Just a quick question

The problem actually isn't DirectX here. From what I've heard about this error, it's your sound card driver.

There are a few options.

One site says this:

"it means the driver for your soundcard is either out-of-date or corrupted somehow by somekind of virus. Find out what kind of soundcard you have, then go to the DirectX website and download the latest version."

(It's probably just out of date; I doubt many viruses target sound cards)

So if you can find an updated driver you should be in good shape

Drivers should always be free. o-o They're usually provided on the company's website for anyone to download.
