Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted October 22, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 22, 2013 This is the first I've heard of something like this. Anyone else have any ideas?
Linux 1
I would say try redownloading, but that's a pain in the arse. So answer these wee questions... What operating system are you using? (if not Windows) What Wine version are you using? What is your keyboard layout (e.g. en-gb, en-us)? has it worked before? Are you using any KeyBinds? What mirror did you use to download the game? Eamane 0
Thanks for your comment. I have to say I don't know very much about computers. I don't know how to look up what wine version I am using :S As far as I can find my keyboard is nl-vs I'm not using KeyBinds and used mirror 1. I think I'm going to download it again with a other mirror
Linux 1
Alright, if I am not mistaken that is Nederlands Dvorak layout, ja? I don't see anything that would cause problems with this. The lack of basic debugging output whist runnign Pokémon Reborn is a pain in the arse, then you can truely see what is going on *sigh* Personally, I would recommend downloading from Mirror #3, I manage that server so if any problems are in the game files I can amend them myself. here's the direct link for M3: http://dl.scripthen.net/amethyst/9.1-PokemonReborn.zip Download and merge the files (copy on top of old ones) and see how it goes, however, note, if you're on Linux, Mac, or Windows XP, make a backup of Game.rxdata, that's in the root of your game directory! Best of luck.
Eamane 0
I tried to download mirror 2, but I kept the same problem. When I try to download mirror 3 it keeps saying: 404 not found.
Scenekidlove 0
I kind of feel bummed for directing her here, while her game isn't working. She's missing out on fun.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted October 24, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 24, 2013 Yeah, Linux messaged me the other day, and he's having some bandwidth issues from overtrafficking, so mirrors 3/4 were taken down. Sorry about that. Is there another computer you can play from, Eamane?
Eamane 0
No, I only have my laptop
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted October 24, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 24, 2013 I only just noticed that you're running it from wine, and I know wine has some other problems too. I might suggest using another emulator if such a thing exists, or even just- something my father told me about- partitioning part of your computer to actually run windows. There was some program that did it really efficiently. Of course, this is a huge headache for the average user, and all this to play a game is a little extreme... *Ame doesn't know macs, lolll*

I could probably help with that then! Eamane, What do you use? Windows (ugly OS that gets viruses), Linux (everyone is differnt) or Mac OSX (goodluck)? If you are unsure, take a print screen of your desktop and send it here.

Sorry about that. Is there another computer you can play from, Eamane? Mirrors: #4 will be offline for good and that one received a lot of abuse :'D Mirror #3 is temporarily not serving 9.1 as I have had word for 10 coming out soon, so I wish to save the bandwidth for when it comes out. I will be implementing throttling that day so everyone (say about 50 people) can download at a nice stable speed. I am using windows 7 Run a virus scan. I suggest Malwarebytes Anti-malware and SuperAntispyware, they haven't let me down since 2009! Other than that, you may need remote assistance by someone more technical to diagnose the problem. If she's tried that, and it's still borked, I'll look for a solution.

Eamane 0
Hey guys, I ran a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware. It detected a lot, I deleted all of it and now the arrow key works! Thanks for helping me out!!
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted October 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 27, 2013 ...Strange, I had no idea that would impact the game like that. Well! Great! We'll know for future users, thank you. c:

artofme021 0
I'm having the same problem. I downloaded v. 15 (the first time I downloaded Reborn) a few months ago and it worked fine. I'm redownloading to continue playing, and now my arrow keys only work on the menu where I select New Game or Continue. I've had Windows 8 this entire time. A virus scan on the file didn't help. Maybe it's an update on Windows 8 that caused the problem? I even tried deleting and redownloading from a different mirror.
mde2001 236
Try restarting your computer. That often fixes this issue strangely enough. If it doesn't work you'll have to start a new thread as I'm locking this because of how old it is.
