aaronpg97a 0
Hi, i just started playing pokemon reborn a couple of hours ago but when i go to the pokemon center to heal up my computer crashes. Anyone having the same problem ? I have a Mac os x with wine btw.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 25, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 25, 2013 I know on weaker computers the game will lag at centers, but I haven't heard of it crashing there before. Is your computer very old?
johare 0
I am having the exact same problem. Right before the pokeball should appear on the healing table, the game crashes. Also, my computer is quite new, and I don't experience lag at any other point in the game.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 26, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 26, 2013 Are you also on Mac, Johare?
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 27, 2013 So okay, Ame is a mac noob, you two and any other Mac players help me out here What is wine and how does it work? Is it an OS addition? An emulator? Are there different versions of it? I'm sure there's some kind of common thread between you two...
johare 0
I'm not to sure how wine works, but here is a url to a pretty descriptive wikipedia article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_(software). I know there are different versions of it, I am using the most popular one, which is just normal wine paired with winebottler. I know it emulates the way windows wuld read binary, but not sure about some of the other things it does, as it runs smoother than an emulator can.
johare 0
If you want I can get you the program error details that wine gives me when the error occurs. I know very little about programming and code so it is gibberish to me.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 27, 2013 Please do! If it's like, Wine-specific stuff it may not help much, but on the chance that it isn't, it'll be a start.
johare 0
Here it is backtrace.txt
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 27, 2013 ...Mm... Yeah.... Yeah that doesn't mean much to me either. ><;; For now, I'm sorry. All I can say is that I'll keep it in mind. There's a small chance it might be fixed with the next episode? Or if I hear about this again I'll see if I can identify any other patterns... johare 0
Is there anyway you could do a quick fix. Maybe just having the pokemon jump to being restored after talking to nurse joy. I think that would cut out whatever is causing the crash.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 27, 2013 Ahmm. The problem is the the thing that lags, and thereby what I assume is crashing your computer, is the very act of restoring the pokemon. I.e you would never be able to heal anywhere... johare 0
Does the same lag occur when you use potions? I haven't tested that out yet
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 27, 2013 I haven't heard of that. ...Would you go through the whole game only using potions? ^^:
chase_breaker 0
I too am having this problem. I know this was posted today as well but man this sucks I can't even get past the first pokecenter.
chase_breaker 0
FYI It doesn't crash when potions are used. Challenged accepted... lol
johare 0
Yeah, potions work, but I have no easy way to regain PP
chase_breaker 0
I ran into this problem too... That and if a pkm dies.
chase_breaker 0
I found how to fix the problem! Go into the Pokemon Reborn file. Go into Audio file and remove the ME file. It's all the Midi music in the game, so like I originally thought the songs weren't loading. The game runs smoothly for me, I can catch pokemon and heal mine at the poke center. You just wont get the jingles anymore.
Administrators Amethyst 2466 Posted June 28, 2013 Administrators Share Posted June 28, 2013 Really! Can anyone else confirm if this works for them?
johare 0
Thank you so much. It now works perfectly.
johare 0
Im going to try to isolate which single audio clip is causing the crash, that way we can keep the max number of sound effects.
chase_breaker 0
It has something to do with Dvix and the game not being able to load it.
chase_breaker 0
it's all of the Midi songs that mess it up not just one or two.
