7] and [2] damage!

DT Beast Pack B see a moving target scurrying across the battlefield, and like the dogs of war they are, chase after it. They pounce Lilliya like their brethren before them [14 vs 16] however once more, Lilliya just barely manages to evade their claws.

Soldier Battalion B Slash at Lambda and Magna, dealing [6] and [10] damage.

Officer B sends a spear of frigid ice soaring towards Lilliya, striking her for [8] damage and lowering her Init by 2!

DT Archer Battalion Fires at Leon and Victoria, dealing [5] and [8] damage!

Lexiel draws up some mana and summons a few goblins to guard her. Her Aura increases Liliya, Empi’s, and Victoria’s Init by 1. Her burn flares up for [7] damage.

Soldier Battalion C sets off after the woman who shanked their comrade, returning the favor by slashing her back for [11] Damage!

DT Warrior Battalion B compulsively attempts to consume the Goblins under Lexiel’s command [7 vs 20] they fail to pin down the little buggers however, chasing them round and round the killing field.

Soryn uses some taboo blood magic to steal the life right out of Officer C, bleeding him dry for [14] damage and restoring it to Lexiel!

Magna once more sics her pack of stolen constructs on Officer C. They bite into the poor mage’s flesh for [9], [8], and [16] Damage! The man, croaking one last breath as the skellingtons tear him apart, crumples to the ground, his body already cooling. Apparently dissatisfied with their performance however, Magna then reaves one of the beasts, destroying it to gain [10] hp.

Officer A, looking on in horror as his friend is reduced to ruin flesh and battered armor, attempts to save him, Vainly casting a bolt of lightning at one of Magna’s beast. As he defiantly shouts a name Magna can’t quite make out, the bolt strikes for [19] damage, blasting one of the beasts apart, but it’s already too late for his fallen brother in arms...

Mar once more mans the cannons, mercilessly taking aim at Officer A just as the futility of his previous act dawns on him. The Orc fires an acidic round at the man, bursting for [37] damage on impact and sending him to his knees. Stinking acid corrodes his Armor and chokes his lungs, lowering his Res by 5. Ant Drones go to work meanwhile, repairing [30] hp to the castle.

The Siege Onager… sits idle, it’s crew (DT Warrior Bat B.) too occupied trying to gobble up the goblins...

The Siege Crystal, with one of it’s crew dead and the other suffering acid burns, is manned by Officer B alone. He manages to get a charge into the crystal using his magic [36] and refrains from losing his lunch in the process. A thick, ungodly beam of fire and light blasts into the facade, dealing [24] damage. The entire structure of the crystal warps shortly afterward however, dealing [13] damage!

Liliya

Well that could have gone better. "Can I uh, get some help here?" the woman asked as she stumbled back towards the place where the largest clump of allies was, holding a hand to th long bleeding gashes in her side. There was no doubt in her mind that if she took another hit, she'd go down. Thus Liliya reached down mentally, feeling for that intangible switch to let the future wash over her. To see where enemies would strike, to see how they would react to her actions, to see which allies might get in her way and which would heal her, all of this was apparent in an instant, and she followed the path of safety, at least until the vision ended.

Liliya uses a basic attack on Officer B. If any enemies would damage her this turn, "See the Future" lets her avoid all enemy actions but takes away her other action. Perk "Overdrive" is active, raising Liliya's Init, DEX, and RES by 4 until she is raised above 15 HP. 2*DEX% chance of a crit for double damage. Liliya's current stats: Con2,Res10,Dex14,Int0,Str3,Syn6. Init is 30.

Magna Sigyl (29/39 HP) Res: 3 (5 vs. magic attacks)

"Whew, that felt like a close one," she sighed with relief. Magna lamented how fragile her minions were, wishing they were still around to do her bidding. Her remaining skeletal beasts gave a roar, indicating it's readiness to fight. "Atta' boy. It's just you and me now, but you'll have a friend soon enough."

Vengeful Curse is active! Officer C will revive at the start of Turn 4 with 10 HP!

Magna's Dragon Tooth Beast A (10/30 HP) uses Bite on Officer A, dealing [1d12 + DEX (10)] + [SYN(9)/2 rounded up] (from Magna's Perk, Summoner's Influence)

Magna uses Reave, dealing [1d10 + INT(8)] to Officer A

Soryn Éclaire (43/60 HP)  Res: 4

"How fragile," Soryn tutted in disappointment. "I suppose I should be thankful that not all of these creatures are skeletons. Blood seems to be hard to come by."

The Blood Well is at (39/72) capacity!

Soryn casts Hemospere on Lilya, consuming [25% of Soryn's current health (11)] to shield her for [25% of Soryn's current health (11)]*1.25 for a total of [14] health. Upon breaking, the shield will deal [9] damage and ignores 40% of target RES (Vampirism Perk)

Walmond, after doing his little healing, stands up, snapping his fingers towards the enemy's army still, a burst of electricity flying from his fingers towards them.

Lambda, on the other hand, charges the skeleton forces, shields raised to reduce any damage she would take from engaging them.

Walmond uses Magic Burst on Soldier Battalion B, dealing 3d6+8 damage and forcing a constitution check against the damage dealt, paralyzing the opponent if the check fails, which causes then to have a 25% chance to fail an action.

Lambda uses Threaten the Enemy on Soldier Battalion A, DT Warrior A, and Soldier Battalion C.

Lexiel continues to speeed boooost, granting Victoria, Liliya, and Soryn +1 initiative.  Noticing the enemy mages, she prepares a Counterflux to shut down Officer A's next casting.  Counterflux causes the next spell the target would cast this round to be counterspelled and fizzle.  Any costs, such as cooldowns, mana, or spell slots are still paid.
