The group noticed something, something quite annoying. They were no longer inside of the castle, and were instead greeted by the sight of an alleyway, with garbage strewn around the edges, that caused the place to absolutely reek of refuse. a human arm appeared to be sticking out of a formerly green trash can, it was quite bloody, and seemed to be missing something.
The relative quiet was disrupted by the distant sound of police sirens that seemed to be coming from somewhere beyond the extremely obvious looking way out, a brightly lit main road that had a suspiciously empty set of pavements.
If the group had bothered to look behind they would see nothing but high walls and an oddly neat looking pile of trash.
Of course you could explore the alley if you'd like to, but those sirens are approaching awfully quickly aren't they?

Things you should probably ignore

Smell of the day: Trash heaps

Thing that currently exist in the location: A way out, several paper cards lying on the floor; they look like a recent addition, a hand sticking out of a trash can, faded graffiti, distant sirens, a suspiciously neat looking pile of trash.

Suddenly, a trail of blue afterimages follows Psymund as he dashes directly into the air, landing ready, a blue mist flows out of his body, forming into a set of Uzis.

"Fun!"  He shouts, Summoning a crackling bubble of benign electricity around him, which causes him to float, his suit emits hisses of air to propel himself to the roof, jumping back and forth between the walls of the alley.

The stench of the alleyway immediately knocked Halley back into reality. She already missed the aroma of the food left in the kitchen. She looked around, while the alleyway was pretty standard, the flying electrical man was not. "What? Who? If you wanna go, I'll take you on!" She hastily stood up and took aim at Psymund, out of panic. She stepped back, trying to get a better aim at him, but accidentally collided with the trash can that had a hand sticking out of it. "Eek!" She turned back in reflex and shot the trash can repeatedly.

Halley had successfully managed to liberate the severed arm from the confines of a trash container, "Viva le revolucion!" the arm would say if it had a mouth, or was still alive.

Trash is currently leaking from the container.

(14 v 20)

Psymund hadn't managed to get to the roof of an eight floor building, but he succeeded in landing on a rickety looking fire escape, it appears to be able to get him safely to the roof, but perhaps he would want to stop and open the way for the others to follow him?

Things of interest on the third floor's fire escape: Boarded up windows, the way up, a set of stairs that appear to be able to extend down to reach the alleyway two floors down, a black bag

Hide from the cops? What did we do wrong?

Unfortunately, the man had a point. Laying low was a better plan in an unknown world. She followed Psymund and scaled the fire escape. She took a quick glimpse at the garbage can that she had blasted. Mildly burning piles of trash almost covered the arm. Shady...

Visrii raised an eyebrow at the sudden change of scene. He had realm jumped before, but many were through ancient portals and runes. This kind of spontaneous teleportation was new, but he was not a stranger to surprises.

He noticed he was in an alleyway of sorts. The stench of trash and decay reminded him of the slums that sprawled out of the Kyosis City, his home.

Visrii shifted pace and climbed after the woman with the strange clothing. He thought briefly of imbedding a explosive crystal just to delay whoever was pursuing them, but explosions were most likely detrimental right now.

Lexiel pulls herself to her feet, syphons off any grease and trash from her person with a quick spell, and kicks the suspiciously neat trash pile over, scattering its contents.  If there's nothing obviously interesting inside, she climbs the fire escape.

18 vs 20

Lexiel successfully kicks the pile of trash, dislodging most of the refuse and revealing a plastic wrapped coil of thin metal rope on top of a small grey metallic box, it is covered in dirt and grime, but it appears to have a keyhole.

Visrii leans over the railing, and quickly tests a Fireball.

Embers collect in his palm, but struggle to ignite. He disperses the collection of embers and tries again, but fails to create a proper ball.

Still not strong enough.

As far as he could tell, the Flame was alive, just weak or far away... and it was still Profaned.

He'd need to gather more strength; and face any Trespasser that intrudes on Stravaga.

In any case, he should focus on the current happenings.

"So, where are we?" He asked to nobody.

"No idea exactly, but we appear to be in an allyway of some sort on a mediumly advanced world. You were just minding your own business when you arrived here, right?" he shouted.

Edmond sighed, just a bit confused, and looked around. The amount of trash was unnerving, but standard for certain parts of Old Earth history. So...some sort of...twenty-first to -twenty-second century world... He grabbed the odd paper cards on the ground, and took a look at them before pocketing them.

As he heard the sound of approaching sirens, he clambered up the fire escape.

"Those are police sirens...", he paused for a moment. From what he had seen, Visrii was from a world entirely of magic.

"Think royal guards or something. We probably don't want them finding us."

Edmond takes a look around, grabs the paper cards, takes a look at them, and makes his way up the Fire Escape.

Once he had arrived at the platform where Psymund had landed, he stopped again. "Should we continue up, or break into the presumably abandoned buildings?"

"Royal guards? They're pretentiously loud for guards." Visrii mused.

Normally, he would be able to plow through the guards and continue on his way. But 'normal' left him days ago, perhaps even years.

Besides, already causing havoc in an unknown realm was never a good idea.

"In any case, we should climb up. Height advantage is never an advantage one shouldn't take."

Visrii looks for further ways to scale the building.

The business sized paper cards all have the same thing written on them in large black letters, one side says "University way & Fifty Second Street, say 'Harley Davidson' to the bouncer first", when flipped over to the other side they say "Quinn is the second word, don't fuck this up", a hastily scrawled on H is visible on the bottom corner of the card.

Visrii would only have to look in front of him to see another set of stairs heading up, alternatively they could break through the boarded up windows, if they were willing to potentially telegraph their current positions to the police that is.

"Well, shit." The parchments must be some sort of task. He guessed the message was from, perhaps, underworld workers or conspirators of some kind.

And because of its obvious lack of ciphers and its convenient placing, Visrii could tell this message was meant for them.

But first, refuge.

Visrii quickly climbed up, expertly swinging over bars and railings whilst making little sound, as if he had practiced this a hundred times before.

Just before he reached the top, he dropped a conductive crystal and wedged it against the stairs.

If they had any company, Visrii could shock them first.

Halley followed on, to the rooftop. She took notes of the man's preemptive measures, as she had some Energy Crystals with her, too.

She looked up in the sky, but to her dismay, there were just clouds, boundless, putrid clouds. The city lights cast off their surfaces, coloring them with a mild purple. She sighed a bit. There was really nowhere else like home, not even in multiverses.

Harlequin?

Edmond followed to the roof, as that seemed to be the direction in which the group was proceeding.

Some unfamiliar faces...

"Since we're going to be working together, and I don't recognize some of you, I'm Edmond. That will have to suffice as an introduction for now."

Edmond looked out across the rooftop, taking note of the positions of other buildings, and searching the sky.

Edmond searches the cityscape the sky for anything of interest. (Distances to buildings, flying vehicles, anything on top of other roofs, etc.)

Edmond is unable to spot any flying vehicles, but he is able to discern the distance between the various rooftops.

To the south of their current location the rooftop is too high up to be reached, and while another fire escape was present, it would put them directly above the alley from before, and with the sirens starting to draw nearer that may not be the wisest idea.

To the west of their current location Edmond would see the main road from earlier, and an array of discreet night time shops that appear to be closing very suddenly, you are not sure of their legality, or the intelligence of the various store owners.

To the north he would see another rooftop that seemed close enough to jump down to, but upon closer inspection he would see several barrels with their insides aflame, and groups of people huddling around them.

To the east he would see a curiously open door leading deeper into the building, but of course it is up to him to decide if entering would be a wise choice.

Things of interest: A way north, a shortcut to the ground floor, an open door leading inside of the building to the east, a fire escape to the south, piles of trash that may or may not be hiding something, a conspicuous looking cabinet

"Seems like we have two primary options. Going down to that roof with the people, or entering the building. I would advocate for entering the building, but I'd like to hear what other people think. Also, does anyone know what we actually need to do here?"

After stating his opinion, Edmond made his way over to the dilapidated cabinet that he had noticed. Odd...He carefully inspected it from all sides, searching it for anything obviously dangerous. A cabinet sitting on top of the roof was...unusual to say the least. After he had ascertained whether there was any danger in messing with the cabinet, he attempted to open it. He hoped that any locking mechanism might have rusted long ago.

Edmond checks the cabinet for danger, and then tries to open it.

It appears to be an ordinary wooden cabinet with a recently made vaguely circular hole on top of its largest shelf that had been covered with duct tape.

The doors of the cabinet refuses to budge, perhaps due to the hinges becoming solid due to the good old oxidation process causing the metal to rust.

Edmond would need to put some more force into opening the door, perhaps he would be better off looking at what was inside through the hole first?

There was a small hole, perhaps once holding a knob of some kind, covered with adhesive tape.

Slightly worrying...perhaps something that needs to be kept sealed? They wouldn't have used plain wood then...

After a moment of uncertainty, Edmond carefully uncovered the hole. He stepped back a moment, making sure that nothing obvious was leaking out, and then peered in. Without putting his eye too close of course.

Edmond carefully peels away duct tape and investigates.

Inside of the dark cabinet Edmond can see the outline of a small innocuous looking pen shaped object.

The object seems to not be moving or reacting in any shape or form to Edmond's intrusion.

Edmond peered in, and saw the small pen shaped object. Having failed in his attempts to open the cabinet, he settled on a new tactic. He turned the cabinet on its side, shifting it in the hopes of liberating the object.

Edmond turns the cabinet to try and drop out the pen shaped object. If it rolls out, he carefully taps it with his foot, and presuming nothing happnes, picks it up and investigates further.

Edmond succeeds in causing the cabinet to fall on it's side with a worrying crackling sound.

The pen like object fell out of the hole, and Edmond can clearly see that it appears to be a simple sleek pen like stick with no obvious use.

Its casing is made from plastic, and it hasn't done anything to threaten Edmond.

It makes one wonder why it was kept inside of the cabinet
