Game won't open - and when it does, all old save data is gone.

Hi there!

So I've been stuck for about a month trying to figure out what happened and how to fix this and I have run out of ideas. I was fighting someone in the E18 gym and my game froze and crashed and I think I made the mistake of saving it at that point, which I've learned to not do but must have here. And since then, it won't let me even open Reborn, and I get a few different error messages. Now, I've gone and changed my last save to try and use the backups to the Game.rxdata fix and when that happens I can open Reborn but...it's only giving me the option of a new game. And I've done the past couple to see if maybe a few were corrupted somehow. 

So now after playing with the Game.rxdata sitch, it will continue to open but now it looks like all my saved data is gone...which sucks.

If there's a solution I've missed (I've tried looking for similar issues on the forums here) then my apologies for not looking harder, but I've done everything I can think of, including deleting and redownloading the files for the latest update.

Are you sure that all your safe files are corrupted?

It is quite common that a few backups get corrupted. But it´s quite unlikely that all safe files won´t work anymore.

Doesn't seem to matter which I do, when I load up the game again there's no continue game option, just the option to start a new game.

The irony of the 1337 one being the one giving me issues is not lost on me. I blame Fern somehow.

If you have issues starting the 1288 safe file, then you should try downloading the game again. I wasn´t able to open the safe file in your first post, but this one seems to be fine.

I redownloaded it today and still am having the same issues. I went all the way back and changed it to the game.rxdata and my options don't show a continuing option. I don't know if it's something I did wrong somewhere down the line in the past or something, but I really don't know how much I'd like to redo all of this from scratch just yet. ;-;

Okay, did you change its name to literally "game.rxdata"? If so, that is incorrect. It just needs to be "game". The .rxdata is added automatically to the file by your computer, like .doc is for word documents, etc. If not, check the end of the word game for a space. That's my most common issue when the save file isn't loaded properly.

 

If neither of those work could you post the save file you have named game?

I agree with wcv, the file you uploaded first was indeed named wrong (game.xdata.xdate) - that´s probably why you can´t open older backups. Now you should be able to at least continue from the newest intact backup. I think fixing the one that initially got corrupted is hardly possible.

See, I tried that. And it didn't work. And then now it did, lol.

Thanks! I feel like a moron because I swear I did this with just "game" rather than game.rxdata repeatedly and nothing was ever working.
