you do realize that they're switched on White's side, too?

[EDIT]:NVM, i wasn't seeing clearly. white's side is correct.

[EDIT2]: heh. i just noticed that the Pawns are Pawniards, the Bishops are Bisharps, and the Kings and Queens are Nidokings and Nidoqueens, respectively. the pieces have names similar to the pokemon that they are. nice touch, Ame!

If it's not one thing with Radomus, it's another, I swear... Considering my knowledge of chess is negligible at best, I hadn't noticed either, I must confess.

Phew, I thought someone had noticed the actual error.

You mean the fact that he gives you Calm Mind still instead of Trick Room like he's supposed to? Unless you beat him on the first try/decline because you aren't ready yet?

they look more like Golurk than Liepard. it'd make more sense for them to be Golurks, too.

Golurk does look like a rook but then again he could also be a knight cause of his sheer power

i hope you're talking about the fact that the white pieces are facing the player, and not the black pieces...

Not that. Just assume they're double-facing. Not the TM thing either. That was easily fixed. The "actual error" is something chess-related that I'm dumb with and haven't worked out a solution to.

Rooks are Golurks. Unfortunately the Golurk sprite I had to work from was kind of shrimpy. Looks more like a Golett to be honest. Golett was even shrimpier.

Hmm... oh well, hope you can fix it and later we're going to be like:

"What? I feel dumb..."

Side note: I've turned my PC sideway and upside down, but i still can't see a Golurk there. Guess my eyes are bad.

e.e I thought it was Golett this whole time.. :c

EDIT: ._. Double post, can someone get rid of it.

EDIT 2: Unless someone got rid of it, i see no double post, so whatever - Vinny

Is the real problem the fact that it was impossible to move the bishops diagonally backwards from certain angles? I don't remember which way it was, but I do remember being particularly annoyed at this.

That's more of a control issue than anything.

The error is in the 4th chess puzzle. I over looked something when I first designed it, fixed it for beta which created a different problem, and fixed that different problem on release which happened to take it back to the way it was the in first place.

A4IKgVE.png

The bishop at H...5? from the player's side. It exists to pin the knight to the king currently since the difficulty of this challenge was supposed to come from working around both defending your king and attacking his at the same time

I failed to account for the fact, however, that that bishop can slide up to G6 to protect the king in what was intended as the proper checkmate solution

I don't know if there's a way for me to revise this without redoing a significant part of the puzzle (and trust me, the coding behind these chess games is NOT robust so that's going to be difficult) or without dropping that part of the intended puzzle altogether.

I just cleared Radomus's gym last night, and I noticed that, too. When I completed the puzzle, I just assumed that the player had to plan multiple turns in advance. Upon watching earlier playthroughs, I noticed that the aforementioned bishop was a rook instead.

(Also, that bishop doesn't do a great job of pinning the knight to the king, since the pawn at G2 does a good job of walling it.)
