Rybeast 0
Hey guys. I'm hoping that this will be the only threat I have to create on here with reference to crashes and the like. I've downloaded Pokemon Reborn in the past hour and have been trying to run it on Wine. I get as far as the screen with Ame and Julia, but as soon as Julia tells me to go to the Grand Hall and I move - the game crashes. I don't really know what to try or do as Wine seems to work absolutely fine for other applications, (granted it may not work for Pokemon Reborn but that's why I'm posting here!). The error message that becomes available doesn't seem to want to copy - command and C won't copy it from the windows based emulator I'm guessing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
Rybeast 0
Oh sorry, forgot to mention something! I looked in the FAQs and deleted the music in the two folders as it suggested - one was meteor boss admin battle or something like, and then the second was a full delete of the music in that folder. The problem still happened after! Just had a quick look through the forums - delete the Peridot music also, it didn't play as the game started and the screen came - however it caused the game to crash sooner, after the dialogue had stopped between Julia and I as opposed to moving after the dialogue. Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted December 26, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 26, 2013 Whatever the case is, this is probably the same issue as that user was having when I did ask her to delete that music (because I don't... recall that deleting that music fixed it)? Ugh, come to think of it, I can't even remember if that topic saw her issue resolved. Could you link it so that I remember what we've already been over?
Rybeast 0
Sure - sorry for the delay. I think we must be living in different time zones!! It's 2am here and the wind is a gusting and woken me up!! The link is here: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6302#entry103105 Sorry I haven't put it into brackets, or linked with angled brackets - I'm on my phone and it doesn't bring the options available up!! Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted December 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2013 Hm... So she was forced to play it on a different computer. Well... Can you try taking a screenshot of the error it gives you? (Assuming it's different from the one posted in that topic; if it's the same as that topic then this actually probably a different problem)
Rybeast 0
I am going to get the screenshot to you! I saved the error message on my mac, but I don't know where it's saved it to... I also don't know how to upload the save file onto here either, so it might be a copy and paste job tomorrow!!
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted December 29, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 29, 2013 There should be an option to attach something to a forum message (or a PM if you prefer) As for the rest of it, I can only hope you find it ><

Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted December 29, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 29, 2013 ............oh. i thought you meant it was an error message from the game itself, not from wine. well, that... means a whole lot of nothing to me. Someone who has- well, touched a mac ever- might be able to help me figure this out maybe? Otherwise I'm not really sure why this is an issue. My recommendation is to try a different computer or a different emulator to play it but I realise that's not always possible... You can try uploading your save file so that I can attempt to confirm that it isn't an issue with that But For now I might have to throw in the towel with this wine error. x.x
Rybeast 0
The error message I get is 'game .exe has encountered a problem and needs to close' When you go into 'View as' - that's what it comes up with. I think I probably have the same error log as that. Rybeast 0
Just an update... I uninstalled wine, again, and reinstalled with the winebottler combo from http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ and it seems to run perfectly fine... Which is slightly annoying. This brings me to another problem however - I experimented a little earlier after getting bored lesson planning for the new term and found I could get the game to work with wineskin. I think I found something on this earlier, can't remember who wrote it though. My question is - now that I've safely worked out that Pokemon Reborn will run in my newly installed version of wine - is there a way for me to get the save file from the wineskin version? Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted December 30, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 30, 2013 Noted for future issueness... Good job getting it to go! I remember- Linux, I think it was, posted very recently in a different mac topic about where the save files are... Confirmed on Linux and Mac that it is in Root Game (not to be confused with user:root) direction This means absolutely nothing to me but perhaps it will help you find it? moghavoc 0
So I installed the new version of vine and it works until i get done with the battle with the first opponent. It crashes only when I want to heal my pokemon. I'm not sure why but that seems to be when it crashes.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted December 31, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 31, 2013 Usually the crash-on-heal thing is a sound file issue for sure. Did you follow the instructions in the FAQ?
moghavoc 0
I followed them for the previous version of wine. I restored it to the old Pokemon Reborn files when I updated. I will re-delete the files and attempt again. Thank you!
