Absol-lutelty awesome! 0
This is very out of the ordinary, I could use a second mind to work with to solve this, Ame get over here and think with me!
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted January 3, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 3, 2014 Windows 8... Hm. I haven't had a chance to test anything on that, but... Let's start here: Try running the game in XP compatibility mode and/or as an administrator. If that doesn't work, then I'll see if we can have you open it in a trial version of RMXP
Absol-lutelty awesome! 0
So we need testing in newer versions of windows or we need to use programs and programming to play in newer windows versions etc. episode 11 is gonna be big (duh) Besides the point Ame is very correct about windows issues. Newer windows lower game compatibility and require constant updating, making it notorious for making game makers go crazy trying to fix their games to fit the format. Don't worry it'll be fixed soon or like Ame said use a program suggested etc. After all... Episode 11 may never come out at all... >: D
dinamite63 0
I think I have this same problem and was wondering if any solution was found for this. The game.exe file deletes itself after I extract and attempt to run it. The error message that pops up states that windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. Any help would be appreciated.
Arkhi 199
I think I have this same problem and was wondering if any solution was found for this. The game.exe file deletes itself after I extract and attempt to run it. The error message that pops up states that windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. Any help would be appreciated. I have had a similar problem before. Messing with the game.exe and Game.rxdata has that effect. If the game.exe is deleted, that's an easy fix. You can re-download the game.exe program. As for it deleting itself, that may be your firewall. I've had to bypass the Game.exe through my Norton firewall in order to use it. If it isn't you or your firewall deleting it, that sounds like some other sort of issue.
dinamite63 0
Thank you very much! It was my Norton firewall and it was a pretty easy fix.
Eukarya 0
Sorry to butt in, but I have the same problem: when I click the game.exe, I get the error message "windows cannot acces the specific device, path or file" and then just deletes itself. My computer runs on Windows 8 by the way. I'm asking for help because I have tried severals solutions, with no results: bypassing the Norton firewall, running the game as administratror, changing the compability settings, re-extracting the file, re-dowloading and re-extracting the whole thing again and combining all of those. But to no avail. Is there something I'm not doing correctly, or any other solution? I just discovered the game recently and was really excited to play the game, so any help would be inmensely appreciated!
Cowtao 5
The game unfortunately was built from the ground up for Windows 7 users. Anything else with a Linux, Mac, or Windows 8 might have issues or problems we might not answer. >>; Informed people of this so hopefully you'll get your answer soon! ^^;
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted May 22, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 22, 2014 I found this page-- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2669244 Tell me if any of these steps help Windows 8 shouldn't be a problem.
Eukarya 0
Upon further examination of my antivirus, it seems it labeled the file as "not trusty" and all I had to do is a click and problem solved (BUT BECAUSE IT NEVER BOTHERED TO TELL THAT LITTLE SINGLE DETAIL, I WASTED SEVERAL HOURS OF TIME AND PANICKED A LOT, STUPID ANTIVIRUS OF MINE I hate you so much right now please don't do that ever again) Thank you anyway for trying to help (it helped me to investigate more and finally figure out what the real problem)
Zaratuir 0
For the record, I don't think Windows 8 itself is causing problems. My desktop is running 8.1, and aside from the glitch that I encountered (which I don't believe had anything to do with the OS based on the responses I got), I haven't had any problems with Reborn on it. Only thing I could think of aside from the A/V issue which was already resolved, would be Ownership issues. If other people encounter this bug in the future, you may want to check to make sure you have ownership of the Reborn Folder on your computer.
