Missing Cop Sidequest Glitch

I'm back with a new computer, going through the first chunk of the game again, and I've run into a bit of a strange, if possibly harmless, glitch.

I did the missing cop sidequest, even got the random egg after claiming my growlithe (the egg was an elekid) but for some reason the game thinks I haven't completed the quest?

I walked into Corey's gym, and the cops are completely absent. Not a one to be found. Which is kind of a pity, because I wanted to fight them for those last few levels I could've used...

I solved the puzzle (red, as if I didn't do the quest) and walked into corey's hidden room before deciding I should probably make sure this won't make me stuck for any reason. Anyone had this issue before, and will it make me miss out on anything? Other than the dialogue changes, that is.

Difficulty of your Gym Battle, instead of Mist, you will fight in Corosion field with different set of Mons and their moves (Mist one is much harder sometimes). That is about pretty much everything + Heather won't be disgusted by her father that much!

Post restoration if you haven't found all the cops you won't be able to enter grand stair case underground where dunsparce is

 Yeah, I think I can live with that. Already beat the battle, actually, wasn't all that difficult! Thank you both!!!
