Known Issues - E13

Currently as Pokemon Essentials' battle system is incomplete and Reborn isn't a finished game, there are some prevalent issues and bugs in the game. I wanted to make this thread in order to filter out lots of reports on the same issues. For the time being I'm just going to post the 'known issues' bit of the Readme and any issues that I haven't gotten to yet that I know offhand. I'll try to keep this as updated as possible.

* Absorption abilities such as Lightningrod currently fail to absorb status moves.
* X-stat items currently don't work.
* Trace currently will not copy transformed abilities.
* Gen 3-5 Shiny Backsprites have not been updated to Gen 5 style yet.
* Some battle animations are displaying in weird places.
* Slower computers may encounter a Script Hanging error. To prevent, avoid running along other intensive programs, and only fill PC boxes half-way.
* Choosing 'Store' while moving a Pokemon in the Move Pokemon option of the PC seems to crash. 'Place' works just fine.
* Many 4th/5th/6th gen abilities and moves are incomplete.
* There are some inconsistencies with sending a Pokemon out mid-turn.
* Using Headbutt from the Party Screen will crash the game.
* In tile puzzles, occasionally tiles will turn in the wrong direction.
* Some terrains don't return to normal after expiring.
* Some text for stat ups/downs betrays the effect (showing +1 text when it's +2, etc).

* When your and your opponents active Pokemon both faint, Pokemon with Exp Share don't recieve experience.
* The pathfinding for follower NPCs doesn't always make sense.
* Ability-switching moves and abilities may not function properly when switching out.

* There is an issue with the third Scraggy in the Scraggy gang fight coming out invisible but then falling down from offscreen if it uses a move.

Hurricane (it works for some and not others?)

Future Sight (damage is typeless)

So is this a place we should post minor bugs and glitches? Or do we continue to do that in independent topics and you just edit this to have it all in one place?

As the person slated to fix most of these, the intent was to both have a concise list that I can chip away at and also make it so as not to fill this section with a bunch of threads pertaining to the same bug. Can't tell you how many times I've been told/saw a thread where something like Hurricane isn't working, for example.

To answer your question, continue as you are in independent topics, try not to make too many posts about the same bug and I'll try to keep this list of known issues as updated with my work on it as I am able to. You may post things in here that I've missed in the list if you so desire, though.

It's also a list where if someone's having an issue in Reborn City, on PO or in a status or something else, you can point them to this to show if it's a known issue or not.

This is pinned, so it's not technically necroposting. As I watch Dobby's videos, I'll try to look for errors in-game. So far, I've only noticed String Shot reducing one stage instead of two, but I'll add more as I see them.

About to call you out on this but it seems like a Gen VI change. I'll fix it.

Also a posting in a topic that hasn't had a new post in only 6 days isn't really necroing

Can you put the scraggy gang sprite glitch on the list? Another topic just popped up about it and I was going to refer them here but it's actually not on here yet.

Er, not to bring this up too much, but is there anyway to let my vivillon's hurricane work properly? like, fix the code or something? Coz im stuck with Bug Buzz as its only attack, and I may need hurricane soon enough (Fern's a bitch -.-)

^ this, and even then, so long as you actually contribute and it's not like a two word post or something, we don't mind necroposting within reason.

As you can see in the original post it seems to work for some people and not others; I'm not scripty whatsoever but I know secondhand from Ame how frustrating that sort of thing can be (*coughyureyubuildingcough*) so I wouldn't count on a decisive fix off the bat. Sorry.

Hey, I found what was causing the Aerial Ace glitch! You do not need to delete the animation!

Just make sure that Charizard's last frame in the animation editor is numbered "1" and is at the right place (384,96), and also lock it for safety (I don't know if it changes anything, but every single animation has charizard frame locked on the last frame.

It works perfectly in my game at least.

...but we've already deleted the animation and I'm not... sure how to recover it. >>;

1. This isn't the place to put that. Instead you should have made your own topic about your issue.

2. If you're talking about what I think you're talking about then that's entirely ordinary. You're meant to jump from space to space, there is a way through it. Keep trying, and if you're still convinced there's an error then make a topic about it, preferably with screenshots of what you're stuck on and we'll do our best to help you.

I think I have a very small bug, so I didn't really don't want to make a topic on it:

I was exploring around the city before I move into the storyline and I noticed that I have Pokesnax in my Items section (75 from previous episodes) and one (just picked up) in the Medicine section in the bag. Just thought I would let you know for consistency in future episodes~

It's already noted in the Readme's Known Issues

Piggybacking off of this for a second, I wanted to point out that the same type of problem with the Pokesnax currently occurs with the Corrupted Pokéball, which also prevents the Ralts event from triggering unless you give the Corrupted Pokéball to a party Pokémon and then take the item back from it (where it then moves into the Poké Ball section of your bag).

I really just wanted to mention this here so that other people that encounter this problem don't find themselves without an answer.

2 things:

1) Protean changes the user´s type even while sleeping (probably also while hitting yourself in confusion and also while infatuated) and I´m pretty sure this shouldn´t happen.

2) Are there any plans on updating double battle mechanics. This game still uses 3rd gen mechanincs for double battles (and probably for single battles as well). Here´s a Video of someone almost wrecking the Pulse Tangrowth in the ZEL and Taka double battle because of this (start at minute 18):

Just to answer your second question: That will only be updated when Pokemon Essentials updates it. I believe most pokemon games that use Pokemon Essentails have 3rd Gen battle mechanics.
